It shows that Ragnar was always watching over his son's. When they were out talking about him leaving and if he returns. Some said they'd kill him upon his return. This is his response to what they claimed they'd do. Notice he challenged every son that said they'd kill him and not those that did not
If you read the books you know there is an old peasant that tells Ragnar everything what is happening in village. Yes, there are no books. No, i am joking.
That scene will always be the most memorable to me. It showed Ragnar as a broken man who internally suffered from regret and failure. He wanted to die. And that moment when he just hugged Ubbe showed how sad he really was deep down inside.
No. Not even close. Ubbe was the only one who stepped up, who rose to his father's challenge. Note that Bjorn was not involved in this scene, as he was not like his brothers. Ubbe is embraced by his father for being most like him of his siblings, silent and stoic but willing to step forward. Bjorn knew it was not a real challenge and Ragnar was not ready to die; he was seeking acceptance and apologizing for being the father who left, the chief who abandoned his people. It was an apology to the young sons he left; that's why it's only for his younger sons and not Bjorn (who historically was the one who actually did the coffin trick in Paris, not Ragnar)
Nobody really wanted smoke with Ragnar... he was on another level. Love Travis's performance as Ragnar. Just goes to show how much the weight of a man's ambition and passion can really be. Ragnar truly wanted the best for his people and to bring prosperity and ensure his people were able to live and prosper on the lands that the Christian's refused to truly share. And this in turn was so heavy it began to break him slowly. Trying to keep the expectations of the people up and losing so many of the people he cared about as well as loyalties shifting.
Ragnar was the spark that ignited Norse conquest into new lands in every direction, an act that established his folk as a real power for the years to come. Rollo was the one take his people to the next level. He cemented a legacy that allowed Norman's to rule over Europe for millenia. Ragnar was a warrior farmer. Rollo was a warrior politician.
Really does one know a king ?when they see one? or cause they are one? I heard theirs only one who is true kingship to behold maybe not@@ThebelieversHQ
I'd have to say ubbe as well. The way he faces down the other two first, as he knew Ubbe has the courage to actually challenge him. Everything about his walk towards ubbe seemed to speak of a man on the edge, ready to draw the sword in the ground if needed. a part played masterfully by all the actors involved though.
Bro he brought Ivar along and taught him everything in the end it was Ivar and Bjorn he respected the most but especially ivar for his problems and resilence to life
Naw he didn’t confront Bjorn because when his brothers were plotting against Ragnar, Bjorn told them he wasn’t with that shit. Ragnar only confronted the ones who were plotting on him
Nobody can ever replace the affect Travis had on set. Not a single show or movie about Vikings has surpassed this nor even caught my interest besides Vikings Valhalla n the last kingdom. Both are decent but can never be better than Vikings. Ragnars character was that to behold, such raw amazing talent in acting n Ivar carried after his death. Each character had so much impact on me n it was amazing
All his sons have a piece of him... Bjorn has his curiosity and desire to learn new things Ivar has his thirst for greatness and ability to think differently and more strategic Ubbe has his compassion and sympathy Fitzserk (however you spell it) has his loyalty Sigurd has his wit and rebelliousness
Man I wish they would have kept Sigurd in the show for longer, so much potential for that character you can see how he looks into Ragnar’s eyes with that Viking fury🔥🔥Amazing edit
I wish this poster gets what they deserve for stealing copyrighted content and trying to profit off it. I'm already stirring up a hornet's nest of copyright for them. Maybe OP will go the way of Sigurd and be written out of life by their decisions.
He knew each of his sons so well that he knew what they would do and what he should do. Ivar and bjorn would have definitely killed him under the right circumstances
What always amazed me about Ragnar, is that he was the King, he was so intimidating and respected none of his sons or anyone in the village would dare challenge him. HOWEVER, somehow he also has these, cheeky almost "cute" moments, like right after he tells Ivar "There's no mistaking you" he pulls such a playful coy smirk.
I watched this serie first in english, the first 3 episodes to improve my english but than watched it in german. I can say that the character ragnar is 1million times better and cooler in english. Although im not very good at english. He played his role very well
Not long before this scene most of his son were talking about killing him if the ever saw him and when he shows up weak, old and alone they were terrified and the whole village didn't dare to take one step. It really shows how feared and respected he was even in his lowest of moments.
