To me naked bikes hit the sweet spot: torque lower in the revs, less back pain and cheaper insurance and all the fun of sport bikes.My duke 690 is basically a tractor a low rpm and you can very easily exceed the speed limit without realising it. @Xoulrath_
@Xoulrath_ Год назад
You don't even need a 600 for the street if the rationale is that most people can't get peak performance out of the liter bike. Most people won't get it out of the 600 either. Hell, most riders couldn't push a Ninja 250 to 100% on the street.
@ThermicLight
@ThermicLight Год назад
There is a more usual difference between those who ride a 600cc and 1000cc. In that the former are less inclined to make lame justifications as if the power is necessary. Rather they already know it's overkill. People on 1000cc however more typically have a certain ego about why it's required. As if the extra torque and power is necessary. All in all I don't judge what someone rides but when they start capping is when it starts getting ridiculous. Be so much easier if people were just honest about why they buy it and it doesn't have to be for practical reasons.

Not gonna lie here in Europe, specially Spain, you can get a liter bike for the same price of a 600cc in second hand market. It is sad but r6 are like 13-15k while fireblades or gixxers are 10k

In my experience, I’ve had way more fun riding my 2016 FZ-07 than I do my 2014 R1 simply because I could actually push that bike to its limits and it’s easy to throw over in the curves. I’ll never be able to do that with my R1. When it comes to speeding, I will say that I’ve had far more close calls riding the speed limit than when I speed. Your average cager is more likely to kill you on the streets than you are yourself speeding on the streets. I’ve had friends that have died speeding, but I’ve actually known more to die doing the speed limit due to people texting and driving, not checking blind spots, or just pulling out in front of them because “I couldn’t see them”.

I live in Texas, north Texas. A 600 would be a joke. Speed limit is 85, can get away with 100 easy. Ringing out a 600 in 10k+ rpms, or cruising a liter bike at 6k rpms. It's a longevity of engine life here. I also ride a Grom around town. Dare the cars to hit me. Lol.

THIS IS THE BEST AND MOST ACCURATE COMMENT ON THIS THREAT!!! that’s the best, experience u can ever have on a bike. The most fun you’ll ever have. It’s also the most enlightening experience u can have. 1 or 2 track days will lower your chances of killing yourself on the street. For 1, u learn about how to push the bike, how far u actually can push the bike, more about what “fast” really feels like, what your actual skill level is and what it feels like to feel confident and comfortable pushing it without that fear of the unknown hazard around the corner. That fear being gone makes u learn 10x faster. U learn more in your first 2 track days than u learn your first 2 YEARS on the street. The second thing it does is change your whole thought process. A track day is a life changer. I think it’s a life saver actually because once u experience all the thrill of pushing the bike and yourself harder than u ever have on the street and doing it without the risk of hitting a tree or hydrant or guardrail or CAR, it both makes u faster on the street without even having to push while making u no longer feel the need to push on the street. It just makes riding hard on the street less appealing. U no longer have that voice in your head saying “I wanna see how fast I can take this curve”. That whole though process is just gone because the track has already shown u how fast u can take that curve. EVERY rider should do at least 1 or 2 track days their first or second year of owning a bike. Track days are the best advice any rider could ever give a new rider.

@hillbillyjustice8213 18 дней назад
This is 100% true. A 250-300, especially doing track days, will teach you things u just never learn on a 600-1k. There’s a guy who goes to little talladega all the time on a 250 and he passes 600’s and 1k’s constantly. They catch him on the straights at first but after a couple laps, he builds a lead big enough that the straight isn’t long enough for them to catch him. He just keeps pulling away from em. Fact is, u learn effective cornering faster and more thoroughly on a 250 because u don’t have all that power to make up for sub par breaking, entry speed, line selection, throttle management and exit drive/timing. U can also be more relaxed and learn more about feel and bar feedback. U have a better understanding of what the bike and the tires are telling you in a corner. The better u are with the 250 with those things, the better that knowledge transfers to bigger bikes. Ppl who learned by doing track days on a 250, are safer and faster on any bike they decide to hop on. I’d put that guy on a 600 against anyone on a 1k besides pro racers.

The R1 weighs 9kg/19lbs more than the R6… you don’t notice the weight. I ride a s1000rr, I notice no difference compared to my R6. S1000rr has the power there if you want it, but riding feels the same. He is right though… you’ll never use it to its full ability unless you know what you are doing. BMW was a dream bike for me, so idc. Also putting in rain mode makes it extremely easy to transition.

Sometimes I think that my 660cc bike is too much for regular street riding. Like, I can do 220km/h? That’s cool but I’m riding at 60km/h 70% of the time and maybe 80km/h on country roads. Too many of my friends say “Once you’ve gone to a litre bike you’ll never look back” and that may be true for some, but I really don’t mind the mid to low cc bikes I’ve been riding. I fill up my fuel tank once a week, put 200 or so kms on the odo in that week and have a blast the whole time
