Who should you play with Songhai in Civilization 7?

In the very first Civilization Livestream we learned Songhai's abilities, and the civs they can come from. Egypt of Aksum. Considering Hatshepsut and Amina as their respective leaders, how good is Songhai really? And who should you be playing with in the Age of Antiquity before the Age of Exploration?

Very interesting video! But consider the following option: Amina leading Egypt before transition into Songhai…

I think that's the plan. Lots of desert, you're probably getting plains and navigable rivers. Then you get the +5 combat strength on desert and plains, and then Amina's resource bonuses. Yeah that's just better, unless culture is just so important you need Hatshepsut

Im a tiny bit concerned of the amount of civs we're going to get. I feels like it might be 8 per era, but it seems very little. I would like to see that number closer to 12. I personally really like the idea of being able to switch civs because I think they will do it correctly unlike humankind. We'll have to wait and see. More vids like this pls!

I'm optimistic about it being double digits In the Antiquity Age stream when they show off the age transition they have panels on a 2 by 4 grid which show the Normans, Chola and Abbasids, but also a bar on the side to scroll down, suggesting anywhere from 9-12 civs(based on size) On the next screen with just the Nomans we have 11 dots towards the bottom, leading many to believe we'll get 11 civs in exploration(but 11 could include Shawnee)
