I have listened to the commentary and read the comments but feel that we have missed an important lesson. these men left home, family to embark on a long, expensive and possibly dangerous journey....why.... to worship the Christ child. they brought gifts fit for a king. and after they left Herod, and saw the star again, they rejoiced. Makes me think about our comfort zone (and mine too)....Some of us will not go across town to worship, we will not share our finances to worship or fall down to worship the Child. Makes me think.
@Bert Clayton no, I think you are reading too much into that. There are many references to the one from Ethiopia and there is a strong probability that they came from different countries at that time in the region.
@@shortvideos6689 I disagree, you can believe how you want. I will believe how I want. If you don't believe Christ is the Holy Messiah, the Son of God, and a God Himself, why watch Christian videos?
The Magi would very likely have had the book of Daniel, so would have known when to look as well, “Know and understand this: From the time the word goes out to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One, the ruler, comes, there will be seven ‘sevens,’ and sixty-two ‘sevens.’ It will be rebuilt with streets and a trench, but in times of trouble. After the sixty-two ‘sevens,’ the Anointed One will be put to death and will have nothing. Work this one out for yourselves, it is correct to they year of the birth of Christ, the Anointed One.
@agus kurniawan jom While in Babylon, because of his ability to interpret dreams and prophecy, Daniel was appointed as leader of those Magii. It seems highly likely that he would have educated generations of Magii about the coming of the Savior of the world.
Zoroastrians believed in a messiah figure too so they probably recognized Jesus as the awaited one which has been prophesied in their Avestas (Zoroastrian holy books).
My best reading on these men were that they were very educated for their time, that they studied much more than just astrology, and that they had good communication with each other. Otherwise seeing that they lived in separate lands, how did they manage to see the sign, assemble together and travel together for this fortuitous event?
Three men coming across the desert are in danger of bandits, horrific dust storms and wild animals, they would have a hard time. At some point they would have been alone because they had to meet with each other or take the entire trip alone. They would have needed guards, pack animals, food, water and a guide. If they passed through hostile land they would have to pay off the owner. I am writing a book about these men and have done lot of research, it was not a walk in the park.
Truly these men were the keepers of the torch of knowledge. I love it when they tell Herod "you are not the true king we seek." Jesus had a troubled relationship with the Pharasise who professed themselves to be wise. Who will carry the Spiratual knowledge in the future? We must continue seek. Follow that Star.

@@rizalitogomba6303 We know His Name is Yashua but there is no J in the Jewish alphabet which is why Gentiles know Him as Jesus. It's from the Greek. Christ means the Massiah the Chosen one of God.
My spelling is wrong sorry. But if you had researched you would find out why at the end of prayers we say in Jesus's Name Amen. As I said no J in the Jewish alphabet.

It was Daniels involvement that would’ve given this info to the magi or magicians of the Babylonian kings. They weren’t kings but they were responsible in choosing kings. Because of Daniel they would’ve know about the Jewish king.
Do you really believe man can change gods plan? then why believe in being anything at all other than that what you are? Become some religious man, some believer in words, you think god created you to worship him, that would be a self deprecating god, creates man to pray to him, what utter fantasy bullshit is that?
WOW! This was so rewarding,, I never know there was so much education involved.Thank you so much for sharing this exciting event that took place so many years ago when our. Savior was born ♥God bless you and your family this Holy Season ♥
Isa. 9:6 unto us a child is born, a Son is given, & the government shall be upon his shoulder: his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Thank you for explaining that. My family and I have been studying this during Christmas time. I will send this one and the frankincense myrrh and gold one to them.
They were the Chaldeans from Babylon bringing the treasure of Daniel, who was a very wealthy when he died, to be given to Jeshua. His parents used this treasure to escape Harod's murder spree of the children.
Seems the Magi's particulars are of more historic interest than are the gifts they brought. And more-- *why* they were brought in the first place. The "why" is the matter of importance. We quibble about who's right and who's wrong, and miss the whole reason, the astounding significance, of the revolutionary arrival.
Excellent teaching. Also if they came from Babylon they may have known the book of Daniel and could calculate the 70 X 7 prophesy. Then they could have known that Messiah would be cut off in the 483rd year subtracting 30 years for the age of a new priest. The star was their verification of that year.
@@christopherhernandez3909 There is no description of the ‘Magi’[A], in the Gospel of Matthew (the only one of the four Gospels to even mention them) other than that they were ‘from the east’ and that they were following a Star in the East that they thought signified the birth of a new King. We are not given how long they traveled, their nationalities, or even how many there were. According to the Bible-dictionary.org: “In the Gospel of St. Matthew, ch. (Matthew 2:1-12) the Magi appear as "wise men"-properly Magians-who were guided by a star from "the east" to Jerusalem, where they suddenly appeared in the days of Herod the Great, inquiring for the new-born king of the Jews, whom they had come to worship. As to the country from which they came, opinions vary greatly; but their following the guidance of a star seems to point to the banks of the Tigris and Euphrates, where astronomy was Cultivated by the Chaldeans.” The orator, herself, said that they were probably Jews whom lived in Babylon; which was east of Bethlehem and Jerusalem. So I’d like to know where he gets the Idea that they would have been “priests of the Persian prophet Zoroaster” A. Some translations render it ‘mages’ or ‘wise men’
If they were so literate in the scriptures, why did they not get that it was Bethlehem? The pharisees had to tell them at the palace of Herod. I believe, they weren't Jewish but for some reason they knew that the star (astrology) was somehow telling about an important king. Otherwise nobody would walk this far and long to worship that king. They also quite reasonably would not habe travelled alone but with a whole caravan I believe. That is why all of Jerusalem noticed their arrival. To me they're still a mystery but I love the symbolism of their gifts and I love their sincere hearts. There's a lot to take from this story.
There could have been 300 wise men. I like to think of them, filled with the wisdom of Persia and Babylon, with Chaldean astronomy still preserved on clay tablets. In the Islamic world guided tour at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan there is an ancient astrolabe. It has disks for each major Mideast city, which show how to navigate across the desert using the stars to each city. The bones of prehistoric camels have been found in the arctic. They were huge, though of course, long gone before the magi.
We do NOT decorate our homes and churches with the Christmas three because of Isaiah, but because we borrowed an old pagan tradition. Read more about it. Though Isaiah have mentioned those wood species, the vast majority of Christians have no idea about it.
Gold Frankincense and Myrrh are used extensively in India . India is to the East of Jerusalem. There are other books written in India about the wisemen visiting Jerusalem and it takes almost two years to reach Jerusalem from India and no one thought of this . Indian read stars and signs more than anyone else . So re think ...
Herod took them in his palace which indicates too, that they were Jews. The word star in Greek can also be translated Angel which makes more logic as to how a star could lead them 500 miles from Babylon to a specific house in Bethlehem.
An anciant church in India claims that one of the wise men is from their place & his name is vishwamitra & mention about him in Mark 9:38 & in Luke 9:49. This as per Rebecca Parker's book "sadhu sundar singh".
The book of Isaiah is a prophetic book about the millennial kingdom of Yahusha Jesus when Israel is lifted up from among all nations. You can’t just lift snippets of verses from it and allude it to the birth of the Messiah. You have to read the whole chapter (60:1-22) to understand that Isaiah did not write it for his time, or to prophesy the birth of Jesus. He was talking about the regathering of Israel. All the verses are intertwined with each other that chopping it up or going back and forth will totally confuse whoever is watching the video.
The other statement reads: the dromedaries of Midian, Ephah, all they from Sheba shall come. The named countries are actually the origins of dromedaries, which indeed originated there. They have nothing to do with any of the wise men being black or from Sheba or from Midian or Ephah. The camels are the running camels literally, able to cover great distances. I wonder if you heard yourself talking in this video, please, watch a replay. I am not-native English speaker and even to me the interpretation of the statements is very clear.
Matthew 2:11 mentions gold frankincense and myrrh specifically. And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh. Matthew 2:11 KJB
I really loved this!! This may be a lesson to all of those Bible Thumpers who say that Jeremiah 10:2-4 is saying that cutting down a tree in the forest, bringing it in the home, and decorating is idolatry. Isaiah 60:13 says something different! Read the glorious Word of God and be enlightened!!
I did extensive research on this when I made my video "The Grinch and the Manger" , available on RU-vid. The most likely scenario is that the Magi came from Persia. The so called Star of David led them from Jerusalem to Bethlehem. Those two cities are less than 5 miles apart, so whatever it was, it flew at low altitude because an actual star would look exactly the same at either location.
@@karzanmuhammed2362 That's a new one on me. I am guessing that you are from the middle east. That would be an amazing feat of navigation, to arrive on the very night that Christ was born. According to the Bible, the Bethlehem Star led the wise men from Jerusalem to Bethlehem, a distance of less than 5 miles. Doing a little math, the star could not have been more than about 500 feet high. A celestial object would appear in the exact same place in the sky from either place because of the distance, and would not have been an accurate means of leading them to Jerusalem, either. Thanks for your reply.
There is a very strong tradition in India, authoritatively known amongst high metaphysicians in tales well told and written in ancient manuscripts, that the wise men of the East who made their way to the infant Jesus in Bethlehem were, in fact, great sages of India.
This is absolutely true, it was prophesied that they would return with the gold, frankincense and myrrh, they were keeping it safe, it was from the cave of treasures where Adam and Eve first lived.🕊️🎶📯
The 3 Magi were Zoroastrian priests from Persia. Zoroastrianism was founded by Zarathustra about 1400 B.C. Zarathustra's name is Zoroaster in the ancient Greek language. The reason the 3 Magi (the 3 Wise Men) traveled westward, was to find the Savior who was prophesied to be born of a virgin west of Persia. A "great heavenly light" (a star) would shine over his place of birth. The Zoroastrian word for the savior is Saoshyant ("the one who brings benefit"). Thus, the Jewish Messiah is the Zoroastrian Saoshyant, the Greek word "Christos" and the English word "Christ."
nice question.please add: if they were jewish why would it take them two years to travel from a place that would normally take four to five months to travel? when they entered betlehem to ask about the whereabout of JESUS, they have with them an INTERPRETER. why would a jew need an interpreter to talk to a fellow jew?
Am I missing something? At first she read in Isaiah that the wise men were Gentiles, and then at 3:30 she says they are Jewish. I am not trying to start a debate at all. I just am confused...
+Jordan Cutright The scripture in Isaiah is referring to the time period of Isaiah when Gentiles came to worship the king of Judah (Isaiah's time period), but she is saying that the wise men after reading this saw a future fulfillment, and choose to come bearing gifts of incense and gold. In other words the scripture has dual fulfillment. Once at the time of Isaiah with gentiles worshiping the king of Judah, and another when most likely Jewish exiles came to worship Christ. Also, many early Christians interpreted this verse to mean that the wise men were gentiles. We really don't know if the wise men were gentiles or Jews, but it is very likely they were Jews. Hope that makes help...
HI mark nice question.i wonder if you are a filipino like me? it took them almost two years to travel because they came from ophir modern day philippines. that's why herod ordered the killing of all babies two years and youngeer. it said EAST not east of jerusalem but east of the earth which is ophir. please watch wise men from the east by the GOD CULTURE HERE IN RU-vid
The magi from the east were from the same order in which the prophet Daniel belonged to. Remember that in Babylon during the time of captivity, Daniel rose to become the chief magus of the king's court. He also prophesied the exact timing of the coming of the Messiah (Daniel 9:25-27) and counted how many years still to come. After the captivity, Daniel was one of the Jews who remained behind. I think we can safely deduce that he continued the order and passed on the secret of when is the Messiah coming in Jerusalem and instructed the next generations of magi to prepare for it and go to Jerusalem when the time has come. So the worship and homage that the magi from the east gave to Jesus was indirectly came from the prophet Daniel.
The Eastern Magi were likely from Parthia (Persia), the realm east of the Holy Land, and were probably followers of the old fire religion. The ancient Persians and Jews were ancient neighbors and even friends, and some traditions said that Jesus even visited them after he grew up...
Beginning at 0:48, Mrs. Rebecca Holt Stay correctly states that of the jews taken into captivity to Babylon, most never returned, and that Babylon was a center of learning for the jews. But then at 1:02 she says “That’s where the wise men came from,” which is a personal hypothesis unsupported either by scripture or secular history. She should have qualified it as such--a personal hypothesis-rather than stating it as though it were fact. Then at 1:27 she says, “If you’re coming to worship the king of the jews, odds are you are jewish...” This is an uneducated statement. She then goes on to say, “...and you’re reading about him in a jewish book...” An equally unsupported hypothesis. There was nothing “jewish” about the ancient Persians, but it was the non-jewish Persians (Cyrus, specifically) who freed the jews from captivity and who built the Second Temple for them in Jerusalem. The jews were incapable of doing either. Well before 1,000 BC the Persian prophet Zoroaster prophesied, centuries before Isaiah, the coming of a “savior” who would be “born of a virgin.” Moreover, ancient Chinese writings of the Han dynasty, 5 BC, chronicle a brilliant comet lasting for seventy (70) days. There were very wise men in Persia and China.
But doesn’t the original Greek of Matthew specifically mention that they were Magi from the east? And Magi or Magos in Greek comes the old persian Majus who are the Zoroastrian Priests of Persia. So the wise kings are probably priests of Zoroaster who has come to see Christ because the Zoroastrian religion itself had a (albeit vague) concept of messiah too just like Judaism. Also these Zoroastrian priests paid particular attention to the stars and gained an international reputation for astrology, which was at that time highly regarded as an advanced science.
John 3:16 and Isaiah 53...& a side note what are those horn looking things at the end of that video on the camel in front of that person riding a camel?
I see something different going on, the magi was a priestly order in the Persian empire, it went from father to son like the Levites, they were interpreters of dreams, basically astrology, the gifts represent Jesus as king, priest, the frankensence was used for incence in the temple for priestly work, the mure was used in those days as embalming fragrance dealing with the dead, these magi were not Kings but did apoint the king's in persia as part of their priestly duty's, so the gifts point strongly to christ, sounds strange coming from a source outside gods people but 600 years earlier a Hebrew man was placed over their order by the king, they tried to have him killed but the Lions were calmed by the Lord, I've been reading this story as containing a message from Daniel through the centuries through loyal members of the magi.
@@shortvideos6689 agreed, the son language is cultural, Mormons take it literaly it's Jewish for his position as the firstborn, the heir of creation, not a literal son.
@@shortvideos6689 what scripture would you hold up as authoritative Outside of the Koran?, I don't know very much about Muslim beliefs and what they accept from the biblical books.
@@shortvideos6689 I've been fascinated how similar Islam is to Mormonism outside of the nature of god, in Islam it's strictly monotheist, in Mormonism it's very polytheist, the story is almost exactly the same, mahamad was more successful at implementing his ideas, Joseph Smith was deeply flawed as a person and got killed, the culture didn't accept his ideas as well either cause he didn't have a big enough army, both belief systems come alot later than the Bible and for me have to be judged in light of the previous revelation, I don't know near as much about Islam as I do Mormonism, but the similarity's are interesting just looking at it through history, I see the triune nature of god revealed in the old testament and more clearly in the new, im not sure what you accept as inspired scripture besides the Qur'an, could you point me to some relevant sura's (hope that's the right term) I have a English Qur'an but haven't read very much of it yet.
@@shortvideos6689 with what I understand about the history of Islam, mahhamad was witness to idolatry within the Christian churches, the statues of Mary and symbolism of saints and the like, I agree that looks bad, it seems his perspective of the Trinity was Jesus and Mary and the father, you should look into the Co regent model in ancient belief, look up the two powers in heaven, Jesus isn't a man that became equal with the father, he is the same nature that became man to redeem man, this idea predates Islam by thousands of years, it's embedded in Genesis and fleshed out in the new testament, look at the akedah, god says he himself would be the sacrifice, it really comes down to what you would accept as inspired scripture
I don't think that 3 kings would travel with these precious gifts without protection. I believe that there were alot more magi. Plus I believe that Daniel prepared these gifts when he was second in command in Babylon.
I really do like this video a lot, but I don't think they said somebody's got to do it, why not us. I think God put it in their hearts from long before they ever realized what their ultimate part in this would be. I think that their every ambition and endeavor ultimately led them to being placed in the position of becoming part of Jesus's foretold prophecy, and the fulfillment of that prophecy.
The wise men did not go to the manger. They visited the house where they saw the young child and his Mother! It was a caravan, which is much more the three wise men. And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Matthew 2:11! King James Version!
This last picture depicts them as bowing to a baby, Jesus was no longer a babe when they arrived but a young child of 2, the story is still incorrectly told.
The picture also depicts them as three men riding their camels, alone. I doubt seriously they traveled two years without a huge caravan of supplies and protection.
You are right there are some inconsistencies like the narrator said the wise men take at least 2 years of travel.from their place up to Israel. Did she even consider how far the distance, is Ethiopia that far?
As a Kurdish I like video. My people belive those wise men were from Kurdistan. Respect and love to whole Jews from your Kurdish friend. Your ancestors live with our ancestors side by side in Mesopotamia.
Good presentation. She is right on these points. We don't know how many, where they came from, or who they were. We do know this. It was not on "Christmas night" on December 25. Jesus was already 2 years old when they arrived. And yes, they did follow a "star." (Probably the star of Revelation 12, the merger of the planets.)
Maybe this was asked but I couldn’t check every comment. I was engaged in the answer until you said it took 2 years to arrive or traveled 2 years via camels. But from where you said they traveled from it would only take 2-6 weeks. They must have come from way farther out but had Jewish ties. Any insights on the travel time?
