When I started running 8 years ago, I spent the first month focusing on developing good form and learning to breathe, and man am I glad I did.

I retired from active duty (USA) after 23 years in service in 2017. I hated running in the Army! 8-mile Mondays in the SOAR seemed like torture, I didn't mind the road marches though. Now, I'm 46 years old and I love it, I ran 3 marathons in the last 6 months, Frankfurt on October 30th, 2022, Rome on March 19th, 2023, and Vienna on 23 April, 2023. I'll be running my first ultra in Switzerland on September 15th hosted by UTMB world series, the Wildstrubel 113 in Crans-Montana. I am stoked! I have a chock full of injuries from the Army. I thank God every day for allowing me to do this. Someone smarter than I need to teach Soldiers in the United States Army how to run efficiently and properly.

I just watched the Cody Ko episode and now, I'm hooked on the NBP! I totally appreciate how Nick lets the guest do all talking and sprinkles in his own background BUT almost always with the intent of asking the guest something else that only propels their topics and points. I've been mainly in to cycling, mt biking & strength training but these guys are almost selling running for me too..

Great podcast. Just coming off a calf strain from ramping up too much too soon so this should help to avoid injuries in the future.

LT Bare, there's been a big push by the Army specifically to train and have more Master Fitness Trainers and I, like many MFTs, help build out the new FM 7-22 as we transition(ed) over to Holistic Health and Fitness which includes resilience training, the ABCP, training protocols including programming with progressions, etc. So yes, the Army is trying, not sure it's getting there and covid derailed a lot.

I’m about to start college and ROTC this fall after being enlisted for 8+ years. That is the FIRST thing I’m telling my platoon after I commission, running balls to the wall is absolutely stupid as f!?&.

In your opinion, does it matter if you do strength training in the morning and run in the evening or is there something specific about the order?

Supplements are almost entirely useless...& I'm a huge fan of Sam's. We both look the exact same with our shirts off (we don't).
