The sixteenth century witnessed a phenomenal, short-lived explosion of Jewish spiritual creativity, centered in the sleepy Galilean town of Safed (Tsfat). Along with greats such as Rabbi Yosef Karo, Rabbi Moshe Cordovero was one of the founders of that unusual place, attracting still more Rabbis and especially Kabbalists to the mountaintop community, including Rabbi Cordovero’s most prominent disciple, Rabbi Isaac Luria (the Arizal).

10:30 Greetings, Dr. Abramson. I think it is worth noting also the practical considerations. A set of Hebrew type can contain very few pieces of type, 27 characters (including the five final forms). By comparison, the Arabic alphabet contains 28 letters, each of which can have up to four forms, initial, medial, final, and isolate. Additionally there are more than a handful of special letter forms used for specific combinations. Such a type set is already five times larger, and hence more expensive, than a Hebrew set. But that's just for starters. Hebrew uses no ligatures, so setting the type is easy as pie and can be done well with comparatively little training. In contrast, Arabic uses very many ligatures. Even four pieces of type for a particular letter may not be sufficient to have its ligature line up with its neighbor in every possible position. This requires still more pieces of type to correct for. Considering all of this, also realize how much more skill and training is required to set a page of type.

When you mention in Tzimtzum that G-d contracted HIMSELF to leave a vacuum, do you mean that G-d left the vacuum devoid of G-d Himself, or do you mean that G-d remained present in that vacuum, while His presence became concealed? In short, would you hold that there exists a place where G-d is absent?

Dear Dr Abramson, 8:00 There s something you don t get about Portuguese Jews! And you keep repeating the same thing on and on .. in each videos concerning them! Here s what : In 1497, Portuguese Jews WERE FORCED TO CONVERT TO CHRISTIANITY! THEY DIDN T HAVE THE CHOICE UNLIKE SPANISH JEWS ! 1/5 of the Portuguese population was Jewish in 1497 ! Portugals population back then was composed of 1 million. Please Doctor Abramson. 9:00 : Amsterdam was not only a refuge for Sephardic Jews against persecution! AMSTERDAM was called the "JERUSALEM OF EUROPE " Nowadays, soon, Porto, in Portugal will be the NEW Jerusalem of Europe ! We will see that soon! Thats not from me! Israeli journalists already mentionned it ! Shalom.
