Indonesia's armed forces, comprising the Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and Army, boast approximately 400,000 active-duty soldiers and a defense budget expected to rise to $9.7 billion by 2028. Indonesia's military modernization efforts focus on enhancing air and naval capabilities in response to regional maritime challenges. Thailand has a competent military but faces significant political instability and funding limitations. I mean Indonesia is actually sit on the Pacific ring of fire so you could encounter every disaster you can imagine like being bitten by Komodo dragon and die slowly or became a dust because of volcanic explosion sound.. No no no, I'm serious, 1883 AD of Krakatoa is the loudest sound ever recorded in continuous human civilization, it was 310db! Standing directly in front of jet engine is 120db, so 310 is basically gonna destroy you to the dust, Tambora 1815 AD The year without summer, Shamalas 1256-1257 AD, Krakatoa 540 AD, Krakatoa 416 AD, Batur, Tengger and other.. Honourable mention is the Toba Supervolcano eruption 74000 years ago it was so recent in geological timeline and it was the biggest eruption from the last 2 million year Toba super volcano eruption have broke the VEI measurements, it was ejected about 13,200 km³ tephra in just 2-3 days, it was the equivalent of 1 million Mt. Saint Helen biggest eruption standing to each other erupting at the same time for 2 whole year.. On top of that, Indonesia have about 257 submarine volcano as well that still haven't been counted all, about volcano 149 active and 27 erupted every 5 to 10 years, about 17 is still erupting today and 9 is always in the news for the past 7 years every week.. Earthquake also happens regularly here every 2 to 1 hour or sometimes more, so that would be 11 to 27 earthquake every day, sometimes it destroy buildings, and sometimes it triggered tsunami, we just became numb to it lol, Aceh earthquake is the largest earthquake ever happened in the past 100 years and lots more similar magnitude also have happened here in Indonesia, we just became so numb to it.. Holy shit, as I write this comment earthquake happened here in Banda sea.. f*cking hell man holy sh*t, it was a bit intense than usual lol..

Indonesia Will always be Unseen ! but they Will be everywhere at anytime and anywhere as possible. They Will keep Tight not alliaence and not intervien any country. Instead they Will try to help even both or any power if there is a conflict. Indonesia just want to be stable and not intervien in their yurisdiction by any power. The Government have done helping in military and politics in many case even their citizen doesnt know it. Strength of military does not only based on big budget and modern weapons, ships and jets. AFP continously having training with military forces of the USA and other first world countries, their continous battle with communist rebels and other separatist groups ensures their capability and readiness in case of a foreign agression.

all ASEAN countries have the capability to manufacture small arms and munitions ASEAN despite its difference, have always respect each other's domestic issues and not overstep the balance game. They will band together to prevent possible conflict and being sucked in the vacuum of bigger players. The people of ASEAN have suffered a lot for the past few generations. Philippines need to develop more their local private army factories. And try to incentivize companies to make a project like developing warpship or aircraft manufacture. We cannot just purchase weapon from outside. Some stuff cannot be replaced or repaired like that without buying a new one from that country. Mabuhay!

San Miguel is even set to build an airport, express ways, train lines etc. government can make a really good deal with them, something that's hard to resist. The issue with the Philippines are mainly the lack of STEM talents. It has one of the largest growing populations, but majority of its economy still comes from overseas remittance from oversea Philippinos. It's model of economic growth and education have to change to attract STEM talents to work in the country otherwise it will still remain as it is and dependent on mainly the US for arms.

In terms of warfare experience: Indonesia fought the Netherlands and the UK, and annexed Timor and Papua. It also had conflicts with Singapore and Malaysia. Vietnam fought France, USA, China, and Cambodia. The Philippines fought Spain, USA, and Japan.

Military power here includes many factors. Each country has its own strengths and weaknesses. To be able to rank accurately, each small factor must be evaluated such as: -The army equipped with the most modern weapons, Singapore is 1st place, Indonesia 2nd place, Vietnam and Thailand 3rd place. If only counting the number of weapons (tanks, warships, fighter aircraft, missile systems), Indonesia ranks 1st, Vietnam ranks 2nd. Manpower, military supplies, military logistics and combat experience, Vietnam is 1st place, 2nd place is Indo, 3rd place is Thailand. Final conclusion, 1st place is Indonesia, 2nd place is Vietnam, 3rd place is Thailand and Singapore

The analyst used in the video is kind of outdate. Nowaday, modern army is surely important. However, war is fought by people but win by logistic. The domestic weapon manuafacture is infact the most crucial one. What is the capabilities, the scale and the advance of each country domestic defense industry will play the role for their military power in the next 20 year. In my opinion, Indonesia and Vietnam are doing a very good job at this domain. Both country also have a smart strategy of military diplomatic. They are actually the true power house in the reagion.

In consideration of number of tanks or fighters per land area, Singapore is top.. did you know Singapore has more Main Battle Tanks than the Indonesia? Despite it's smaller than Jarkarta even. Indonesia does have a bigger force, but due to the massive country, the forces have to be spread out across the it's island.

I'd say Vietnam is the strongest in the ASEAN community, it can muster up to 5 million reservists, and it does have the capability to do so, as the military is a part of the Vietnamese culture (naturally promoted among the youngsters) and the symbol of the fierce fight for Independence. For home defense, they already have 2000 years of experience in guerilla warfare tactics. And Vietnam is probably the only country that could call out its allies for support, even from Europe. At the same time, Indonesia has a mighty army, and 3rd would be Thailand. I wouldn't consider Singapore strong enough to defend it's territories during an invasion, a similar issue with Taiwan, if China ever tries to. Much love from Germany! Due to the lack of strategic depth, the military defence strategy of smaller states would be to either: have a preemptive blitz of the enemy and then sue for peace, or to force a pyrrhic victory for the enemy to cause them to reconsider their actions. Regardless, as long as war and political conflict is avoided, it's still a workable strategy.

Vietnam memang di kenal dengan perang gerilya Amerika dulu, tanpa di sadari di kawasan asean Indonesia paling berpengaruh. sebagai contoh 1. perang thailand, saat thailand kehabisan amunisi Indonesia dengan senang hati memberi senjata lengkap beserta amunisi nya. sebagian orang thailand masih mengingat kejadian ini dan merasa berhutang dengan indonesia 2. perang saudara Myanmar, Indonesia beberapa kali membantu mendamaikan wilayah ini 3. tentara spesial Kamboja, mereka dilatih tentara spesial indonesia hingga saat ini, bahkan semua tentara Kamboja bisa berbahasa Indonesia. 4. saat china intervensi wilayah asean baru baru ini hanya Indonesia yang berani pasang badan di depan lebih dulu, bisa di bayangkan china melewat banyak negara asean hingga sampai wilayah Indonesia dan semuanya diam. dan benar indonesia yang berani menantang cina. dan cina pun tidak berani menantang Indonesia karena negara ini Mitra dagang terbesar cina 5. indonesia yang sudah berhasil memproduksi kapal perang, pesawat dan beberapa jenis senjata sendiri juga penyuplai ke beberapa negara asean, terutama filiphina yang sering berbelanja produk militer buatan Indonesia

Wow a lot of money is wasted on importing weapons. BTW FYI, since 2009 Indonesia has been researching, building and manufacturing almost 50% combat equipment itself. From light rifles to heavy caliber machine guns. Fom light combat vehicles to medium tanks. From patrol boats, fast missile ships, corvette class ship, frigate class ships are underway. From small artillery rockets with a range of 30 km, small ballistic rockets with a range of 150 km, to medium ballistic rockets with a range of 500 km with a 300 kg warhead which is still in development. All produced domestically, made in Indonesia. And there are still many military projects that we can produce ourselves. Hohohoho

When you really think about it, Singapore geography and size is not ideal for defense even though they have the capability and was strong in ASEAN nations. Defending must count the logistics, timeframe of war, population that could be reservist. Like how US had high power than Iraq, Vietnam and Afghanistan but couldn't win because of the cost. When it comes to defending, Philippines and Indonesia would be ideal. Philippines with its geographic and archipelagic state. You need a large navy and Airforce to invade that and also need a large army which could be station in their occupied territory if you can. One must say that all those superpowers in the past era had occupied Philippines when its people is not united and under one banner yet they still failed to permanently subdue that country, from Spain to America and Japan. All of those countries was a bigshot and in their peak at that time versus a country which coud even hardly get a gun and cannon. Not counting its alliance with USA, I say China need three times of their arm forces to fully occupy Philippines

Singapore modernisation is readily agreed by everyone. She relies on import of armament but did not rely on one source only. She only can defend even though most armament are designed for attacks...until allies lend a hand. Indonesia though has a sizeable navy, one must be reminded of her extensive coastal line and land defense line. Probably reaching a place is already difficult. Nevertheless logistics would prove to be challenging. She gets her fair share of natural disasters thus weaking the military. Vietnam did not just simply have a sizeable Army. A closer look at birthrate, Vietnam has one of the world youngest and strongest 20-30yrs old generation. Vietnam definitely would remain strong for the next 20years due to her young population asset. She remains weak with her navy assets for the time being. Outdated assets means severe casualties expected during war. Thailand experience regular hotness and coldness from season changes. Forest Fire destroying crops and villages. This sequence of disasters undermine Thailand beside political instability. As for the aircraft carrier....not much use or not put into proper usage. Logistics itself really challenging here. The insufficient infrastructure further hurt Thailand when the military begin mobilising. Nevertheless, Thailand did not give up modernising, and has done a good job here to their best.

Sure Vietnam had a conflict with the US and arguably won that war but that was decades ago and so their is no current fighting experience now and you have to remember history, America was fighting a war that was unpopular back home so they didn't have all of the backing it needed. In a way US was tied one handed and you look at the 50 thousand American deaths vs 300,000 plus for the North Vietnamese and VC at that rate? It was unsustainable for the North. Yes it could be said it was unsustainable for both sides. And if you look at todays technology with night vision and infrared? So to make a long answer short lol I don't think the Vietnamese army will stand a chance with today's technologies against a modern country. And yes sure I respect thier accomplishments but its not Vietnam today unless they thoroughly modernize so I have to give it to the Singaporeans. Actually as has been in the pass history of Indonesia, when speaking of invaders, its not only the army that is defending the country but all the people of the nation. So if the population of Indonesia is about 275 mio. Let say 30% of wich are of fighting age, thats about 82 mio. So if 1 or 10 mio are death in the cause of defending the country, 70 mio will swamp in like bees. Hehe just kidding.
