A quick intro to the life and work of Victorian actress and stage icon Ellen Terry.
Ellen Terry was one of the most famous victorian actresses with a career spanning nearly 7 decades. In this video I've aimed to give a super short intro to Ellen Terry's life, career, creative friends and the artworks that helped to make her a theatre icon. She modelled for John Singer Sargent's painting 'Ellen Terry as Lady Macbeth' which became an iconic work, and featured in many of Julia Margaret Cameron's most famous photographs. However, she was much more than just a muse... as well as being an incredibly successful stage actress, she was a writer, theatre producer, and toured the world giving lectures on Shakespeare. She was part of Victorian London's creative circle, with artists and writers like Oscar Wilde and Edward Burne-Jones among her best friends.
