I posted this before on the first video, but having Victoria II as the ruler of the United Kingdom would have changed the world. Assuming Victoria II still married Frederick III, the emperor of Germany, as this video assumes, their first born, Wilhelm II, would have ruled both the United Kingdom and the German Empire under his personal union. (Most likely, the two nations would not have joined but stayed under the personal union.) This most likely means there is no WW1 since two of the strongest powers in Europe would have essentially been allies. If there is no WW1, most likely no WW2 because Germany would not have become destitute and pissed off from losing WW1. If there is no WW1, there is no Russian revolution. No Russian revolution, there is no communism. If the Europeans are not busy fighting, the colonialism might have continued, and we might still be living in a legally apartheid world. The US (without the devestated Europe) may not be the super power it is now. China, without the Europeans killing themselves and no communist influences from Russia, may still be a nation ruled by the Nationalist Party, the folks who fled to Taiwan. Empire of Japan would still be the dicks trying to take over East Asia. Korea would only exist as the western half of Japan. THE WORLD WOULD BE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT with Friederike, by the Grace of God, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and Germany and of her other realms and territories Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith. For those of you arguing that the WW1 would have still happened because the Archduke of Autro-Hungarian empire may have still been assassinated, which triggered Austria to declare war on Serbia, who was backed by Russia. Austria, backed by Germany, would have dragged Germany into the war. Assuming, the United Kingdom, the other super power at the time, would not have joined the war since they would not fight against the Germans, France may not be too eager to join the war on the side of the Russians. Basically, this would have been a regional war between the Autria and Germany vs Russia. On the Eastern Asia, Japanese hegemony may have been firmly established without them getting their asses kicked during WW2.

These 'what if' scenarios are so pointless. Had Queen Victoria's eldest child succeeded as Victoria II, she'd have married some unimportant younger son from a European family, and then lived in the UK, raising her children as English. Hence there would not have been a Kaiser Wilhelm II or any of his subsequent German descendants.

‚Almost‘ seems rather far fetched... such a substantial change would surely change the behavior of the royals enough to change even who marries who. That wouldn’t even fall under the category of butterfly effect, that’s more of a direct predictable effect IMHO

Actually, the fact that the crown would have gone to Kaiser Wilhelm II may have had incredible implications, perhaps even preventing, or at least limiting, the extent of the First World War. Therefore, preventing the fall of the German Empire, which in turn, may have even possibly prevented World War II and the evils of Nazi Germany.

Interesting that you focussed on a German homeopath being the queen because of this rule and not that Kaiser Bill would have been King of England, a fact that would invariably change virtually all of 20th century history.

The whole premise of this is invalid. The first change that having an absolute primogeniture rule in place during the 19th century would have been a change in who Princess Victoria would have married. In our world she was fifth in line to the throne, so marrying her to the Crown Prince of Prussia was a useful diplomatic move with minor repercussions. However if she was the heir to the UK throne, marrying her to Frederick would have created a personal union, something not done lightly. Given the UK's foreign policy in the 1850s, I doubt that they would have been willing to drop their policy of splendid isolation (while occasionally interfering to keep Europe divided) to tie themselves to a small country (Prussia) which was about to challenge two purportedly stronger countries (Austria & France) in a move to unite Germany under their control. Therefore without the marriage, all of their descendants, including the homeopath, would not exist. While this may be a blow to people seeking homeopathic treatment in Germany, one can only wonder if the union of Crown Prince Frederick & some other princess might have produced a German Emperor who was abler than the real world Wilhelm II. Perhaps he could have better handled the German government and the diplomatic situation to avoid World War I. Of course, while that may appear to be a good outcome, perhaps it would lead to a different World War erupting from some other source that leads to an even bleaker world than our current world.

Meanwhile me up here in Scotland: This is why Americans still call her the “Queen of England” despite the fact that her title is the Queen of the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc etc. The only reason there’s even a “Queen of England” is because King James of Scotland took over the English thrown and united the kingdoms of Scotland and England, thus the United Kingdom was born.

At 2:49 you say that Sophia of Hanover became heiress to the English Crown because she was the closest Protestant descendant of James I of England/James VI of Scotland, but you show a picture of James II/ James VII. BTW, she almost became Queen Sophia of England (by this time the United Kingdom of Great Britain), but she died a few months before Queen Anne and her son became George I.

If you go even further back and do absolute primogeniture from Sophia of Hanover then you get the descendants of George III older sister Augusta. The current person now would be Johann Friedrich Alexander Herman Wilhelm Josias Prinz zu Wied (b.1960) After Augusta it would have passed through her daughter Augusta to her son William I of Wurttemberg then his daughter Marie then her sister Katharina then to her son William II of Wurttemberg then to his daughter Pauline then through her son Hermann to his son Frederich then to his son Johann.
