I feel like the Anti Monitor would definitely be better as a future villain for the DCU as there needs to be a hell of a lot of build up to a villain as big a scale as him. Especially if James and Peter truly are gonna build up to a crisis event which they most likely are. I would love to see Nekron, The Black hand and the black lanterns as a whole but that also needs to be built up. The shock factor in that storyline was seeing all these beloved heroes and villains who’ve been dead for a while being reanimated as these zombie like monsters with the powers of a black lantern. For them to adapt the blackest night storyline, a major event before would have to take place where The Justice League essentially loses. Kinda like an Infinity War type of event. And then ofc follow up with the brightest day story
The terrifying Lantern threat is most likely their first- Manhunters, DCU is just starting and featuring their biggest opps would be a monumental mistake but, DCU could copy Green Lantern TAS and connect Manhunters to Antimonitor, James Gunn did say he's taking inspiration from DCAU and Green Lantern TAS is canon to it too. However, it's still too early to introduce Anti-monitor and Paralax, my pick would be Brainiac because he could be DCU's Thanos, bringing an entire invasion to Earth and Superman can't beat him alone either way
The best part about using Darkseid as a long term villain is that we can finally get some New God projects I also agree with Mongul being one of the major big bads of this verse. I'd have him be more of a sub-boss before getting into Darkseid imo If we get any Justice League Dark content i'd throw Trigon or the Upside Down man into the mix as well (Maybe Lucifer too but that's just personal bias since i like the show/comic if anything i'd make him a neutral figure) In terms of main street/goverment level antagonists, i'd go with Maxwell Lord, i know Lex is everyones go-to, but Lord is CRIMANALLY(Pun Intended) underrated. Hell, you can make a Checkmate vs Cadmus storyline with him and Waller in the vein of house of cards.
@@tyrellmultimedia true dat but personally I'd make him a JLD villain or have the titans team up with them to take him down The one gripe I have with the og animated series is that the titans didn't call upon any league members to deal with basically super Satan LMAO like what's a staff gonna do against him
@@tyrellmultimediayou can’t do the anti-monitor. He’s already dead and was done in crisis. And yeah it’s canon to all live action so you can’t do him darkseid is the go not anti-monitor
Out of the villains you stated, the only ones I could see being the main overarching villains in the DCU would be Darkseid, Black Lanterns, or Parallax. I can’t see Mongol or the Crime Syndicate being the main villains throughout a whole chapter. Brainiac is more likely than those 2 but like what you and others said, I definitely see him in a Superman Movie. As for Anti Monitor, I don’t think they would jump on him this fast. Legion of Doom don’t really fit the God’s And Monster’s feel but I could definitely see them appear in possibly the 1st Justice League Movie. Out of the 3 I listed above I think the Black Lanterns are probably gonna be the most likely. Darkseid could possibly appear in maybe a Superman movie and is the most obvious choice but I don’t think James Gunn is the type of person to choose Darkseid as the main villain. He seems like the type of guy to choose Nekron and the black lantern as the main villain for the chapter but I could definitely see parallax be the villain as well
The initial main villain for the DCU should be Darkseid but the final boss as it were the character that should be used if Gunn’s ultimate goal is to build up to Crisis On Infinite Earths the main villain should be the Anti Monitor. Villains like the Crime Syndicate and the Legion of Doom could only work for one maybe two movies tops but for Darkseid you can stretch it out but ultimately build up to The Anti Monitor.
Since they described the thing the Lanterns will discover is an "ancient horror on earth" I believe it won't be an alien threat. Options I'm considering are old disabled Manhunters left on earth, Vandal Savage who could form a sort of Legion of Doom and have a Tower of Babel type story, or some ancient magic threat
I really like the idea of Vandal Savage. A man who is immortal and potentially has thousands of years of knowledge and intelligence to take down a team like the Justice League.
As someone 372 days in the future, I believe that the strongest "Loki," for this phase would be The Breach, only changed slightly. You would make The Reach as a scout troop, where they actually report to Mongul and Warworld. Then, Mongul can come to Earth to attack it in Justice League: War of The Worlds, using the intelligence gained from The Reach to lead a semi-successful attack against the planet. Eventually, we'd need at least one film about The Legion of Doom, or even a Forever Evil movie. This would help to build out both (a) Alien Invasions and (b) The Nature of a Cruel Multiverse.
If they want to give crazy I think they will try the antimonitor but considering they want to do phases I think they should try and use small scale villain and do a sort of back to the future style story telling mainly part two to three like the joker or hush for certain heroes and then for the whole team it think villains like mongul and nekron for the justice league and they should not hesitate to kill off characters especially when they can't find things for them to do in the films although they should still have nice send offs
I would like to see Vandal Savage, he may be a smaller character, but why not elevate him? There's a lot of potential, he's a very unique character, which fits Gunn's MO
Maybe in the future (no pun intended). But he is DC's main Time traveling villian and I think that mainstream audiences will likely just see him as a Kang Clone. Give it a few years and if Marvel waste Kang then maybe DC can stick it to them by making a compelling Vandal Savage. It all depends tbh because audience reception and commercial success are heavily linked.
@@himum3429 very good point, although i think he can be interesting and a threat even without that. But you're right, they would probably go for time travel
I think we'd be making a mistake by sifting solely through DC lore when trying to decide on a main antagonist for the DCU. We live in a world saturated with superhero lore from countless other IPs. Whoever becomes this main antagonist will inevitably be compared to characters like Thanos, Kang, and even Homelander. Under a microscope, yes, it is true that Darkseid is a great DC antagonist. However, we've seen the previous iteration of a shared DC universe with Darkseid as the antagonist fizzle out. I believe James Gunn and Peter Safran will be attempting to differentiate their DCU as much as possible from all other previous attempts and anything used prior will be put on the back burner, like Marvel is doing with the Fantastic Four now. So where does that leave us? I honestly don't know. Gun to my head, I'd say Legion of Doom where the first few movies are laying the groundwork by introducing (and not killing off) these supervillains and we finally get an epic team-up of not just the heroes but also the villains. Thematically, it would contrast with the idea of the "one big bad" pulling the strings which we've seen and are seeing with Marvel. One area they can't seem to get right is villain team-ups; just look how mediocre the Black Order was in comparison to Thanos himself. We've seen how capable James Gunn is with assembling a team. Imagine DC's Infinity War where instead of Thanos rampaging across the galaxy, you get duos of Black Manta, Mr Freeze, Sinestro, Lex, and so on notching Ws against the Justice League. A convincing Legion of Doom after a decade of increasingly successful DC movies would be a dream scenario to any comic book fan.
Honestly I would love to see Brainiac! But it break my heart hearing about Darkseid because most like we will not see him as main, I love Darkseid as main threat for DCEU but... if we are going to see him its probably going to be many years to come. I wished genuinely that Darkseid would main villain since he is even was inspiration for none other then Thanos himself!
While I love Darkseid, I think audiences would draw too many comparisons to Thanos. Of course we’d get Darkseid in a perfect world, but Marvel did something too similar.
With the rumors of New Frontier being adapted, I have an idea on who the villain could be. Maybe because The Centre is kind of a villain with no real memorability to audiences, what with him being a giant monster and all, they can implement Vandal Savage to awaken Centre or something similar to that. But hey, that’s just me.
Or what could be better is a joint villain team eg darkseid, Mordu, Vandal Savage and Brainiac ( similar to the light in young justice) a secret organisation within different powers I guess. One in magic, space, mankind . Hope that I guys understand what I mean.😅
I want Darkseid tbh. He wasn’t done justice previously and a slow build up to that to mirror thanos would be great. BUT I know very well that they probably won’t use darkseid since they just used him.
Legion of Doom and Brainiac Darkseid Anti-Monitor Vandal Savage Despero White Martians Crime Syndicate of America (Leave it for Injustice League to face them off) Prometheus (JLA tv show side villain) Amazo (JLA tv show side villain)
Darkseid. Darkseid is known as the destroyer of worlds. “I have turned 100,000 worlds to dust.” Other powerful villains are Trigon, Brainiac, Destiny, Doomsday Mongul, Ra’s Al Ghul.
They could make Brainiac as the Main Villain for the First Chapter and the Legion of Doom as the Main Villain for the Second Chapter and Darkseid as the main villain for the Third Chapter
I think that the green lantern show could be them trying to figure out why a bunch of planets are suddenly being completely wiped out, and in the end, they find out its a early form of doomsday
I love Brainiac but I think it's best to keep him to Superman movies and it was too bad Superman 2 was cancelled :( Even all the changes with DC, I can still see Darkseid being the main villain and we'll just need to wait and see.
I would like for Green Lantern to stumble across Brainiac after beating his own villain in the movie. Then Brainiac can make his way to Earth next movie and then that would alert Lex to protect the world from extraterrestrial beings to include Superman.
The Black Lanterns, The Anti-Monitor or Darkseid are all great villains for the DCU, and should be the main villains IMO. I hope we get a Final Crisis movie one day, since then the Snyderverse cast could fight Darkseid alongside the DCU cast, giving DCEU fans closure like TASM fans got with No Way Home. Another Crisis adaptation without Darkseid would still be cool though. I also want Brainiac in Superman: Legacy and the Legion of Doom as the main villains in a new JL film.
Everyone always pitches characters who are all powerful with the biggest lasers and armies of henchmen, why can’t we get a more interesting kind of threat like, the white Martians, Prometheus, the tower of babble, the legion of doom, the centre, not just “ dcs thanos”
Well I did mention the Legion of Doom but some of what you mentioned are literally armies of henchmen with the biggest lasers. And Darkseid isn't "DC's Thanos" he's much more than that and FAR more deadly.
@@tyrellmultimedia um pretty much any abscure as hell character but I guess to narrow the idea board how about the shining knight or vigilante or Johnny thunder bolt
If the lanterns are finding the threat the anti monitor could work, in the greenlantern animated show the anti monitor wad the main villain of s2 so it could work
To me, I have a feeling that the dcu will do crisis infinite on earths storyline. Coz IMO y would u introduce supergirl???? Or I would like the main dcu villain should be vandal Savage and darkseid working together like in young justice
I know these guys won't be an overarching villain, I would love to see the crime syndicate live action I think its a really cool concept for a justice league film. Not like the Infinity War or endgame of the DCU but definitely a candidate for a second justice league film
They should do darkseid as the main threat for the OG JL members. Trigon for Titans, perhaps have Trigon and darkseid face off similar to thr animated movie. Have trigon/darkseid kill a lot of heroes in the last movie and then titans become new members. Big bad for the new JL is black lanterns with OG JL resurrected
