I don’t think people understand how BTS literally came from an unknown label, worked their way to popularity in Korea THEN broke records, won awards and made it to mainstream/western music, whilst being BARELY able to speak English, spoke at the UN, performed at the Grammys and have MILLIONS of fans globally. They sing, they rap, they dance, they entertain. They are versatile, their music ranges from rap, hip-hop, pop, pop-rock, k-pop. They have been compared to the Beatles. Personally, tho I’m a directioner and an army, for me it’s BTS lol, but I’m open to hear any oppositions.

PD Bang was a very famous producer but not much influential like others... BigHit started from zero with the boys. And when they debuted, there was high competition from all big3 still they managed to crash and open the western wall. Bigbang or artists from SM and JYP didn't have much competition when they debuted. But when they became big there was high competition among themselves and artists outside big3 thrived to get past all this hardships.

I was never into any pop bands whether the western or K-pop.I kinda had disinterest towards following celebrities always though I like their works and appreciate..admire and respect it. It was very accidentally I came to know about BTS and now they are an inseperable part of my life like a medicine like a stress reliever. I love them unconditionally for what they are like their extreme humble and adorable personalities and of course their incredible talent and achievements.

You can never compare them, they’re all legends on their own. Made their names big on their own HARDWORK. And it paid off successfully. All are deserving to be famous and successful.

I think the Asian theory did take this into consideration. Both one direction and definitely the Beatles were popular in Asia. All of these groups are extremely successful and have done great things. Beatlemania helped create fan culture as we know it today. The Backstreet Boys helped create boy bands as we know them today - an influence in kpop. One direction helped propel boy bands and fan culture into the 21st century. Bts are perfecting and revolutionizing the idea of the boy band. They all have had an important role to play.
I’m totally agree whit you, 1D and Back Streets Boys are amazing, but their songs are in English, BTS songs are in korean and still manage to connect and transmit messages to people, and that is a great achievement 💜.
The difference is the art they give. All of them are great but Bangtan has something that no group has. They are real artists: lyrics, production, rap, sing, dance. You can relate to BTS songs if you are 10 years old or 50 years old.

Agreed! I became an army this year, and it changed my life. I felt I understood their message, even if I don’t understand their language, I look at the translation and I feel I understand. I get made fun of for liking them, but I don’t care, they brought me happiness and taught me to love myself.

i would like to point out comparing artists from different generations. bts are leading an era where buying the physical album is basically useless, as there are streaming apps and stuff like that. however, in the 90s, such streaming apps were not available, making fans buy the physical albums (which would lead to bigger sales). same thing the other way around. so many people can access music today so it’ll be inevitable for today’s artists and heartthrobs to have more fans than the artists of the last generation. so, i think it is important to keep in mind the different circumstances of the different time periods! great video!
in this era buying the physical album is just to have the feeling of owning something it doesn't really mean anything anymore. I think it's just to have the things that come with the album like posters and photo cards. It's just used as display or decoration so I agree with this comment

As a Directioner who recently became Army I can say that I've never seen a group like BTS before. These guys are pure talent and 100% self-made. They came from a bankrupt company in Korea and managed to work their way up to now becoming the biggest group in the world. They literally do it all and they do all genres. They address important topics in their songs like mental health, societal expectations from youths, and self-love so their lyrics are often very powerful, empowering, and comforting. Not to mention how humble, genuine, charismatic and funny they are, and how they truly care about their fans and about each other. I really wish I'd given them a chance earlier 💜
