Living In hilly country I have had my tractor stuck in many spots such as this one, even while being in 4 wheel drive. I've had it stuck much worse than this, where I've had only 2 tires on the ground, but this was the first time I turned a camera on.

Another option if equipped with split brakes, is to apply the left brake directing power to the right wheel.

Brian Zielke ur right. I need to do that more. It's just habit when I'm stuck to kick down the diff locker. :)

Yes, but don't turn the steering wheel. Keep it straight when the differential is locked. Think dragster.

Neat video. I bought a Mahindra last summer, used it maybe 3 months, and the differential locking mechanism was already malfunctioning. Still covered by warranty, so dealership repaired it. Turns out my linkage under the seat was totally void of any grease and what was happening is, it would lock in without a problem, but when I let off the lock pedal, it wasn't realising all the way. Chewed up the gears inside the transmission to the point that it wouldn't lock in at all anymore. Just thought I would throw that out there for anyone who ever starts having trouble with it not unlocking. This might help you. And it's so easy to grease, why the owner's manual doesn't say to grease the linkage is beyond me.

Good info, thanks! Yeah, who'd be thinking of crawling under there to find grease zirks!? Take care

what model mahindra? I am looking at the Max25 & it is a good feature. In order to grease it Is the diff linkage visible under the chassis ?

Mine is a 1526. You lift up the seat, better still, take it off. No tools needed. The linkage has no zirk fitting, but you can see where it needs lubrication when you press down on the locking petal. I keep something on it now that I know about it. It totally was not mentioned in the owners manual though. Argh. I like WD-40 Spray N Stay gel.

@@jamesmaddox1450 Thanks, makes sense, I will definitely ck the locking diff pedal & follow it's connection to the linkage.

you really shouldnt be turning with the rear end locked, it puts a tremendous amount of stress on your gears as the inside wheel has to actually slip on the ground as you make a turn. if you would of held the left brake it would have made the right wheel turn. Also its not good to lock it in while spinning stop push it in let it lock and then let out the clutch.

I do not keep it locked while turning, at least not very often.. as soon as the tractor breaks free I lift off the pedal. The machine has an 'auto' unlock, whereas when you release the lock, once it senses traction again it automatically releases the lock (again... one of many, many, many reasons I sold the Deere and Kept the Kioti). So, yes I understand what you are saying and try not to hold it in to turns. But thanks for the break pedal, I did not think of that.. I've been using that in mud when I'm stuck on a turn in a ditch, but didn't think of it here! Thanks

But... in fairness to Deere, I think theirs also unlocked automatically...

Oh, and after watching it again I see what you mean about spinning and locking at same time. That is normal for most all tractors (both my Deere's did same thing).. Often when you push on the locker if the gears are not exactly lined up it won't engage, so you have to engage the trans slightly to get it to engage, that was what happened. This is a hydro so there is no clutch.

I have kioti ck40se and my diff lock only will engage if it needs it and it disengages when it doesn’t need it

Here's a tip you have a bucket push it into the ground move your tractor back or forward to get yourself on level ground if you don't have locking diff

Oh and by the Way, the locking differential is EXTREMELY important on a 4WD Pickup truck!! If you're buying a new truck be sure to order it with the rear diff lock!!!!! Ford and GM have had them for years now...

Can you use the diff lock going in reverse? Ie if you are stuck in the mud and want to back out?? Thanks
@kapperoutdoors
@kapperoutdoors 3 года назад
I believe it works just the same in reverse. After you hit the foot pedal it just takes a second and a little bit of movement before it kicks in.

did it get stuck just pulling that piece of fence?..or is there annother reason
@kapperoutdoors
@kapperoutdoors 7 лет назад
Its a ditch, so only one front tire and one rear tire were touching the ground.
