Who Was The Real Robin Hood

This is the first episode in the ‘Truth Behind The Legend Series’ - where I look into the truth behind the Robin Hood legend and the real histories of the men who inspired it.
Consider this episode an introduction to the series. Here we establish that when it comes to identifying the real Robin Hood, it is simply impossible to single out just one individual - thus far no one has been able to forge a link strong enough between the Robin Hood legend and a single man.
To better understand the concept of a real Robin Hood, it’s simply a matter of changing ones perspective. . . .

@@the_hooded_man_there's no comment section on here for Me, so I've had to come here..I come on channels and find no comment box whatsoever , this video is very repetitive, you should look how many times you say that robin hood was many men..you repeat a whole section of commentary twice at one point word for word. The structure is all over, with no consistent start/end , it's just a lot of rambling that gets lost within itself to the point of clouding what's already been said. If I ever get spare time from my own creating I'll edit this for you into a more cohesive whole that's easier to follow because although it's unstructured and cloudy the actual content within is great..you evidently filmed your material and then edited it but failed to add linking material and establishing set ups to lead into the different elements of storytelling eg - places from stories ,the person who was people, the historical context , truth or fiction, wrap-up, link to further videos. These elements are all mixed up together tho. Love the thumbnail,.dynamic ,striking , simple yet complex..great use of screen space. The only thing missing....a ? Below hood. That can be remedied in less than a min. Look forward to seeing the individual characters from history videos..hopefully there's one already dropped,.I'm now off to look..apart from my creative criticism , great work. 🙏

@@Sol-Cutta thank you for taking the time to analyse my video. Please don’t edit it though. There is a structure to this video. It may not be fleshed out well, but it’s there. There’s a clear intro and setup then I analyse the various fictional RH works and establish there were several different fictional Robin Hood characters. Then move onto analysing the various historical aspects. I try to end both of these sections off with a ‘recap’, where I do repeat myself, but it’s for the purpose of driving my points home. I finish with a conclusion section which also covers most of what I’ve already said, but again, I’m just recapping and really trying to get those points across. I do appreciate the feedback though. I understand there’s room for improvement, but this is my first attempt at a long form documentary.

@@the_hooded_man_ oh definitely see good things to come, I got that it was your first long form as I read the comment from the guy who said he had been asking for ages for that.. as said this my first view of the channel and as a creator myself I can't help stick my snout in, fortunately most people take it in the intended way, if I didnt like it, I just skip on and don't comment let alone perform autopsies on the cold corpse of your video 😂😂😂 what is nice and we all see this , is in 6 months, a year from now you will look back at this video and see how far on you've come..practice does indeed make....one a lot lot more proficient. Yes , I did certainly enjoy the video as I commented and I looked for more of the same..noted , I won't go doing any edit then, tho to blow my own trumpet im a cracking editor with other peoples footage, for some reason I work best having to shoehorn scenes together where they are immensely difficult to slot in perfect, but perfect I do get them, I've spent a whole week at times getting just one tiny slither of a scene to glue seamlessly, obviously my nature of content creation necessitates using others licensed footage, taking © and making it legally reproduceable. So, I look forward to seeing more long form from you, your channel is already great but that will send it stratospheric 😉👍 You have a great way about you and a engaging persona, you tell a good fable..can't wait for more. All the best Robyn, til your next...🙏🙏🙏

I fell in love with the Robin Hood stories as a child many decades ago. My younger sister liked them as well, so she always wanted to play Maid Marian and I was happy to pretend to be my hero. I wanted to act out the fighting which annoyed her greatly, so our playtimes didn’t last long. This is the best discussion about the development of the mythology around Robin Hood from historical sources I’ve read or seen. Pretty sure the reason my favorite weapon in martial arts was the staff might go back to Big John and that childhood influence. Before he had to give it up due to age and health issues, hubby hunted with several types of bows, including a long bow I bought him. I really impressed him when we first met and proceeded to help him butcher a deer. Also, tracked the one deer he didn’t hit with a kill shot by following the blood trail. For the first time, I’m realizing a lot of my interests and some of my beliefs go back to those Robin Hood stories I read over and over again. And, like Robin Hood in my childhood book, I believe in the right of all people to be treated equally before the law. ( though I must also credit my parents who supported the US Civil Rights movement, and human rights at risk to their own safety.) Many kudos on this effort…the filming is excellent as well. Though I now live on the East Coast, I’m originally from Texas in the USA.

Amazing! Just absolutely amazing! You sir are a scholar and a gentleman. I love your way of storytelling. Love your classic Robin Hood attire and the style you have adopted. I found you just some weeks ago, so I've known about you for a while now watching your shorts with great interest, but this is the first time I leave a comment on your channel. There's something about your dialect too that makes your vids unique, something that makes you seem like a medieval person who somehow came into our modern world and I love that. Sure, other English dialects would probably work, but yours adds a unique touch to it in that attire along with the medieval topic. Which English dialect is it? I've heard it before. And I look forward to more of your future long format vids. The style of clothing you're wearing, was it a common style adopted by brigands or was it something more of an outdoorsman style or a yeoman's style, with the hat in mind? I always associate that green style with the feathered elongated hat with medieval yeomen archers, but maybe I am wrong about that. Fun fact: the Swedish word for 'corner' such as that of a table is ''hörn'', which unlike the English word horn sounds very similar to Hern. :D Yes, I am Swedish haha. Love from Sweden and God bless, and I wish you well in the years to come and I look forward to more of your works. And also, I just subscribed. :D 'Ave it bastard! xD

Thank you, my friend.. your support and positive feedback are immensely appreciated. To answer questions, my accent is a mix of Notth Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire and my clothing is that of a 14th century yeoman forester.

Thank you, mate.. yes the legend is more complex than it seems. I recommend ‘The True History of Robin Hood’ by J.W. Walker and ‘Robin Hood an historical enquiry’ by John Bellamy These pertain to the history of Robert Hode of Wakefield Also ‘The Outlaws of Medieval Legend by Maurice Keen’ ‘Robin Hood’ by J.C. Holt ‘Robin Hood the English Outlaw Unmasked’ by David Baldwin this explores the link to Roger Godberd

Very nice video, friend! I also wonder why many cultures all across the world almost always have some sort of "hero stealing from the corrupt and giving to the poor" sort of character in their folklore. It's very interesting, to say the least.
