I say again as I have said before and will always hold, that one fighter left off the list of what should be FIVE Kings is Wilfred Benitez! Benitez fought Leonard as a defending champion and after ONE knockdown the fight was stopped with 15 seconds remaining in the last round! I think Leonard would have won the decision but this stoppage was pure disrespect IMO. Benitez BEAT Roberto Duran at 154, and fought a tremendous fight that went the distance with Thomas Hearns. He never fought Hagler because he just wasn't going to make middleweight, but still I believe he belongs on the list as more than some honorable mention.

@@peteparry9730 You are right on point sir it was an early stopage. Anyone that knows Benitez style knows he would lure fighters with his back in the ropes and get the best of the exchanges and that was exactly what he was trying to do when the ref got between him and Ray. Yes he would've lost on points cause of the knockdown. The Duran fight wasn't even close the guy was so pissed he wouldn't salute Benitez after the fight. I still remember that KO againt Maurice Hope at 154 I was watching it live with my father, good times.

I'm going with the one that started at 118, became the best lightweight in boxing history, beat the undefeated gold medallist star at welterweight, and even ko'ed a middleweight champion. The man that climbed 10 weight classes.

Roberto Duran was the most skilled out of the Fab Four, but Hagler beat them all (robbed against Leonard)

I also think he was robbed against Ray now did I just have much more appreciation of Marvelous wars (Mugabi, etc...) or was it Ray trying to flurry and steal the rounds. Marvelous was the killer with iron jaw. I'm still mad about that fight.

Overall career: 1. Duran 2. Leonard 3. Hagler 4. Hearns During 4 kings era: 1. Leonard - Beat all 2. Hagler - beat all except leonard(arguably beat) 3. Duran - first to beat prime leonard 4. Hearns - only beat an out of prime duran coming off loss

I gotta go with Duran, his wrestling technique to get his opponents in the corner was good and he was a good boxer being both defensive and offensive. He also showed many champions that he was boss. Such as Sugar Ray Leonard, Davey Moore, Ken Buchanan, and Iran Barkley.

Too difficult for my to decide. But i see things abit differently than you did: If we look at skill - im not sure hearns was less skilled than leonard. Yes, he was less durable, and not as smart - but as for his skills? I only know about one single boxer who wasnt outboxed: hearns. He outboxed benitez, leonard, hill (at 175). Outboxing tommy hearns was science fiction - including way slower and past his prime version of hearns. Also a fact you got wrong - the rematch between hearns and leonard was ruled a draw - and not a leonard win. I also got ray winning vs the marvelous one. Marvin and roberto were the two that dominated a division - im not sure who impressed me more - both runs were exceptional and just as i see duran the best lw i have ever seen, i also see hagler the best mw i ever seen. Tommy (or mcallum) was the best at 154, and a 147 atg. Ray leonard was 147 atg. Tommy hearns was the 1st man to win titles in 4 weight divisions, and also later, the 1st man to win in 5. To me he is a bit underrated. But as i said - im not sure at all how to rate them. They can all be no1.

By their records of winning against each others,Marvin won,if not it's Ray,achievement, and prime skill wise?,Roberto Duran,he can legit box then the next second bullrushes you to death, marvin is the same but Duran is more well round with better records on lightweight,Marvin has 60+ wins but Duran has 70+ wins.
