I've got an ES-335 and a few LP's. I've also got an SG. I love them all for various reasons, and regardless of what many folks may say, each sounds different and has its own distinct voice.
Back in 1964 I was just starting to learn guitar and my mom saw a cherry 335 with a bigsby in a store window, picked me up after school to go see it and bought it the next day. At 60yrs old that beauty can handle surf, rock, or jazz, anything you throw at it, it will chew up and spit out right back at you and smile at you when it's done! Fine peace of work!!!!
I think the 335 is the best guitar Gibson ever made, and this is coming from a LP guy. For me it’s the access to higher frets, balance and ergonomics, and most import clarity of the neck position. I find the 335, like the SG, is a lot easier to tame the bottom end of the neck position relative to, say, my favorite guitar, the LP. The only thing I’ll say though, is if you’re going to make a head to head using a 335 59 reissue, the representative of the LP I’d choose would be an R9. I’m splitting hairs here, because these standards are phenomenal and you picked the 60s that has the BB 61s, which are one of my favorites Gibson pups. Just think a USA standard vs a USA 335, or a Gibson C R9 vs a 335 59 RI would be my natural choices for comparison.
They’re wonderful guitars. Mine was upgraded with Sheptones. I bought a 65 ES330 in 79. Had it until the early 2000s. Fed back but you could just position yourself on stage so it would be minimal. The 335 is definitely THE best all around guitar in my books. Got a ML LP and 72 Tele which are great in their own right but the 335 is a good generalist tool.
Yes I desperately need a ES3355 !!! BUT with a C Slim Taper Neck Shape Profile with satin finish!! PLEASE !! we need a entry level Gibson ES335 like the les Paul modern lite and studio version PLEASE !! let Gibson know now !! please and thank you
I love the 335 among other variations of the model however and in my opinion, the Telecaster would be my guitar of choice if I could only have one guitar.
You forgot the most important point. Please re-do the video and add point #8: There's no way your wife will tell you "but it looks exactly like all your other guitars" 😊
I traded three guitars for a 335 in 2021. I took it to my luthier for slight adjustment to the action and to make sure the intonation was just right. It plays like silk and the tone is incredible. While I generally play jazz and blues with it, it is versatile enough to play any genre. Love it! 😎
Can we get a studio version? Some of us can live without the high gloss finish and binding and enjoy the sound of 490/498T pick-ups. A 335 Studio with a satin Smokehouse Burst finish would be the perfect partner to a Les Paul Modern Studio.
I have both the ES 335 and the Standard 60s LP.......to my ears, played clean, they sound very similar. The 335 may be a hair more articulate. But the weight difference is huge......the 335 is so much more comfortable to play for a longer period of time.
Doyle Bramhall switched from his Strat to the 335 Style a while ago. I think he alternates between the Heritage version, the Gibson version and even sometimes the Eastman version.
I got an Epiphone Dot on my Birthday a few weeks ago, I have high end Les Paul and Hollowbody and Acoustic, the 335 really does fit in in a unique way. Sort of more Les Paul than a Les Paul in the mid position. Great design.
I bought my 2001 Epiphone Dot Cherry when it was brand new, still have it. I eventually got tired of the pickups, currently working on double P-rails and a bunch of Freeway switches for maximum pickup options. I do love the feel and look, still, but those stock pickups had brass covers, and I really didn't dig that.
I have played ES 330 an old one for years ... 30 years ago I bought a BB. Lucille ... Thought it was a good replacement for the ES330 ... but hell no, the ES 330 in much more versatile ... and can cover a lot more and different genres ... in the '70. I played an old SG ... I loved it and simply wore it out .... for the Rock'n roll stuff in those days ... and therefore I sold it years later... 25 years ago I acquired something very different a Gibson ES5 .... it is so special and very different from all the other beasts... It can do what it can .. with beauty... an even make a sound of an acoustic so well... I never liked the Les Pauls .... the sound is too firm and without the airy touch.... the others have, and what I like .... from 'around '90, I switched to Stratocasters - they are MUCH more comfy when you stand up for 3 hours and sing and play .... and it covers the genres I play the most .... and now I have switched to telecasters ... too.... I think my Lucille covers what it was made for very good.... But it never comes close to the Strats.... Well - just some considerations from someone who's played guitar since beginning of the '60.
Hello Everyone! I have two 335 Gibson's, one is 1969 and my other one is a 1994 Flame top and back. They are nice guitars, however, my strumming arm isn't comfortable sitting up that high, and that bums me out because I really enjoy the tone of them both. I have quite a few Gibson's, as they are my favorite Guitar on the planet. Just to give you an Idea I have five custom shop R9s but my go-to has always been The SG. I actually honestly can say I love SGs, they are so light and comfortable and sound so so good. The best part of the SGs is depending on the era they were made they all have their own personality as far as tone/sound. I started playing in 1966 and it has been my only true love. Peace! and keep rocking!
What's the difference between this and the "Inspired by Gibson" version. The only thing I see from researching the two are the inlays and different finish options?
Awesome guitar. I am saving up and hope to land one early next year. I have an LP and love it. But can’t wait to get a 335. You are so right about how comfortable they are. Thanks.
To me, and through my audio system, the ES sounded brighter than the LP. Which I thought would be the other way around. I'm definitely interested in one. They look and sound fantastic. I've been wanting something brighter than my LP but not a fender. I think i found it.
I currently have four Gibson guitars and one of them is that exact same ES-335 guitar. I love my ES-335 guitar and it is extremely versatile. The other Gibsons I own are SG Standard, Les Paul Standard 50s, and Les Paul Classic. I love them all.
I have a Gibson ES-345 in 60s Cherry. I love mine and it’s so versatile. I love the feedback at times it’s a great character of the ES series. I dig the feedback it’s like having unwaxed pickups. If I had any complaints on my ES?? There is none.
@@dimitrioskarastamatis4919 show documents saying that.. Epiphone and Gibson are the real deal's heritage is a copy and yes I know there ex Gibson employees
