He reduced the amount of flour coming into the country, because on his trip to India, he discovered that roti was made from rice flour and he was jubilant on his return to share that information with the people. Flour was a US subsidized program, and he wanted you ungrateful Guyanese to grow your own rice flour industry. Flour is now a major global commodity and a lot of you idiots are using it now to make roti. The PPP brainwashed you people.

His vision of self sufficiency was a very good start. Back in the days we produced refrigerators, tapir vehicles and thee list goes on.... Do like the amerindians, they have ketchup factories, pepper factories right here in Guyana's interior.

Interesting perspective! Everyone is entitled to their views. Burnham was a savior to those who loved him. Like every leader he was flawed. Only the Almighty could be his true judge. International pundits assess leaders with their own biases. Yet, those are the voices that dominate the world. Knowing these limitations are liberating to a person's soul.
