Same age, same scenario. I have to thank him for leaving is this gem and many others. I learned a lot about life from their music (Friends, One Love. Big Mouth, Growing Up, etc...). Rest in Peace, Pleasure and Paradise. ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾
Never thought 🤔 as a 20 year old in '86, the day would come that I would look back and long 😢🎉 for those days in the 80's where we treated our women right and they treated us right as well! ~P.S.~ For all those who were there and know what I'm talking about ~"ONE LOVE"~
i seen Whodini at the Fresh Fest in Oakland California in August 1986 right after that Gang Fight in Long Beach a week earlier , Whodini's Background Dancer's had on Orange an White Syracuse Orangeman Nike Dunks on, Awesome
RIP Ecstasy 🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I’ll never forget you and Whodini I grew up listening to you guys and now I’m 53 and I’m still listening Thanks sooo much for all of your beautiful beautiful music you’ll never be forgotten GOD BLESS YOU ALL ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
What's weird is...after my divorce...all the songs that had solid advice, I just ignored. Yep, money can't buy you love or respect. I had my "one love", so I count myself lucky. However, women are weird...you better keep them happy, and entertained, otherwise you're "boring" and it's over. BE CAREFUL. Falling in love, is the most dangerous thing you could do.
Yes so true tell me i so agree with you 🦋🩷😊😊😘😘my teenage years song’s i so wish that i could go back to my teenage years but be able to bring my beautiful and so precious an so very respectful son Xavier with me he’s just my heart my everything my world 🌍 and he truly truly loves 💕 me with all his heart 🩷🩷🦋🦋😊😊😘😘🫶🏽💕💕🙏🙏
These groups always lose one member TLC lost Left eye, NWA lost Eazy E, Heavy D and the boys lost Trouble T Troy, Blaque lost Natina Reed, Brownstone lost Charmayne Maxwell, A Tribe Called Quest lost Phife Dawg, The Roots lost Malik B, Wu Tang Clan. O D B, Run Dmc Jam Master jay, The Beastie boys Adam Yauch, and The Fat Boys Darren Robinson
We got it, babe. Half the people commenting are just so sad and sorrowful but have no idea wtf is really going on. Also, I noticed in the vid Jahlil is wearing all red, other two have on black & white. We know who fw those colors.
Lauren Christianna Nah, you reading entirely TOO MUCH into things. Check out 2:37 and 3:11, look @ the colors Ecstasy and Jhalil are wearing. And if you wanna take it even further, let's not forget the color of the album-cover.
All of Whodini's albums were recorded and produced in London using the top production in the world, led by the legendary producer Larry Smith, known as the "Quincy Jones" of Rap. This track still sounds as funky and futuristic as it did in 1986. RIP Ecstasy and Larry!
The rap community always acknowledges LL with the first rap love song but this came out a year earlier so you gotta give these guys a mention. Whodini had hits galore and usually with a message that needed to be heard!
*When we were kids. "Our parents just* *don't understand this music"* *Now as parents. "Kids just don't* *understand this music"* *It has come full circle ⭕*
I don't think that would even help these kids. Maybe the secret is to have lived when hip hop was in its origin and have caught the vibe then. It'll never be the same. :(
Rap was always "vulgar," because it spoke on reality. Hip hop existed before the record labels started signing artists. You're just unaware of its history.
"To have lost Love was a hurting lesson, but to have had Love was a definite blessing. Now I know what the Beatles were thinking of when they said that money can't buy me Love. " RIP ECSTACY.
Probably underrated because they were very commercial. Not dissing cuz I loved Whodini growing up, but I think they get knocked by historians for that.
@@ChillydontCap this shows me you like Ruffles that disrespect women you don't like me in that show love to women and this group did so course you don't care nothing about this man's death you disrespecting his death by saying that
+BigDaddyRakim No doubt! I was just listening to this with the windows down on a nice weekend day as if it was new. It's still so good it's a addictive whenever I revisit it.
When Ecstacy reads the letter "Maybe one of these days you'll have to learn, that love is something that you gotta earn, and once you earn it, gotta know how to keep it, you got to want it as well as you need it". Classic. The video starts out with a New York Salute, Twin Towers in the atmosphere.
“To love someone is a atmosphere that you both still share when one’s not there!!!”❤️❤️ This is will always be my jam, I use to be five yrs old doing the dance. Still doing it in 2019
When I first saw this video, and when I saw the girlfriend who Grandmaster Dee broke up with....I was IN ONE LOVE with her!! For years I kept asking, Who's that girl?? Lawd have mercy! Cuz I truly wanted her! Lol But on a serious note.....we lost another icon in hip hop. Ecstacy R.I.P. God bless your family. And thank you for your contribution to great music of our generation.
Who.still bumping this 2024?? Class of 86 for me.. those were.good times.. basement parties for $.50...red tag levis on my backside driving the boys crazy lol
🙏🏾Prayers and condolences to the family of Mr. John Fletcher’s( Ecstasy ) from Whodini who passed away today 12/23/2020. May God console the hearts of his family at this difficult time.😔❤️❤️ I grew up loving their music. May his soul RIP❤️❤️
Damn...one of the greatest songs - hearing the lyrics now is valuable still. A lot of us grew up with music w.a message. We were lucky. This STILL bangs too. The video is wild too - when he ran into his girl while on the street with another girl???!?!?
neehiii Yes this was back when videos actually went with the song........And music made you feel happy & taught you a little something at the same damn time! Love is something that you have to earn, and once you earn it, got to know how to keep it, you got to want it as well as you need it..........So true & So Classic💃🎤 It Still Rocks In May 2017!
@@ifergotti7073 Fa'real FACT!!!! lol "Whodini" was the ish then & still today. A party ain't a party without at least "Freaks Come Out At Night" being played, lol
ONE OF A KIND!! Legendary MC John Fletcher aka "Ecstasy".... Talk about commanding the stage?? He was one of a kind!! LIVE IN ETERNAL SPIRIT ANGEL!! ✊✊💯
This beat is still dope as shit... think about this being released in 1985-86 and it wasn’t any other tracks that sounded like this. This beat still dope.
OMG! I remember Whodini came up to my HS which was in Brooklyn. All of the girls were screaming for them, I did not say anything. They were being chased by their fans. And Drew stopped and ask me my name, he said that I was cute. My friends just stood there in shock. All I said was that he is very cute. This all happened in the 80s when they were at the top of all the charts. It was a pleasure knowing them then. Boy, I love the 80s..
Love is something that You gotta earn. And once You earn it.Got to know how to keep it.You've got to want it as well as You need it.Man That message has got to be one of the realest thing's in life.
Always will be a classic I been a whodini fan since 9 years old and now here I am 45 and being a young man back in the 80s with so much positive messages in music was a gift... Rest well J "Ecstacy" Fletcher!!
@@dawnjones977 wooow, u are so loyal sir, would you please send me some of your favorite artists back in your youth days... I'm from south Africa.. I grew up listening to USA music since the early 90s till now...
The Beauty of old school music is...even though the man dies, the music and memories are eternal. JUST PUSH PLAY!! R.I.P. ECSTASY...thank you and your guys for the soundtrack of my childhood!
I remember listening to this at ten years old, and just thought the track was dope at the time, but now that I'm much older and have a better grasp on the experiences of life, these lyrics are so hard hitting. Wow! RIP Ecstacy..🙏🏾
Ricardo Torres R.I.P. to John “Ecstasy” Fletcher another hip hop legend has fallen my father had the pleasure of meeting him along with Jalil Hutchins and Drew “Grandmaster Dee” back in the Disco Fever in the Bronx NY man 2020 has been a terrible year for people falling down to this madness he will greatly be missed thank you for all of your hard work and dedication to the rap game.
I miss my 2 brother's too Just think of the way you have Love your father, and he is always there with you...!!!!!! A friend once said that no body really dies. Eat a peach!!!!!!The Allma Brother's
The whole atmosphere of this song is just crazy. The sound is so wavy yet soothing. I like how it has that hip-hop groove but yet it sounded graceful. Really took me back to my childhood in the late 80's. I know we can't get those old days back, but it's nice to hear this again every now and then, to remind myself of what was.
I love this track. It'll always be part of my life. As a child living in Berlin Germany 🇩🇪 ('85-'87) my parents owned the Vynal album I used to play the album. That group had style and example in hip hop and art. Being a child I used to look at the artist from the getto, like being educated and examples towards others. Then one day we moved to the getto to experience getto life in art and living and excepting my culture was real. I'm glad I lived in the getto.
vonzzil s its not about that. its really about what the industry wants to push. if someone came out today with a song like this and the industry pushed it, it would have millions of views
I am in love with the look of the 80s. Even the loft...I was born in 83 so so I only can remember so much but I wish I had experienced the 80s as a teen & the 90s in my 20s
Pure rap royalty, Whodini was magical, all of their releases just had all the elements of true creativity and heartfelt sincerity, truth and honest like Friends, Freaks Come Out, Big Mouth. I didn't remember Fletcher passed until I thought about this song on Thanksgiving Eve. Much Love to Grandmaster & Jalil for making such iconic memorable songs hip hop with depth and longevity. MUCHLOVE
Rest Easy Ecstasy...ONE LOVE! 💖💖💖 _the only man who could wear white leather shorts, cowboy boots, no shirt, leather bolero, matching hat and DRIVE WOMEN CRAAAAAAAY_ !! 💖💖💖
