The ice element is so crazy in this game compared to all other elements! Something crazier is Marianne can continue to juggle dead units to get her hit count up more easily, so its not hard at all to become a walking snowstorm with her.
It was hilarious putting her in Cavalier and using it's class action to carry some unfortunate souls from one pack to another. I think my personal record so far with her was a 4,000 hit count doing that.
I agree. Ice element is basically so good as you can set up without pressure, allowing you to crit rush in a way to get massive colleterals. Also, Marianne got ice on some other attacks, e.g. her cheapest sword move costing 6 Dura does freeze. While not as useful in the Demo, give the Girl a Levin Sword and watch her go ham.
Hey TheSacredSpear! As a player who chosen the GD and sunk over 30 hours into the demo alone, I can say that I have quite some experience with my lovable deers. To answer your question why Lysithea’s unique action ability drawing in enemies may seem lackluster, I attribute it to not utilizing it to its full potential. As you see, Lysithea can spellbound non-commander enemies with her normal attacks but not the commanders. HOWEVER, her dark spells such as Miasma and Swarm do apply spellbound to commander enemies. This means that a good strategy with Lysithea is to cast a dark spell which applies spellbound and then do a standard combo, probably one that launches, and then activate her unique ability to continue combos against commanders. That is one perk I find of it, as mages seem to have a range problem once they get off a launcher hit and have to play catch up to keep up the assault. Lysithea luckily can bypass this by drawing them up from anywhere (as long as they’re spellbound)
Dorothea is outright busted as a Dark Knight (or any horse/cav) as she has the tools to rapidly spawn and detonate her elemental orbs, both in melee and at range (Ice Spear combo finisher), as well as push entire swathes of enemies into them with the cavalier special charge. Needs a bit of external STR growth help, but what you end up with is a physical + elemental powerhouse who can sweep large portions of the battlefield, apply every status, and instantly shatter stun gauges. Petra so far works best as an Archer since her dodge lets her freely reposition for her Drill Arrow angles while juggling enemies infinitely. Her very defensive dodge also patches the Archer class's innate weakness to getting mobbed and having it's AoE being locked behind a relatively slow combo start-up. Lysithea I've found is really comfortable as an Axe class due to the amount of innate knockback the weapon and it's skills has. It's usually a problem for most characters to maintain a combo with an Axe due to it, but she gets extra AOE damage from launching and has a special to pull enemies back in to keep them airborne and in-reach. She has crazy MAG growth and a crest, so give her Annette's Axe and have a good time. Leonie as any ranged class is a machinegun. That is all. Still testing every character in non-recommended roles, but these are the massive standouts so far!
Hi! As someone with 100 Hours in the game, and has mastered every class with Sylvain I can tell you first hand he’s probably the best unit in the game. He has access to so many good skills and all he needs is a weapon with the Chain ability to ensure almost permanent uptime on his personal and he’s set (I’ve managed to reach upwards of 20k combo). The skills he can learn are also extremely strong. He has access to 3 Catalyst skills (increases warrior gauge gain) and a skill that grants him warrior gauge when he crits AND a skill that adds his strength and magic together for all attacks. I wish he had access to concentrate from brawler to further increase the combo timer but that would probably push him over the edge to BROKEN.
@@johannesboomsma4680 I use Wyvern Lord on Sylvain because it can get around quickly and makes it easier to avoid losing your combo. It also has great growth rates with a boosted chance at HP and strength on each level up.
One thing I would like to note about the 3 house lords personal skills, with spells of their element (Edelgard with fire, Dimitri with lightning, Claude with wind) has unique effects like Edelgard when casting fire has three projectiles instead of the usual one.
I will try that out! Based off Annette’s extra interactions with the Mage’s wind combos when imbued with wind damage there seems to be some bonuses tied to elemental damage when casting attacks of the same element.
Hey, this was an awesome overview that helped me wrap my head around some characters so thanks. While I'm here I thought I'd mention that there is an accepted terminology for combo strings in warriors games which is C(number) standing for combo. The number stands for which part of the combo the strong button was pressed so a C1 is just a regular strong and a C4 is what the 3RS would be in your terms. A full combo without a strong attack is just called a full combo. I hope that explains it well. Thanks again.
Would love a remake of this video with the lvl 3 of all skills. Specially because I thought the same of Lindhart Easy Breezy, but once you get it to lvl 3 and couple it with Essence of Wind, they fire so fast and are strong enough to completely tear through everything with his normal attacks.
Thank you for compiling all of this into a single video. I've seen some other people post this as well, but I figured I'll add my 2 cents. The naming scheme other warrior games use (the ones I've played at least which are the Hyrule warriors and OG FE warriors) for combos is Strong I, Strong II, etc. and it is based on how many button inputs it takes to initiate said combo. i.e Strong I is just X Strong II is YX Strong III is YYX so on and so forth A channel I've seen do guides from some of the warriors games, Warriors Dojo, refers to them as C1, C2, C3, etc. and I personally like the naming scheme since it's simple and rolls off the tongue better than Strong 3 or S5. At least for me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Also, I'm not sure you if mentioned shocked and windtorn's extra effects in the air. When shocked enemies burst midair, it can inflict shocked onto nearby enemies. When windtorn enemies burst midair, it deals AoE damage to anything surrounding them. Sorry if this was brought up and I just missed it. Also, why did they make Rondo of Roses so good? You can so easily get the no-hit challenge cleared with it. I'm wondering if it's going to be nerfed in the final game. I love almost all of these abilities, I really hope someone makes a randomizer mod that shuffles around personal abilities at some point.
Hey, Sacred, I appreciate this video a LOT! I haven’t quite gotten a chance to try everyone so this is incredibly useful. As for how combos are typically notated for this game, most channels I’ve watched for warriors-type content just say S1, S2, S3, etc. the number just notates which strong attack you use. So for example S1=Strong attack, S2=1 Light + 1 Strong, S3=2 Light + 1 Strong. Hope this helps.
That's the comment I was looking for. The notation as R1S seemed almost familiar to me, but it was not exactly what I remembered. S1 is exactly what I used to read in other Warrior games
Basically this, but I tend to see "C" (charge) used when talking about other Warriors games, particularly the classics (Dynasty, Samurai, Orochi). It got a bit inconsistent between C# and #YX (Y being the input for regular, and X for strong / charge) among Hyrule players.
Honestly Petra's windstorm is so broken that you can seemingly juggle enemies forever. However, the lack luster damage is a bit annoying when killing anything other than fodder foes.
Very solid video! Glad to know the full details of everyone's ability. I had no idea Annette's had three effects! I only ever got the speed boost lmao. Also, in the future, instead of saying "press normal three times than strong attack" you can just use the Musou terms for the combos. Strong attack = C1, combo 1 (YX) = C2, combo 2 (YYX) = C3 etc.
The accepted terminology i know of from Warriors Dojo is C(total number of attacks), so YYX is C3, standing for essentially 3 hit Combo, so all things considered your (number of regulars)RS works for the most part
Gonna pick Black Eagles first because to pay respect to Ferdinand von Aegir’s va Billy Kametz passed away. This man was an absolute legend and i will miss him. Also i will choose Female Shez as main character and as always i choose Female Byleth as rival because she’s my waifu. I will do one run with Male Shez and Female Byleth in the future

I've seen an old shorthand of 1x, 2x, etc. Less typing, but same basic concept of the number being how many light attacks before the strong input, since it's always the end of the combo string, whereas if dodge cancelling at certain points in the light string, you can use 1y, 2y etc. (Is mostly a result of Lyn and Navarre in the previous game being able to wave clear by doing 4(?)y and dodge cancel it to keep moving forward since that was how their light string worked.
it scares me to think that Sheik from Hyrule Warriors found a descendent of damage nullification in Three Hopes, good for you Lorenz, you got one of the most new player friendly / busted skills ever
I never found Shiek's shield to be that strong. It didn't have very much health and enemies in later maps did A LOT of damage and would often just blast through the shield. Lorenz's ability is just better in my opinion
I literally was on the edge of buying this hack and slash game. definitely have put in hours, but as a new player to three houses I was liking the "strategic" aspect of having multiple weapon use.... not even knowing there was special aspects to each character 🙃 I'm putting in hours in this demo for fun without knowing the full potential haha. Great video and know I'm a sub and purchaser of this game
I like the personal skills in the Golden Deer most. My only gripe is that the classes and skills (from what we’ve seen so far) aren’t as flashy as I’d like. The first FEW had very flashy and satisfying specials and awakenings with skills that made you feel super powerful even on lunatic mode. Hopefully the actual game will provide more oomph. I like it a lot already, I’m just not as satisfied yet and the body armor doesn’t help. I still love the characters though. Personal skills will separate them all by tier list…
The best in my opinion: Sylvain Mariane Ferdinand Von Aegir Mercedes Holst Special mention to hilda and dedue love that crank up And idk why but constance is so busted prolly mostly her crest letting you spam spells forever and her skill hits like a truck too it's like having 3 spells. Her spell set is absolutely disgusting too agnea's arrow, fimblventr and bolting... can't ask for more Imma try getting ferdie's skill on shez on my scarlet blaze run and Sylvain's on my azure gleam.
Combine Caspar's One for the Books skill with classes like Mortal Savant and Asura and you get a Uber unit capable of annihilating the battlefield!! Especially since from my experience, the effects stack with the Swordmaster and Mortal Savant base strong attack to attack with a flurry of slashes to build up further power!!! The charge up time doesn't even matter if you have either the defenses or the skills needed to keep yourself from staggering!
its also worth noting the shadowflash dash is faster than shez' top speed, so its very useful for getting around quickly and conserving shadow slides easy breezy level 3 on any swordfighter class applys windtorn so much that its pretty much a given to anything in the air
Idk if this is consistent between all warrior games but back when FEW was being played the combos were called "Strong #" Say you press X without starting a combo, that's a strong 1, 3 weak attacks ending with a strong is a Strong 4. So far and so forth.

All the lords abilities that imbue attacks with elements also boost the power of combat arts/magic of the same element So if Claude casts a wind spell, it’ll be massively more powerful than normal
I’ve played the OG FE:W for 300 hours and have been logging in so many hours in the mock battle for 3 Hopes. I appreciate this guide! For Future Reference: the Musou community have some terminologies on the combo system. C1 refers to strong attack only, C2 refers to Regular + Strong, C3 refers to Reg + Reg + Str, etc. This is due to Combo buff description in past Musou games’ weapon forging where, for example, a “Strong Attack III” would increase the damage of C3. I would use these combo terms going forward.
for marianne she also gets a bonus to ice attacks. similar to annette with the wind rs attack. if marianne does the ice one she gets a bonus, like for the gremory class if she does the 2 rs move and then uses her class ability she’ll get three ice magic pillars rather than one that you can move around at will. not sure if this affects any other classes yet.
To me the best first play through for beginners is going to be golden wildfire. You get a solid balance in roster and you unlock extremely powerful allies like holst and the maps feel the most fair. The worst route for players go make their first is azure gleam, trust me you will suffer.
Each chapter grants access to side missions which work as challenge missions. If you complete them you get rewards which range from weapons, more activity/training points, gold and even a new class. They are pretty much identical to the challenges from the games in HW/FEW.
Someone PLS tell me I’m just dumb & haven’t seen the settings to adjust the HUD. The giant map & mission objective taking up half the screen while in camp (and during battle) is driving me insane. It was smaller in Three Houses I feel like…
well for me,obviously Ferdinand is amazing if u can keep up his hit u littery become unstoppable speedy! same with felix. and in this games onlyShezM littery has Insane Range but, Slyvian has range boost thanks to Slyvian unique abilities make him good aoe mob. Balthus littery throwing ur more money for etc 150+ hit so u littery want him on early games if u planning for farming..and i say marianne is good to becouse ice is amazing skill with of coures same with byleth littery stop time!.
Mounted units in a musou series is awful and this is coming from a player who's mastered dynasty warriors series, orochi warrior series, samurai warrior series, musou stars, hyrule warriors, etc... That's a lot of koei warriors games!!
