It is actually insane that a 36 year old player is still considered the best more than 15 years after his debut and is competing with 20 year olds for the biggest individual award in football.
Non of course Messi has no class now. And we like to ignore the fact that the 20 year old, as many goals as he may score, he's most often not the playmaker of the game. Any arguments?
@@nonameguy3665 I mean we are talking about the guy who SUBBED OF HAALAND to prevent him from breaking Messi's record (Messi realistically wouldn't even mind but Pep did). Then later went on to say Haaland's life would be boring if he broke Messi's record to early lmao
I thought Messi would get it cause of outstanding WC, then Haaland cause of amount of goals and trophies, buth then changed my mind back to Messi cause Haaland has ghosted hard since early May. He went missing when it mattered the most and Messi did the exact opposite during the WC.
@@Simon_and_Lami 4 very important pens, which you still have to score under pressure, + the one from the shootout in the final, and 3 goals in normal play. Plus the assists, and in general just leading his team in overall play to the title. After the WC he was still PSG's best player alongside Mbappe, scoring many goals and producing many asists. In fact, without Messi PSG dont win the Ligue 1.
@@Mixed_Ethiopia_Countryball Thats right. Rudiger and Thibaut were focused on Haaland.. Haaland made about 4-7 good shots and Thiba saved it... If Thiba wasnt in form or starting 11. Haaland could make hattrick
Julian Alvarez truly deserves it. He won The Treble with Manchester City and The World Cup with Argentina at the young age of 23 and not only did he win these titles he also contributed in those important games created chances, provided assists and scored goals. I truly believe that Julian Alvarez should get it.
Something many here forget about Kevin De Bruyne. You know, the best assistant in the Champions League and the Premier League. The man who was stable the whole season. He destroyed Arsenal and equalized the score at the Santiago Bernabeu. Helped the team win damn treble. Which begs the question... doesn't the best midfielder in the world deserve the Ballon d'Or?
But the problem is that kevin was no near as important in the ucl as messi in the wc. The battle of the best player of the world should be messi vs de bruyne, because they are the two most complete players with key passes, asists, goals, vision... The 2 best playmakers. And haaland is only a finisher, but was really determinant in the premier and scored a lot of goals. It is really dificult to choose this year not like the others
I've been thinking the same, might be my belgian bias but I don't believe city could have been this succesfull without KDB but between him, messi and haaland I really don't know who deserves it more but I suspect it'll go to messi. since he was great for his country and good for his club while KDB and Haaland were only great for their club but didn't acomplish anything with their country + some of the votes will probably get divided between them since they have the same accomplishment so that might favor messi
I literally died when I saw Maguire trying to enter the Ballon d'Or room 🤣🤣 edit : sorry for the confusion, I meant that I died of laughter (seems that some people don't have a sense of humour)
Messi has gotten it so much, and nobody is gonna get as much as he has for some time that I wouldn't even feel bad if he doesn't get it. Getting the World Cup was all that was left to truly aim for. He has and always will be playing for the fun of the game, Ballon D'or for him at this stage is just a cherry on top
Lionel Messi will most likely win his 8th Ballond'Or this year. World Cup Winner, Golden Ball Winner, Trophee Des Champions Winner, its MVP too, League winner, Top assister in League, Joint most goal contributions in league along with Mbappe, Joint Most Goal Contributions in World Cup, Most Assists in World Cup, 2nd most assists in Top 5 Leagues of Europe behind De Bruyne, Most goal contributions this season, Most big chances created this season, 2nd Most successful dribbles behind Vinicus in European Top 5 Leagues this season, Most Man of the Match & Player of the Tournament awards this season and Highest overall average rating in Europe. Broke numerous records & received countless awards.
cool but halland won the toughest league in the world at the age of 22 and passed the yield in a Cr7 Premier Legue season in his prime in addition to being the top scorer of the season of Europe on your first time and won the triple crown, something Manchester had never done.
It is intensely close. Both deserve the award. My call is messi by the incredible performance in the world cup. He scored in every single match at least one goal and provided breath taking assists and his over gameplay was unmatched. He also had a good season at PSG tied for top assist stats in Eurpoe with De Bruyne and Griezman while also scoring a decent amount of goals. Of course, Halaand’s record breaking season cannot be over looked and of course the treble. Jezzz…. What a decision.
It is insanely difficult indeed, I'm trying to be ultra fair but it's a pain in the ass then I come up with the argument that Messi already has 7 and he doesn't care some it to Haaland but that's not fair at all
@@anotherimpact8302 not really difficult. haaland should win the ballon d'or and 2nd place should be kevin de bruyne or julian alvarez. 3rd place would be messi.
@@tomlesnar6453winning World Cup while being awarded a player of the tournement and missing golden boot in same by just one goal for me should win ballon d or...world cup is biggest trophy just can't deny
The best thing about this video is that even no words are spoken in this video, if you are a true football fans you still understand everything in this video. Well done! From a Real Madrid and Brighton and Hove Albion fan
@@starfootballhubwhy you mad just cuz he said Messi is the oldest 🤡, If Messi is the oldest there, then it means he has more experience, and that is good
Haaland goasted in his. 3 most important finals of his life. For me that’s some minus points. Messi practically this season didn’t goasted a single game. Plus he carried Argentina to the final and scored 2 goals and almost winning every MOTM award in the World Cup. I’m a big Messi fan and because of his age and all individual awards he’s won this year he deserves 1 more ballon d or with all that he’s win this year
Isn't messi has 62 G/A and Halaand 61 G/A. Apart from the majestic world cup Messi won league 1, league 1 top assister, world cup golden ball, most POTM in a single world cup, Same number of player of the week as Halaand even though they knocked out early, fifa player of the year, laureus award. Bruh .. imagine messi doing this in his average season by his standards.
HINT: If you really wanna know who's gonna win Ballon D'or you should check the trend of players that are competing for it the name that pops consistently is likely the one that takes it home. After world cup it was, Messi against Mbappe After City's triumph, Messi vs Haaland/ KDB some even said Alvarez After Nations League it was Messi vs Rodri And Vinicious also came into picture because of his overall performance throughout the seasons. Who else? You probably get the picture now, I mean, I get it, I will kinda be boring to put Messi up there alone. As far as fans, Media and football in general is concerned it's good to compare, and it's important as is enough to know who actually deserves the award. However, some people get lost in this idea probably because of hating on the Little man or they're just tired of him winning, whatever the dillusionality. I'm only glad public isn't the one putting the hand in the ballots.
If Messi wins 8 Ballon d'Ors he is already assured of the Super Ballon d'Or, which only Stefano won after leading world football for more than 30 years.
Halland was outstanding, but his season has been a shame because it was a World Cup moment that had special value for both the player and the coach. Don't forget, Copa America, Finalissima, leagui 1
Ligue 1 title? What’s that? Something even Brentford can win if you swap PSG with them lol. And French super cup? Lol. Sounds impressive but Wrexham with Ben Foster in goal would have more then enough in the tank to dispose Nantes. Talk about relevance ffs.
@@tkt3006epl title? Something even lukaku could afford if playing in that city team, ucl title? Something even lukaku can afford playing in that city team, which is evident from the fact that halland didn't score in any of the semi final or final or crucial stages this season still won the treble
And it was only this 7 Game tournament which people used to taunt him all his life. Now once he achieved, it became just another 7 Game tournament. Woww.... Hypocrisy is limitless...😂
Ronaldo won it in 2002 after dominating the world cup after a injury-laden season with RMA. Cannavaro won it in 2006 after captaining Italy to World Cup glory. Modric won it in 2018 after captaining Croatia to their first world cup final and winning UCL. World Cup gets huge recognition for Balon Dor whether you like it or not
The part where De Bruyne throws the ballon Dor in Haaland’s face is so underrated 😂 there’s LEVELS to the meaning there. Kevin was instrumental in all of City’s success this season, and deserves a LOT of credit for bringing all that out of Haaland. Kudos to Fdor for highlighting what a MONSTER of a playmaker he was in a simple way. The buildup to it, the humor 🤌🏽
Halland was a goal Machine in a great and well rounded team, but not much else. Messi was the heart of both Paris and Argentina, 2 teams that had only a handful of truly good players while the others are mediocre at best and only brought enthusiam and determination. scores, assists, dribbles, pressure, free kicks, key passes- everything. you could argue Halland had a better year in terms of trophies, but Messi was still BETTER as a player.
not much else? 22 year old in his first season at the hardest league in the world broke the goalscoring record with 6 games less. Messi is the goat but he was not the heart of psg in this season, the only reason he is here is for his performance at the world cup
@@unweon9332 PSG was a soulless team of money-grabbers, and that applies to players, managers and owners. It's a team that did not care for football, and Messi cares only about football. This mentality made for a dysfunctional team that can't achieve greateness no matter how many stars they had. And Argentina was favorite thanks to 1 man. All their other players are either young and inexperienced or pretty average players, or very old and washed ones like Di Maria who brought everything he has left in the tank for that WC.
The fact he is at Miami doesn't count. The facts are that Haaland's season was much better than Messi, so if Messi wins the Ballon D'or it will be robbed one more time. The problem is that France Football love Messi too much
@@SpaghettiMafiaAEP your comment indicating ballon d'or winners are decided by France Football showed how stupid penaldo's fans are, as expected. Everyone know it is by the voting.
Messi gonna win it again!!! Haaland ghosted in important matches... Whereas Messi was the man of the match in every single game of the biggest football tournament 🤩🔥
winning a treble is equally difficult as winning the world cup. In terms of individual performance Halaand has an edge. He scored many crucial goals. Halaand deserves the Balon dor more
he didnt score in the semis and final of the UCL and he didnt score in the fa cup final .City won the EPL 2 years in a row before he came . Messi at 35 carried his nation into world cup glory dude scored and assisted in every knockout round and had a brace in the final vs the previous winners. Messi by far has the edge and no winning the treble is not as difficult as winning the world cup as showcased in the video messi already did the treble twice
@@MohammedMohammed-rr8jh entire squad top notch? Aside from Messi and Di maria who else was a super star from that team? France England Brazil and portugal had way better squads
I love Alvarez but he is not completed football yet. He completed most important trophies in football but still lacking in individual awards...then we can say he completed football..
Messi performances in league one were horrible. He only won the wc and he did nothing the rest of the year. And if you think he won the french super cup and ligue one, you’re wrong. PSG won those trophies , and Messi did nothing. And people may say that they both have the same g+a, but people forgot that Messi played in ligue one while Halland played in the premier league. I don’t think your goat deserves it.
@@holaquetal9346 16 goals and 16 assists is nothing ? The team is build around mbappe and messi was still the best with him . They lost LIgue 1 the previous season [20/21] to Lille....While Man city on the otherside before haaland came they won EPL for 2 years in a row
@@user-uk9zy6zs1v are you stupid? This is debate for the best player for 2023, not where was City before Haaland or where was PSG before Messi, that's a past.
I feel like it's going to be Messi because of his world cup performance. Some people might say that E.R or K.D.B deserve it because of their performance in the Champions League and while they may not be wrong, people have to remember that the world cup happens every four years and that it is the most important soccer tournament in the world. Due to this, I think it will play a significant role in who wins the Ballon D'or and since Messi had a much better performance than K.D.B and since E.R wasn't even in the tournament, it leads me to believe that Messi has the best chance of winning the Ballon D'or.
@@DancingMomochine what has he achieved apart of a few premier leagues by playing in a packed team full of quality. That yellow lamp spends most of his time in hospital than on the playing field. Overrated af.
Debruyne didn’t even play a quarter way through the UCL final and they still did it without him. They never really needed him. That’s why Messi is the best. He can assist, score, and dribble like a god when he actually tries. Debruyne gets my respect, but there is many times he couldn’t even pass the way Messi sees thing. But he definitely is number 2 as far as passers go in our modern day. But xavi and iniesta would probably embarrass him on the regular if he played with them in this modern age
MESSI: ALL COMPETITIONS WITH PSG: 41 Matches 21 goals 20 assists WC WITH ARGENTINA: 7 games 7 goals 3 assists *TOTAL: 48 MATCHES 28 goals and 23 assists 51 G/A 1,0625 G/A per game* HAALAND: ALL COMPETITIONS WITH CITY: *TOTAL: 53 Matches 52 Goals 9 assists 61 G/A 1,15 G/A per game* TROPHIES COMPARISON (for me the value is more or less like this): MESSI HAALAND: WC >= Premier + UCL LIGUE 1 = FA cup So they are matched with trophies. The think messi has in his favour, apart from key passes, dribblings, ocasions created, and tackels is that he was the most important player in Argentina and without him they could not have win the WC, and it feels like without haaland in the city team(if julian alvarez played instead), they would have won the ucl anyways( not scored in semifinal and ghoasted in the two finals). So it will be a difficult decision, if you choose who has been more decisive in most of the season then is for Haaland, but if you choose who is been better in the clutch moments then is for messi, who besides goals wins in all other estadistics and it is overall a better player(with does not necessarly mean that he deserves more the ballon d'or, also de Bruyne is a more complete player than Haaland, whose function is score).
you need some more ball knowledge to know that without haaland city would not score a single goal in the semis and in the final, there would be no space for the other players who did mscore if half of the opponents defense wasnt away marking haaland, you can even see that on rodris winnner
Good comment, but Messi has 62 G/A in total, you are not taking into account the friendly matches with Argentina that are the equivalent of the Nations League in Europe
Frenche ligue and French cup doesnt count compared. They can win with their eyes closwd 😂. its the French non-competetitive league, ranked 5th in the world. PL is the toughest and best league in the world. Haaland would have scored 60 goals in that league 😉
Surprisingly Messi. I was so happy to see someone else once again winning. Then i looked at their achievements this year and g/a. Messi's somwhow was slightly better
@@Mixed_Ethiopia_Countryball You just have to count the number of players who have won the world cup vs the number of people who have won the UCL. The opportunity to win the UCL is present every year while the opportunity to win the world cup only presents itself once every 4 years. Every player only have 4-5 chances to win the world cup in their lifetime and many things have to align perfectly for a player to win it. A top player like Messi only won it on his 4th time. His rival Ronaldo couldn't even get in a final. If you ask Haaland, he might say that the world cup is more difficult to win too because he's Norwegian.
If Messi wins it will be for the future of the game . With 8 balon dors , Perfectness !! There needs to be a new prophet for football , A living prophet , Someone untouchable , An icon . This will make future players better . It will make football better .

@@scabc7259 and if messi didnt score in the 108th minute, there wouldnt be a save to be maded by emi martinez so your point is dumb and wrong . Messi scored and assisted in all knockout rounds and scored a brace in the final . Haaland ghosted in both semis and finals of UCL and FA cup
Pep in the video is literally me right now. I love both of them, but only one can be the winner.... I would love for Messi to win his record 8th, but Haaland winning his first ever at 22 is a big deal too. Oh god, we shall see.
It's true, just that in all the big games, Haaland wasn't there, he didn't decided any big games. Yes, he scored many goals but when was most needed others did the job.
The first neutral comment since a long time, good job my friend!!! I cant achieve this level, i am a messi fan, but a haaland super fan, for me its haaland this year, but respect for a unique neutral comment, yeahhhhh!!!!!
I was watching the video with my six year old son. When he saw the trophies of Haaland he said " mom look at all those trophies" When he saw the world cup trophy he screamed " waaaooouuuhh mom that is the real trophy it's a world cup" The way the young man screamed kept me rolling. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It's not about most awards (although both won 3 Trophies), but personally stats and influence of the game and the team, MOTM etc. This season Messi was still better than any other player. So there is no debate here.
Messi played good the wc, but he did nothing for club this season 🤡. Anyways Ballon D'ors are almost all robbed since 2018 so it won't be surprising if Messi wins it. And also the best players this year were CLEARLY de Bruyne and Haaland. Cry now, Messi won't rob the Ballon d'or this year
