Benedikt Koehler is a natural storyteller with a sure instinct for the interesting detail. I've listened to several lectures and talks on Ibn Khaldun the last few days and this is by far the most informative, and most interesting, of the bunch.
It is so sad to see that such great work by Ibn Khaldun were never acknowledged by Islamic world. If only they would have read and implemented Ibn Khaldun's work in their policy, the world would have been very different.
The figure you have shown as a drawing of Ibn Khadiun, was used in my primary school book to represent Avecina! I have noticed the same mixing of characters about drawn pictures we knew as Razi, Biruni, xwarazmi, etc.
