But the SN broadcasters and GYB all mentioned how Bouchard was the best Dman defensively throughout the playoffs. today being July1st, Foegele left for $3M to LA (that hurts). However, in a salary cup system you cannot pay two players that much and fill a Stanley cup winning team. these guys suggest 4 players taking (Nurse, Bouch, Drai, McD) $48.25M (50% of the cap) then 6 players (Ekholm, Hyman, Nuge, Kane, Ardvenson) $25.75M. So 10 player will make up $74M with a cap that might be $92M. So the remaining roster of 11 player split $18M including resigning Skinner for $4-6M. I see Mc/Drai doing the Crosby/Malkin deal or Toews/Kane where they get the same amount. I see both taking less to make a competitive team. However the Boys mention all this money coming off the cap to pay those three????? you do not take that $ off the cap and give to those two, you beed to replace them. You cannot replace Cecil for Desharnais to win the cup.

I’ve been an Oilers fan for a very long time. I was still in high school for 3 out of 5 cups. I agree with Draisaitl and McDavid numbers. I say 13 and 15 respectively. I am not in agreement at 10 for Bouchard. That’s an extreme overpay for a point getting defender that’s terrible in the neutral zone and our own zone. He’s a defensive liability who’s scared to go in the corners. Max 7 million per year. Don’t bring back Gagne, Perry, Foegele (I want Foegele but he’ll make more money elsewhere). Definitely keep Janmark, Brown and Henrique if he accepts a pay cut.
