As a Bukharian Jew, I understand the dialect of Farsi that was used in the argument between Simentov and the Rabbi, so I know the translation did not fully capture everything they said to each other…in the original language it’s even more hilarious!
Wow, so cool. Didn't know the existence of Bukharian Jews. I just googled your community out. Beautiful vivid pics of your community. The ethnic costumes look so beautiful and colourful. I will find out more about Bukharian Jews from now on.
@@esther_18 Bukharian Jews were early 19th century participants in settling the Land of Israel, first as traditional Jews in Yerushalayim and eventually as participants in all aspects of Zionist activity.
Just want to say pashtuns aren't descendants of jews, they adopted islam and choose some customs more closely relating to jews in Afghanistan. But respect to all jews 🇮🇷🇦🇫🇮🇳❤️🇮🇱
Some of the pashtuns are jews who's ancestors were converted to islam by force. Many arabs in the middle east had jewish ancestors who were converted to islam at the pain of death. As much as arabs want to bravado how great of a nation they are and claim islam is peace, in reality, half of arabs in the middle east have jewish dna

I am an Afghan who met the author of the book of the lost tribe of Israel Rav Eleyahu Avikhail at his residence when he was alive. Pashtuns are not the lost tribe of Israel. Pashtuns belong to the Iranic people. Only people of Kabul light the candles on Thursday and not on Friday. Pashtuns don't light anything. Dari/Persian speaking people can be the last tribe of Israel especially from Herat, Farah and Kabul.
3:03 - he mention they fled to israel because of the actions of amir abdul rahman khan. but abdul rahman khan died in 1901. israel as a country did not exist yet.
Israel is more than 3,000 years old. Israel and Hebrew are millennia older than Islam or Arabic, which is why Islam is based on Jewish stories and mentions Israel and the Children of Israel and our prophets (Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses) in the Quran. The Mesha Stele is from 840B.C. and mentions Israel, the indigenous people (the Jews), thr Jews’ king (King Omri), and the Jews’ G-d (Y-VH). The Arab (and, after, Ottoman) colonization of the Levant didn’t start until almost 2,000yrs. later. Will you let me know what the Ancient Palestinians called it? Well, the Ancient Philistines (who lived in just Philistia, and never ruled all of Israel) were Greek. India wasn’t made a country until 1947. Do you think that India started in 1947? Really? Egypt in 1922. Syria in 1946. Lebanon in 1949. Are you confused about it? Why do you think that there are so many Ancient structures from the Jews (and the Jews only), the indigenous ppl, on that land? Where are others’ ancient structures on that land? Where are others’ ancient stories on that land? Our Tanakh is 2,500yrs. old, the Torah much older. The Tanakh mentions Israel more than 2,000 times. Can you point me to evidence of any other people living there in ancient times, or explain why the Ancient Philistines were Greek but the Palestinians are not? Can you let me know all of those ancient stories or about all of those pieces of archeological evidence? Thanks!!!!
Jewish refugees settling in Palestine started in the 1890s. By the 1940s Palestine had a very large Jewish population. In the late 40s when the Jewish settlers declared a state for themselves the rest of Jews in the middle east were ethnically cleansed and displaced to the newly formed state. Sure, many Palestinians were displaced, but that is only the result of Jews not being welcomed anywhere else. If the Arab world vowed to stop fighting for the death of Israel then Jews, Christians, and Muslims could finally live peacefully in Palestine/Israel/Whatever it is called.

I am from Mexico, from the city of Puebla, My city was founded by a Jewish woman Mirian Pérez or María de Estrada, Some historians say she was a Spanish Jewish woman Please can you talk about the Jewish community in Mexico, its history dates back to the time of the viceroyalty of Nueva España when several Sephardic Jews arrived as crypto-Jews.
My grandpa's 2nd cousin! It's a shame we wernt welcomed in Afghanistan and these same people say we aren't welcomed in Israel Most of israels population are Sephardic jews not European! Kicked out or Muslim countries and found home in israel where our ancestors were from and our holy sites are. The world can either accept peace or attack us, but unlike before we can defend ourselves now and take our security very seriously
That's bull crap ! All of a sudden at the time of creation of Israel jews started having problem in Arab after these many years ? Europeans didn't want jews near them, otherwise they would have created Israel somewhere in Europe!
You were welcomed there for the thousand years b4 western intervention. Stop trying to make yourself out to be some sole victim. Even excluding former USSR, Israeli population is more than a third Ashkenazim. You weren't formally "kicked out" of *any* Muslim countries, to my knowledge- if anything, they tried to bar any migration, for obvious reasons. Everyone has ancestors from everywhere, doesn't give me the right to lay claim on any portion of land for myself. Never before, and not even now, were Muslims against the idea of Jews living in the holy land. We all have holy sites there, hence its very name. We're the ones that reestablished your presence after the Romans expelled you. It's a shame you can't even recognize that, how ungrateful. Lastly, someone in an offensive posture, who seized land from native inhabitants, can never be described as "peaceful". This tribalism of us vs them, and the relentless fearmongering, is what perpetuates this very tired "conflict".
Do you hear yourself. Its not feasible to exterminate an entire population of people. Even Hitler failed to kill all European Jews and he had many years. All Hitler could do was kill 6 out of the 9.5 million European Jews and he was literally pushing them into mas killing chambers. Meanwhile only 40 thousand out of 2 million people have died after a year of fighting in an actual war in Gaza. My point is; the logic that the Taliban didn't persecute Jews because afghani Jews weren't all kills is the same logic as Israeli Jews saying that they could exterminate the Gazans if they wanted too.
Really interesting to see this covered. I always thought there were some interesting similarities between Pushtu and Hebrew, especially in the throat sounds. Again, it all goes back to the promise, "as many as the stars in the heavens"! We are everywhere, Abraham's seed.
New subscriber here! Thank you very much for sharing many interesting videos about diverse topics related to the rich history of the Jewish people. Especially with videos of long lost, undocumented and forgotten history that do tell us a lot about where people come from. 🙏
You know what's even more heart wrenching is that there are basically no hindus,Buddhists or sikhs left in Afghanistan it was once our homeland completely in sync with the rest of the indian civilization then islam came and everything that we built over thousands of years was erased in a few decades and now all we have are the ruins of our temples, statutes and once thriving civilization.
I don't necessarily agree with your comment because tolerating 'everything' destroys the possibility of truth and normativity, which further undermines the relevance of justice and objective morality. However, everyone should, of course, be allowed to practice their religion lest they transgress.
He was the last Afghan "Hebrew" Jew, there are still Persian Jews blending in with the population, they need our prayers along with the Afghan churches,
@UNPACKED One!!? Everything was inaccurate, and as a Pashtun from Afghanistan, I only address a few of them; 1. There is no custom of lighting candles on Fridays in Afghanistan. 2. There is no marriage under chuppah in Afghanistan. 3. Afghans or Pashtuns have no relationship with Bani Israel and its 10 lost tribes... Pashtuns were a Vedic Indo-Aryan tribe that have lived in the valleys of Hindu Kush for millennia 4. There are so many etymological discussions about the meaning of Kabul, and the prominent idea is that it's derived from Avesta (sacred book of Zoroastrianism), which means ("High Place. I did not hear in any academic or even legendary discussion that there is a link b/w Kabul and Kain and Abel. It's absurd. 5. Yes, Jews came to Afghanistan mostly from Iraq and Iran, who felt it safer for themselves in Afghanistan. But many of them came to Afghanistan for business as Afghanistan was the main gateway to the silk road. From the very beginning until now, Jews did not face any discrimination or prosecution in Afghanistan because Muslims treat followers of the heavenly books with absolute justice, and this has been proved in the course of history. If Muslim had any problems with Jews, the jews would not make these nations their homelands. The thing you said about Jews paying tax along with other minorities in the contemporary history of Afghanistan is absolute nonsense. During the war, you should either go to the military service when you're at a certain age, or you should pay the specific amount of money so that the government can pay another volunteer instead of you. This was the common rule for all, and jews were no exception. This is like the government in a country oppressing all the population, and you pick up a certain group and claim that this group is oppressed. This is very hypocritical. 6. You said about the Jews pograms in 1934... This is absolute nonsense. At that time, a secular king was ruling Afghanistan with friendly ties with the USA. In reality, if we have seen an influx in migration of Jews from the Middle Eastern and Central Asian countries to Israel in the period you mentioned. it's because at the time we already had the Balfour Declaration and and many jews wanted to go to palestine themselves( of course with a lot of pull factor from Jews in palestine) during the 5th Aliyah. 6. Yes, the Afghan government tries to preserve the historical heritage of Afghanistan. There were some historical scrolls that belonged to all Afghans, and the government could not trust an old lunatic man with this historic scroll. Zabalon receives tens of thousands of dollars from Jewish organizations for his so-called custodianship of the synagogues, and he could take these historic scrolls with himself to Israel one day. So that's why our government confiscated them. 7. In the end, you portrayed this as the annihilation of jews in Afghanistan, without any proof and evidence. During the course of the contemporary history of Afghanistan, more than 10 million Afghans left the country, including 4000 jews. It is worth mentioning that those 4000 Jews had an incentive, too, and that was living in a more developed country with a lot of privileges and allowances. You called it annihilation, I like to call it a honeymoon trip. Best regards and love!

Thanks for sharing your opinions and personal experiences. Re: 1, 2, 3, 4 - you should study more about the history of your own people. There are a lot of experts, including Pashtuns, who’ve studied and written about it. So just because you’ve never heard about it doesn’t make it false. In terms of your latter points - that’s nice that you call it a honeymoon and deny pogroms, but being forced out of your country isn’t all fun and games - and there’s a reason there is no Jewish community left in Afghanistan anymore. It’s a real shame, as is what’s happened to Afghanistan since then.

FYI... A Jewish divorce requires both the agreement of the husband and the wife. There are also men who are stuck because their wives refuse to accept the get. The get is just a physical demonstration of willingness of both the husband and the wife to agree to the divorce. A man might make a get and try to give it to his wife and she can refuse and he is stuck married to her.
But if he has a child with another woman, that child is not a mamzer. And some authorities will even allow him to remarry (take a second wife technically). So it’s more of an issue for the woman.
In theory, yes, but the woman doesn’t have the equivalent of heter meah rabbanim at her disposal. Because polygamy is biblically allowed but polyandry is not.
@@arimermelstein9167For sure, the resulting situation where one spouse denies approval to divorce results in a different situation for men versus women, but the situation is horrible for the victim whether you are a woman or a man. But the reality is that most people, even most Orthodox Jews, do not realize that this situation happens to both men and women, not just to women. I have only heard of one heter meah in my life and it was given to a man whose wife was in a coma for over two decades without any hope of waking up. Even in cases where a wife refuses to accept the divorce for no good reason, I have not heard of a heter being granted (but that does not mean it did not happen, I just never heard of it). As you can imagine, it is next to impossible to get a heter meah.
@@MehWhatever99As you described, the situation is different for male versus female victims but both their situations are horrible. What bothers me is that people only seem to care about the female victims and could not care less about the male victims. We should care about all the victims and we should acknowledge that it happens to men just as often as it happens to women.
In Islam, man can say divorce 3x thats enough for a divorce (but its better only to say 2x as the saying it 3x is considered bad and sinning because it has legal complications as well like if they makeup up later in the future they cannot marry again. If only 2x times then can remarry again) and the women can get a khula which usually take 1 month or 2 months even if husband refuses and runs off....divorced is one thing Allah swt allowed it as some cases it can cause harm like husband alcoholic, domestic violence, druggy, gambler and does not provide for wife etc similar case for men

You left the part where Zebulon claimed that he was tasked by Israel to claim the Jewish scrolls? I don't know if you did it on purpose, but you made it sounds like the Taliban confiscated the scrolls for no reason. Zebulon said it HIMSELF that he was asked by Israel to bring the scrolls back, but Isaac reported him to the Taliban and got him arrested. So not only you potrayed the Taliban misleadingly, you didn't give Levy enough credits for wanting to keep the traditions passed by his ancestors to stay withing his homeland, instead potraying him just as a grumpy old man.
The Quran and Hadith do not specifically mandate distinct clothing for non-Muslims living in Islamic societies. Instead, the practice of requiring non-Muslims to dress differently was often based on interpretations of Islamic law and historical customs rather than direct textual guidance. The jizya tax itself is mentioned in the Quran (9:29), but the specifics of how non-Muslims should dress are not outlined in the Quran. Similarly, while there may be historical examples or interpretations from Hadith that touch on the treatment of non-Muslims in society, they do not provide any instructions regarding their clothing. The practice of requiring non-Muslims to dress differently likely evolved as a social and administrative measure rather than being directly derived from religious texts. It's important to remember that interpretations of Islamic law and practices have varied over time and across different regions, leading to a range of customs and practices regarding the treatment of non-Muslims in Islamic societies.

@@GigaGoose123 so since 1952 there has been no form of persecution of Jews at all.... But since 1918 Israelis Zionists HAVE been violating the Geneva convention in their efforts to have all of Palestine, now Israel, a Jewish only state. Well, not really just Arab Muslims, but also Arab Christians... AND Arab Jews. So it's not really so much about religion, as it is about race. At the end of the day it is colonisation, and removing the native populace. Come on man... That stuff hasn't happened since the 20th century at most, except in Israel. How backwards do people have to be to think that's okay? October 7th didn't happen in a vacuum. Hamas may have shot up the Gaza division of IDF, and a few others, but they were after hostages so they could trade them for their own people held without trial. That happened regularly enough for even me to know about it. Are u aware most of the people killed that day were so by the IDF? Hannibal doctrine extended to include civilians. Just finally, I'm loving all these Jewish folk, rabbi's and doctors included, showing so much support for Gaza, and calling for an end to the war. Just because someone is anti-apartheid, anti-genocide, anti-violence, does not mean they are anti-semitic... 🕊️
We have a segment about it in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--Ge0Y6YlU1Q.html And we made some tiktoks about it here: www.tiktok.com/@jewishunpacked/video/7270629350419057925 and here: www.tiktok.com/@jewishunpacked/video/7199749500758461702
I honestly don’t understand why it’s rarely mentioned that Afghanistan was actually the very only Muslim majority country that did not revoke its Jewish population citizenship when they left for Israel. Meaning, they could still keep their afghan nationality if they wanted to. Meanwhile, in every other Muslim country, the Jews had to give away their citizenship when they left for Israel. So that in itself is quite commendable for Afghanistan.
Leave Afghanistan to Afghani. you bombed this country for years. leave this country alone. the last jew in Afganistan made his choice on his own free will. don't twist anything.
Sanra igbos who said Jesus died in Southeast? Una go just dey disgrace una self upandan... You all have been saying this for generations even they are not taking you serious 😂😂😂
Similarities between jewish culture and persian/afghan culture do not automatically mean Afghans or Persians who have these means they might be decendets from jewish tribes or so. Jews were influenced by Persian culture more than vice versa and looking critical on the developement of Judaism and Persian/Afghan beliefs Persians were usually first and even their monotheism is older than Judaism when you compare real facts not beliefs.
The entire Saudi Arabian peninsula is actually the native land of Christians and Jews. Gen.oc.ide was committed against them, and those lucky enough to flee from the brutality when their entire land was taken from them, spread in all directions.
lol I have a jewish friend and he's the type of guy to avoid an execution in yemen or wherever because he's so annoying that the executioners would refuse to go near him, but to me he's annoying in a charming way and he always makes me laugh, he's like one of those jewish stereotypes in south park or family guy
It seems like the narrator is mixing Jew as Religion and Jew as people. I think this type of narrative emerged after the European Jewish settlers arrived in Palestine . Just an opinion .
We are the Israelites, our DAN is the Israelites, and we are Afghans, we love Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, David, Solomon, and we are proud of the Israelites, but we do not come to Palestine, Palestine Arabs. There are lands, our land is not, and we stand with Palestine, and our tribe will never stand with the Jews.
@@esther_18 So you are saying that your god needs to keep track of things in real time, i think your god has limited knowledge of what he has created.
When you cry about the injustice of Palestinians just remember the entire Jewish population was ethnically cleansed from the Middle East except for 10k left in Iran. And most of them ended up in Israel. This channel made video on it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Y4NjZBD9fW4.htmlsi=dD_yhOytd-ytfOB2
The isareli Mosad caused many problems by recruiting arab jews to cause terror in their home countries during the 50s and 60s, for example, the 12 Egypt jews who were caught after bombing civilian locations in Alexanderia, Egypt.
@@sholay706 Weasel words. 'Willingly' because they heard of pogroms and forced conversions and left before it could happen to them? Israel was a foreign place filled with Europeans and not exactly something they would leave their homes of generations for 'willingly'.
@@Sultan-w5q No they massacred Jews before and after the state of Israel. Notice how every single religion except Islam is persecuted in the Middle East.
with all due respect , first the viewers have to understand that taliban do not represent islam and second of all you have to understand that majority of the jews got out of the country safely while in palestine , a massacre is being done by the military power of israel , they are not allowed to leave , and are being bombed in places where israel had promissed them to take as a shelter that they will not bomb those places , their homes are being distroyed and literal thousands of father are holding their child's dead beheaded body in their own hands.
With all due respect, this isn't a video about Israel or Hamas. But since you're going there, first you have to understand that there's a war going on in Gaza, and yet Israel allows the civilains to leave to safe zones, while they bomb Hamas. It's too bad Hamas hides in and fires from safe zones, isn't it?. And why didn't Egypt allow them to flee as refugees?? Dara Horn is wrong. Afghanistan is still not a homogeneous society. There are still lots of different etnicities in Afghanistan. Sadly the Jewish community could not thrive over there. Like the Palestinian community right now.
Haha only a true Jew would rather live in Afghanistan under Taliban rule than pay his wife’s divorce fees 😂🙈 I’m Jewish by the way but found this hilarious
Islam give freedom of religion and so the taliban cannot force anyone to convert or to flee. There are still thousands for non muslims in afghanistan who enjoy freedom and respect from government and from the society. Please donot label taliban as some kind of dark force. They only fought americans because of they invaded our country.
