In a fight with weapons I do believe that Merle would win, Mercer has not used weapons seriously, and Merle from T1 showed that he knew how to use weapons, but in a hand to hand, Mercer would cut Merle in half (Bro, Mercer He's much taller than Merle, and he's like twice as wide)

Don't confuse the intelligence and character of the characters, Merle is a really smart character, because he was able to overcome almost a whole squad of the Governor alone, especially since he is one of those people who understood the meaning of survival in the apocalypse.

He litterally would stomp everyone there, dude can even do one arm push-up, if ever Merle fights Governor in fair fight, he will tear him apart, he is very skilled and very strong, and litterally never lost a 1v1 fight

I don't think Merle would have even fit in with the group, even if he is on another side now, he would still be a bastard, besides there would be a lot of problems with Glenn and Maggie, and if with Rick they were in danger of being exiled from Alexandria With Merle they would have been kicked out And the truth is I don't see Merle with the Saviors, much less with the Whisperers or the Commonwhealt, and it would seem very unbelievable to me that Merle had arrived and found the reapers.

Yea the only reason the governor was able to kill him so easily was because he was drunk and got caught off guard by the Walker plus he got jumped by the governors goons. Merle wipes the floor with the governor in a fair 1v1.

That's debatable, I don't want to sound like the typical person who justifies that a character doesn't have feats, but in my opinion Beta beats Mercer in physical strength Mercer is very strong, there is no doubt about that, but he has not demonstrated his strength in a good way, although Beta did not have a decent 1v1, he demonstrated his abilities to kill and survive, I think Mercer is among the 5 strongest, but I doubt that be the strongest
