+Jake TheGardenSnake holy crap I never would of thought you would of replied! lol :-) I'm building my xr650r in Supermoto trim right now. sumos just look fun as hell.....I mean least you make them look fun haha. wish I could ride with you guys in Texas one day!
I have a 2007 gxsr 750 and I cant say enough about that bike. I'm thinking of trading it in for a 2017 zx10r, what do you think? if you don't mind me asking
also had a 08 750 - those blue rims were fire. Ended up getting a random deal on a 08 cbr 1k which couldn't be passed up. If the gsx-r is a 9/10 the cbr is a 10... best bike I've ridden. Had an Aprilia Tuono v4r before that... both the gsx-r and cbr are considerably better bikes in terms of...well, everything... especially the cbr... feels like the 750 with a built engine and a bit smoother everywhere. That being said, the 750 is a wonderful machine... done quite a few track days on both.
good for you man, I went from a Honda VFR 800 and did alot of research and ended up pulling the trigger on a 14 GSXR 750. That bike is fucking amazing pulls hard, light, nimble and screams on the top end. So glad I didnt listen to the crap talkers trying to down Suzuki. I love Honda but the Suzuki GSXR 750 is amazing.
I have VFR800 right now, but trying to find something to have fun on track also. Seems like gsxr750 is a good choice. What about the sitting position comparing these two bikes? How terrible is it on a gixer comparing it to VFR?
You are so on the button re the power to weight on the 750 GSX-R, last year I changed from a 2013 CBR600RR (Repsol model), I enjoyed the CBR, especially its handling and lightness but compared to its predecessor (an R1) it was a wee bit gutless. so when I went to get a new bike for 2015, I tested the Daytona 675R, VFR800, Kawasaki 636 Ninja, none of which really grabbed me and as the 2015 CBR600 was totally unchanged from my 2013 model, it too was ruled out , then I called into a Suzuki showroom and loved the look of the GSX-R750 in MotoGp replica colours so got a test ride but was sold within minutes of taking off on it, it's lighter than the CBR600RR and handles better, it's also almost 50% more powerful and due to Suzukis annual winter price reduction was almost £1,000 less and to top it came with every Yoshimura extra free including the R11 carbon fibre end can. it's my 33rd bike, which ranged from RD 200s , L/C 35Os and an RD500V4, an 1100 Katana, a GPz750R, YZF750R, GSX-R 750T(96 model) 954 Blade and even an RC45 Honda 750, but not one of those fine machines compared to the new gixer for excitement, handling and reliability and its fuel consumption is 15 to 18 mpg better than my CBR600 which for a machine 50% more powerful is amazing.
i ride a 05 gsxr 750 and I love it! to Me it's the best of both worlds cuz it will smash any 600 and won't get dogged by a 1000 has the same weight as a 600, not to mention it's agile and very comfortable to ride. I put a level one racing exhaust on it and sounds great enjoy the bike and be safe out there 👍
I recently bought a 94 model Suzuki gsxr750 bored out to 810 with mild cam and Akrapovic pipe . After selling my Triumph 1200, I wasn't prepared for the sheer acceleration and handling of the Suzuki. Great fun and who needs bigger. I've owned around 30 bikes, used to race Kwakas and Harry Honda's. Have fun, and stay safe.
100lbs difference is a lot of weight loss. In the end as long you're happy that's all that matters. Your money, your choice. You're actually one of the few that doesn't buy base of popularity of seeing others on YT. :)
+CLUTCH1st VLOGS yes exactly! I bought my n1k when I was into touring which it is PERFECT for but I don't buy an r6 bc every "motovlogger" has one just like I don't buy a variant bc the wind drag is so awful. People should learn that just because something is popular doesn't always mean it's what's good for you... kinda why I don't have an iphone lmao ;)
Hope you're loving the new bike! I bet it's feeling totally different than the Ninja for sure. Curb weight on my 2012 Kawasaki Z1000 Naked is 481 lbs. and 136 hp @ 9,600 rpm, I took off factory slip on's replaced with Vance and Hines Urban Brawlers to shed even a few more pounds. I don't think I'll get rid of my liter bike anytime soon but I get why people love 600cc and other smaller cc type bikes...
I started off on a 750. Old '89 Katana. Loved it, and when I got another, I went with the Kawi zx7r, twice in fact. I really do love the power and feel of a 750. Picking the bike you enjoy the most, is always what you should do. I picked up my old Z1000 because it's what I wanted, and in getting my new Z, same exact thing. I love the bike, and I really could care less of others opinions on it. I pay the bill and insurance for it, not them lol New bikes looks good man!
Went from a 14 gsxr 750 to a fz09 and I've never had more fun. My favorite bike hands down, super comfy and torque where you can legally use it. Most fun under 100mph.
So the new(er) Ninja 1000's are rated at a little over 140hp with a little less than 500lb. of weight. They're super awesome for touring, and very sporty compared to the 2013 and earlier years, but the GSXR is definitely more of a race bike. Glad you're enjoying the GSXR! I've been going back and forth between a Ninja 1000 and a GSXR 750 myself; I have a Ninja 650 right now and I'm ready for an upgrade (and I swear I bought the 650 before I watched your videos, lol).
Eric Rasmussen haha nothing wrong with that! I loved the ninja1000 but I have no regrets with the 750 as it allows me to push myself further and my wheelies improved a tonnn! 👍🏻
Eric Rasmussen I went from a ninja 650r to a triumph speed triple. couldn't be happier with the triumph. look into one is you're interested in a ninja 1000.
I totally get the reduction in cc, ill probably drop down from a litre bike myself next time for some light weight fun as litre bikes are quite serious bikes to ride on the public roads. whereas you can ride the ass of smaller bikes much easier
I’ve a Gixxer 750. My Father had a Slingshot back in ‘88 which put me in line for a 750. Like you I’ve had most makes including Ducati (ugh...never again). This bike is almost perfect. Twisties, straighline, commuting, having lots of fun. All good.
I bought the same bike brother! added the yoshi R11 pipe (very unique sound, didn't like it at first but it grew on me) + fender eliminator, and replaced the passenger seat with a carbon fibre piece to match the surrounding. The ONLY downside to this bike that I noticed is the brakes. I take mine to the track a lot, and after about the 5th lap, the brake fade is pretty bad. Replaced the Nissin master cylinder and lines with Brembo master + braided lines (calipers are the same as they use on 1000cc so no need to change them) and I'm setting quicker lap times than most litre bikes now. Fantastic bike though.
I can say I went the opposite direction. I had a 2006 GSXR750 and I dumped that for a 2014 ZX10r .. I am so impressed with it it's like night and day. Very light, very comfortable riding position, sized like a much smaller bike and ridiculously fast. Very fun and handles like a dream. Cranked over in a corner I have never been uncomfortable or felt uneasy and 'on demand power' of that liter engine is hands down much more accommodating to traffic and getting past the putzes. I hope you enjoy the Gixxer, but I highly recommend a pipe and power commander to tune it properly in order to get the low end and midrange you will need to round out the power delivery. Sure you can slap a pipe on it, but if you cannot tune the ratios properly you will miss out on some of the hidden power that engine can make .. unless you crack the ECU to have a new map installed. I wasn''t too happy with mine because of the "buzzy" feeling that came through the bars .... I did pipe and PC that and it made a very noticeable difference you can feel and really use in day to day riding
Its 70% rider 30% bike,,, my 01 TL1000R is heavy, 135hp at the crank, 119 at the wheel, but 80 ft-lbs of TQ. And its a sweet vtwin. But I've owned a few GSXRs. I loved my 05 Gixxer 750 20th anniversary edition but to have a bike that is rare to find that is 750cc power and bike liter bike TQ is awesome no regrets...
I loved my gsxr- well my soul loved it.. my wrist, back, shoulders, legs and pretty much every other body part is happier with a sport tour.. I am also about 20 years older. Have stw and keep the shiny side up :)
I wish more manufacturers made 750s. In my opinion its the best overall size. Strangely the insurance for the gsxr750 was higher than some other 1ks I was looking at.
The newer 750s are awesome I love my 05gsxr750. I feel like it's just the perfect bike for me for a lot of the reasons you stated but yeah!! Thanks for the share
I'm an older guy. Been riding sport bikes 40+ years. Thinking about a cruiser, but sport bikes and power still in my blood. Would a 750 be good for me? Anyone???
Eddie J I don't think you'll ever get rid of that need for speed. I guess you could try some naked bikes like z1000, bmw S1000R or the suzuki gsx-s1000. I got the suzuki myself, a true beast with abs and traction control as well. Still, I miss those fenders and that forward riding position. Good luck in whatever decision you make 👍
Eddie, I am 64 and just sold a 2007 BMW K1200R Sport. Fast as a Busa, but comfortable. Since I ride a Goldwing 1500 (along with 3 other bikes in my garage), the BMW was "light" to me as compared to the 900 lb Goldwing. Those incline 4 BMWs are fast. What have I owned to compare it with? K1200RS, ZX-12R, CBR1000RR, TL1000S and the K1200R Sport. That is since I turned 60.....
I don't know about gsx-r after 2008, but at least in 2008 and "onwards" there is a speed restriction in the ECU at 280(managed to get 281 ones)km/h (175mph). The thing is that it reach that speed in 6th gear about 300-400rpm before the peak power, so if you flash the ecu and remove the limit (or use other devices to trick the bike that it is in 5th gear instead of 6th gear) you might possible reach 299 on the speedo. However, that's not the main function of the bike ;) the speed limits is there for "us" But how often do you actually top out the bikes? I don't do it regularly. 750 is an amazing bike, as you might have experienced so far, it's pretty nimble and it actually puts out alot of usable power thru the whole rev-range. that's the main reason why i didn't get a 600, i rode an street 600, 4cylinder (fz6n) as my first bike, and even i felt that it was quiet weak in the low revrange. So for supersport, the 750 was the only option for me. What do you think about the riding comfort on your 750? I think mine is awesome, some say gixxers are the most comfortable supersport, and so far i have not tried anything more comfortable yet. Ride safe and enjoy man ;) Cheers!
2007 GSX-R 750 here...honestly, best all around bike I've ever ridden and I owned a lot of bikes, looking forward to picking up a newer model in the near future. - Best part is, almost everyone doubt's the 750 so it's a bit of a sleeper.
I wish i had your bike, i'm probably stepping up from an Srad (first bike) wich i bought 2 years ago. Still a massive upgrade for me tho !!, you already bought a newer model yet? If so wich one.
It's obvious that you like balance over top speed (1000cc or higher). The 600 super sports are very small bikes, so the 750 gives you a little size and a lot of power. Sounds like a good decision to me!
Looks like a sweet ride! I've considered it myself. The 600cc takes too long to wait for the revs to deliver the power, the 1000cc is harder to handle and more $$$ for insurance. That being said I've got an FZ-1, 487lbs wet with a full tank, and it handles quite well. An exhaust and battery swap and there's 20lbs gone. Though at the price some of these GSXR's are going for now-a-days, I might need one too. It probably feels closer to what a MotoGP bike is like at only 419lbs wet. I think Kawi should bring back the ZX7RR updated for this generation.
I totally agree with you. I own a ninja 636 which I really love. The gsxr750 seems to be a pretty good bike, and I'd definitely consider if I bought a bike today.
I went from Aprilia RSVR Factory to a R3. Did half track season on R3 and can say that I wring out everything on this bike. It's not powerful or superfast, but what it can do in corners.....priceless.
I bought a 98 750 Srad for my first bike, have been in love with them since they came out. I just could not pass up the chance to own one. Yes, it's not as fast as a Litre bike, parts are dwindling, bikes are becoming more rare as people either break them for parts or crash them doing stupid things. I will never stretch the swingarm or turbo it. She runs fairly smooth after I gave it a Power Commander, still needs a dyno tune. It feels so well rounded in corners and on straight roads. Most say it's the best handling version and I agree without having tried any other versions.. It's an amazing piece of kit and I am only worried that I might have to let go of it when She either blows an engine some 60000 km down the line or I can't get parts anymore.
I have one also, a 2000 600 , with K&N filter + Hurric Slipon and Jetkit .. getting 117hp on the axle !! My friend owns a Z750 '05 and he's mad i'm pulling away like a mad dog XDDDDDDD Next year i will go for a k7 600 ! Btw. This srad is my first bike also , it's a thrill to ride, one of the purest machines made that time. Forget the electronic stuff XD
great choice man I've got the 14 model. just put an Akropavic megaphone exhaust with a K&N filter on it with noticable improvement. Love that GSXR 750.
Thanks for the review on the Gxer 750. I have a chance to get a 2012 with only 5k miles for a straight up trade for a dismantled car project so doing some research on this bike. Your take on it is very helpful. Thanks. Enjoy your new ride!
I've owned an r6 and an 05 zx10r - The 05 zx10r is small for a 1000 but I still missed my 600 at times... But I didn't miss the lack of power... So I decided to shop for a 750 myself
Stainless steel brake lines is a must on this bike. Also a ecu reflash. If you can't afford the full Yoshi exhaust a m4 slip on with proper tune will only be a few hps less than full exhaust. Not quite 400 lbs wet though. Many people go to a 16t front sprocket... the clutch grabs so nice on these... wheelies will be way better with more rpms! Aren't you in Florida? Didn't know they had twisties?
what year was your ninja? mine weighs 390 and makes 180 hp. my brother just bought a brand new 750. its fast don't get me wrong. but my zx10r smokes it.
I went from a full bolt on and tuned 2017 ninja 1000 and now got a tuned 2019 GSX-R750. I'm super happy with it. But my ninja put out 136hp n gsx-r750 puts out 134hp.
Love this videos Salt. Looking at picking up this exact bike. Wheelies are fun on a dirt bike but I'm concerned about the front end coming up just using the throttle and not trying to lift it. Does that make sense? If I'm only using the throttle(gunning it), would I have to worry about the front end lifting or is there enough weight up front that this won't be a concern? Thanks so much in advance man. Keep up the awesome work Salt, Andrew
Looks like Central Florida where my brother and I have ridden from Melbourne over towards Orlando. I like the 750 too. Had a 96 CFR 750 and that bike was heavy.
Great switch. I rode in the' 80's and started on a 1100. After a couple of months I was wishing for a cheaper note, cheaper insurance, and a lighter bike. Wtg. If they don't like gsxr's, screw 'em. Lol.
I love your new Gixxer man. Can't wait to see the videos when you put a exhaust & other mods.I think a M4 or Werkes Comp.exhaust would sound great on that bike.
The gsxr 750 is regarded as one of the best sport bikes ever made. I met a guy who rides an R1 and came from a 750 and he said he threw a rod on his 750. No idea how well he maintained the thing or what he was doing on it though
Which Ninja 1000? There was a ZX1000R, ZX-10 E-Box or the new Ninja 1000? I rode all except the new Ninja 1000. The older bikes were beast torque thugs. I personally own an 06 GSXR 1000. Wanted a 750...but the 1000 sounded much more logical.
Funny I have the exact same year and model Ninja 1000 you did and I'm now looking at a GSXR 750, that's how I ended up seeing this video. I was wanting to see reviews. You're right about the ninja wearing you out when you take it out to play on twisty roads. Plus if I would have known Kawasaki put a top speed limiter on it I would have passed from the get go.
Thinking about buying a bike. been riding my friends R6 For about a year now, nice bike but i would like something bigger, what would be your choice between GSXR 750 & 1000 & R1?
Darien Kennedy I have a 2011 gsxr 750. it feels like a 600 and kept up with all the liter bikes and beat a lot of them for about 2 yrs. now all the 1Ks bike are making almost 200 hp as far as 2017. the cost of the 750 is only $200 more then the 600 and a lot faster. my insurance was about the same as it would have been for a 600. down side to the 750 is it is a lot harder to find parts in the after market world unlike 600 and 1ks. if you want to hit the canyons and be fast 750. if you want the biggest fastest bike a 1k
Hey man nice GSXR. Love those bikes as my 1st bike was a GSXR but my ZX10R would smoke any 750cc....These bikes are nasty. They are a bit heavy but I don't think it really matters, as long as you like the bike. Keep the videos coming!
+Klean Kut Konversions Once she's broken in, I already know it wheelies easier though bc I test rode a 2014 model before buying mine lol. to each his own
is the 750 super sport really much different that the 1000 naked bike . I had a chance to get a 750 but didn't do it and always wondered if I should have . My main problem with my FZ1 is I drag the pegs on corners ,I am cornering pretty dam hard when it happens but I wish it would just clear . My supermoto I can corner as hard as I want to throw
Are you on Patterson ? Ah man we gotta meet up and ride together getting my 09 Gsxr 750 stretched tomorrow but I also have a choice of the 08 cbr 1000 what should I get
I have been looking at a second bike as well, because of some of the small issues you mentioned about the N1K. I love my 14 model, but a 636 or even a 750 would be nice.
This is really hard to explain to cruiser guys. Still like those high bars for in town. My bike is taking forever. It better be this week. I change bikes like shorts too.
Can you detail your camera, mount, and mic set up? You audio and video are super clear. Will be getting this bike before June 30...then we can vlog and take the world by storm haha!
Lookin' good, bro! Gonna be at the GA meetup? Be great to finally meet up with ya. I have to work something out...was supposed to fly in and ride another Fl rider's R1....but it isn't available now. I may have to take another day or two from work and drive mine down. (rather be on mine anyway) Kawasaki used to have a 750. The Green Machine....was the first bike I ever wanted. I'm on the R1 now....as far as sport bikes go...I really don't want any other. I'd like an adventure bike at some point for longer rides with some basic, off road capability...
You ride long enough and are in tune with your bikes RPM's you dont need a shift indicator. You can listen and know when to change gears. At least that's how it is for me.
True top speed (GPS measured) of the current GSX-R 750 is between 170 and 175 mph, which might be 186 mph on the speedo. Still fast enough and not as important as handling capabilities.
What's wrong with a GSXR? It's the rider that gives it a bad name, not the bike. I just got my first after owning an FZR600, R6, Street Triple, and FZ-07. So far I like it a lot. It turns a little strange because of the seating position but as I get used to it, it feels every bit as flickable as my R6. There's nothing slow about it and it gets all kinds of looks and compliments. Nothing wrong with a GSXR. I have a 600 currently, but eventually I'll move up to a 750. I doubt I will ever feel the need to go with a liter bike.
totally agree. most of the time if you ask somebody why they don't like gsxr's their response is "all the squids ride them" pretty dumb. like saying you don't like Cadillacs bc all old ppl drive them... ummm give me a CTS plz?! haha
Went from a gsxr750 to an R1, now back to a gsxr750. It really is the perfect sportsbike for the road. Light, handleable, PLENTY powerful enough. The R1 was awful.
Hmmm... 180+ horsepower? I think 125+/- is more close to real world.. My Yamaha R1 2004 is registered 172hp to crank, but around 150hp to wheel. I think specs say my bike weight about 174kg dry and around 195kg wet.. mine has drop 6kg since (2kg with just lighter battery) which is not so different to 750GSXR 2014 which is 430pounds with gas, mine is a tad lighter now.
You Fucking upgraded not downgraded! Of course you'll be happy!!!! Here is the list of the fastest: 1: liter superbikes 2: gsxr750 3: 600cc supersport 4: 1000cc street bikes. So you upgraded (performance wise) from 4th to 2nd.
