Yo I have a detail (I haven’t watched the vid yet) at the end both miles have shades on them in Both it’s red and blue but in 42 miles aka the prowler it’s from blue to red saying first good than bad but at SpiderMan miles it’s from red to blue saying bad to good that’s bc 42 miles aka the prowler was supposed to be Spider-Man but the spider that was supposed bit him was teleported to miles his universe he was supposed to be the prowler do you get me
Long story short the evil miles was supposed to be Spider-Man and the good miles was supposed to be the prowler (you can see that by the colors at the end)
man I freaking love the battle between Miles and Miguel, a guy who is not supposed to be Spider-Man (Miles) vs a guy who barely resembles Spider-Man (Miguel), both are essentially the anomaly. I love this movie; it's so freaking brilliant.
Yeah I thought about this during the scene when Miles questions if Miguel is even Spider-Man because of the claws. This also ties back to the beginning of the movie when Miguel was ready to bite Vulture and is stopped by a Police chopper where they say he doesn't seem like a good guy after Miguel tries to convince them he is
ayo now that I think about it, is Miguel an anomoly? I mean he didnt even get bitten by a spider And he doesnt have spidey senses, he just a someone in the future who is smart asf
i love how when after miles saves the lil girl and captain of spider-man india's dimension hobie is the only spider-person to cheer for miles and when miles says that he's finally in the spider-society hobie gets disappointed and covers his face, just two little details i've noticed. I also think that hobie fully knows that miguel's logic about the cannon events is bs, it would be interesting to see miles and gwen's band of spider-people help the spider-society realize that miguel is wrong and they can save more people
I mean we also literally saw indian spider man’s dimension have a dimensional hole appear out of nowhere after that. Will that always happen or what cause gwen gets to keep her father
The writing in these films is insane. One of my favorite aspects of it, is how it rewards the viewers for activaly watching and paying attention to the film, every piece of dialouge is important, every frame is important and almost everything that happens and is set up in the begining is payed off throughout the film. Both movies do this and this one takes it a step further by paying off things that were set up in the first film, from the Bagel to the Spider 42 glitching, to Miles Spider sense switching from green and purple to red and blue showing that his his initial path is showng prowler colors. Simply amazing stuff. Also Miguel goes so hard, a truly intense character without making him a true villain.
My favorite part is the pure tonal shift and how the art, in ALL forms (music, art composition), reflects it. I like how in the beginning towards the middle we have parts of the movie where the art and music is kinda lighthearted and jokey. But once the revelations and stuff with spot starts getting crazier. The story takes a more dramatic, almost dark tone to it. One example is the confrontation between Miles and Miguel. The music is all grungy and static sounding reflection the seriousness of the situation. It's quite literally like if you ripped it out of a horror movie scene when the entity is wandering around and the protags are trying to hide.
Fr tho the music for the whole movie is incredible, and like u said the way the music as well as the art reflects the tone is phenomenal genuinely get so hype every time I listen to the sound track for this movie
@@C0LIN. "Cause I won the stupid lottery" This line from the last movie is foreshadowing to this one. I might be thinking into it too much, but Miles becoming the unplanned Spiderman essentially was a gamble, if his universe tore apart or not. And Miles won that lottery. Miguel lost. And he's pissed. It's also what happened in a recent Miles Morales comic where a villian is angry at Miles as she felt that he was in the school because he won that lottery, where she lost
I honestly loved every aspect of this movie and cant wait for beyond the spiderverse in march. Hobie was probably my favorite character and was amazing each time he was on screen. Also “Pancake”
I really like how they did Gwen's Peter's death it was still heartbreaking to watch despite the fact we knew it was coming and it was a short story in a sense
Two more details that I like are that 1 by the end of the movie when miles ends up on earth 42 and confesses to her mom that he’s Spider-Man he refers to the spot as his nemesis and 2 at the star of the movie when Gwen is playing the drums and giving a rewind of what happened in the first movie she is also spoiling the movie by telling things that happened in the movie
I don't think Miguel is hiding anything, but rather he's a little mistaken about how the multiverse works. And it's hard to blame him, if I caused a universe to disappear by breaking the canon I wouldn't be experimenting to see how much you can break canon before the universe collapses, I would do anything in my power to prevent it from happening again.
I think why I liked Peter B in this movie is that ... this, without question is a Peter Parker who is unambiguously content and happy. He took his leap of faith, he got his miracle baby (who is an anomaly because it stems from him changing his own canon), and from all indications he is a "Stay-At-Home" Dad. MJ mentions when he gets home from Spider Society "how was work?" Meaning his jobs are "Dad" and "Spiderman". While MJ takes up the role of Provider for her little Spider Family (she always had the better career path anyway). They've made it work by narrowing down his juggling act to JUST the two most important responsibilities in his life. Family/Dad & Spiderman only. And while he starts out the movie with quite a bit of Confidence, his betrayal of Miles ultimately results in him second guessing himself; and when opportunity came in the form of Gwen ... he took a Leap of Faith on Miles again. Yes, he has less screen time. Yes, he was fairly comic relief. But the time he did get was good, and gives us a variant of Peter than MANY of us have wanted to see for years. One happy & stumbling into the next faze of his life, beyond teen & young-adult angst and tragedy. As well as giving us a great parallel to Miles and Gwen's dads of teens.
I was just going over Miles’ writing and his conflict and arc which I covered that scene would be included in that, as well as the guidance counselor scene. I would’ve been kind of repeating myself throughout, which is why I didn’t mention it. But I guess I could’ve sorry hope this clears that up
I know it feels like Miguel is hiding something but, I think it is more he doesn't want an alternative hypothesis. The think that is odd about alternatives is that we saw the results of a Canon conflict in India. So unless Miguel is deliberately causing those events, he is at least partially correct.
Barring the Miguel flashback (which wasn't very clear anyways,) the only other times we saw a universe being to unravel were Mumbattan and Miles's own dimension at the end of the first movie, both times happening as a result of the Alchemex collider going off. I don't personally believe Miguel is intentionally lying, he truly believes the canon theory, but that his theory is incorrect.
For those wondering where the spot was for like half the movie: it’s confirmed there were deleted scenes of the spot getting mocked in a bar by Spider-Man villains and in the post credits scene he was gonna solo them after mumbahttan. And we’ll see it in the alternate universe cut
One thing I love is the train scene where miles is fighting against Miguel, while Miles is glitching he flashes between his original costume and his store bought costume. It’s a cool detail that I feel reflects Miles mindset.
You know. Even tho Insomniac Spidey is not a main character in this film. Just know what he had to go through to save his city makes it easier for me to understand why him would side with 2099 even tho Insomniac is friends with a different Miles. But I always wish there where other Miles’s in the film because I would’ve felt it would have been cool for Insomniac Miles to talk him out of saving his Dad given his Dad also died as a cop. As much as I was happy to see spectacular in that scene I would have felt like it would’ve also worked put insomniac Miles in that. Scene instead.
Unfortunately and fortunately these movies aren’t connected to the comics universe which is connected to Insomniac, bc events in this movie contradict the books like Gwen’s story being different despite her earth being the same number in the movie and comics, so it’s not canon for Insomniac Miles or Peter, but I say fortunately bc if they followed the comics it would box them in to a more strict story. But I do agree seeing Insomniac Miles and Peter talk to him would’ve hit so hard
@@C0LIN. I agree, both in the case of it, being fortunate and unfortunate that the films are not connected to the comics. And even though it is Canon that insomniac was in the spider Geddon Comic I don’t need the games to reference it at all. But also unfortunate at least personally to me because I hate that the films make the multi-verse confusing, and decide to steal the Earth destination numbers from the comics. Like the freaking MCU can’t just stay as 19999 & just say their 616. Sony had to put them in their place & say the MCU is 19999. But it’s also confusing when Sony does the same thing and say they’re version of Peter B. Parker is 616. And all the other spiders are in an earth with a similar number as their comic counterparts. Like I don’t really need them to reference the comics, but I would’ve liked if they would’ve just made up their own number so that a comic book found like me can separate the two.
To me Hobie was the absolute highlight of this movie. I didn't know about his character before I watched the movie but now he's my favourite spider-person! I totally agree with people who see him having a big brother vibe towards Miles. I love how he's actively helping Miles from the moment he meets him; giving him advise and trying to talk him out of joining the spider-society, as he knows how Miguel will treat him. I was also so relieved when it turned out he wouldn't be an "antogonist" to Miles in some stupid love triangle with them and Gwen. I'm so exited to see more of him in the next movie! My biggest issue with this one was that Hobie wasn't in it more haha
At first I was confused why they made Jessica look like misty knight when they could just make her misty but then I learned Spider woman was originally black. And since they wanted to go balls deep into the character’s histories, they mixed both versions of spider woman. They even made Hobie a black Brit because of where rock and punk rock came from. This movie has more respect for the source material than the the comics. How?
I wonder if Spider-Man 2 will reference the game’s Peter being a part of the Spider Society. For the games sake, it would probably be better to not, but it would be interesting nonetheless.
PANCAKE! also this was a very great video on a outstanding movie. I've also seen it multiple times like you have and it seems like i spot (pun intended) something new everytime i watch it
This movie is probaly the best Spider-Man movie. I like how Miles and Gwen are portrayed as well as the less important characters like Miguel Peter B Hobie and India Spider-Man. Spot was a fantastic villain as well. The art was really good and I like the way it uses colours to convey emotions. The music was also very underrated.
While I don't exactly agree with you, this movie really is something special for new spider man fans. I personally really enjoyed the first more, but this was like character development dlc I needed lol
Gotta say, though. This 2099 Spidey doesn't hit like Shattered Dimension Spider-Man 2099 did. The movie pokes fun about him not having any humor. Meanwhile, the other one DID... A lot of it. Either way, the direction of him in this movie was amazing. So I completely understand why they went this route. He was an amazing Antagonist.
Really like the response to the criticism of the spider society by bringing up insomniac and civil war peter cause it makes a lotta sense. I guess sum ppl just got rubbed the wrong way seeing like spectacular spiderman or their fav variant being an antagonistic force. Oh and also pancake :)
Great video. Been telling folks when talking about the latest MCU stuff. “It’s the writing stupid”. The writing is why IMO this is a Best Picture candidate.
I'm a bit torn on Jessica Drew... for me it seems like Miguel could take her scenes and it would make the dynamics between Miles/Gwen/Miguel even more powerful 🤔
man tbf I was a bit disappointed after watching this piece of art…but in a good way. I really thought that we would have a clear ending in this movie unlike the first movie which was kinda foolish of me to think that this whole franchise that’s so complex could be summed up in two movies and that’s the only thing that disappointed me…it’s because it ended. I also just love the fact that the directors made spots seem so goofy and dumb at the beginning but made him seem more evil and powerful throughout the story and made him prove everyone wrong, like let him cook this guy is a menace…and man I love everything about spots, the whole concept of his powers, his storyline, his personality, the charisma, even his theme song gives me goosebumps. He’s just a perfect villain for miles and fits so well in this whole franchise. But all of that was just a buildup for BTSV and man I am so desperate that it annoys me that we still have to wait like 2 years or so for the next chapter but guess you can’t rush art
This movie is a prime example of why superhero movie fatigue isn't real. We're not tired of superhero movies, we're just tired of bad/mediocre superhero movies! Across the Spider-Verse will easily be in my top 5 movies of 2023!
Another foreshadowing I haven’t seen anyone pick up on is how I’m miles universe he has a red hoodie jacket thing but in the other universe he puts on that miles jacket and it’s a purple hoodie
I just wish that the next Spider-Verse film has a collaboration with Toei bringing in Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, Power Rangers (maybe), all of Toei's Tokusatsu shows, animated (like with PreCure) or live action, all because of Japanese Spider-Man and what he created and inspired.
I see you weren't the only one who was too impatient to wait to go to the cinemas so you watched it on... Soap2day? am I right? because that's what I did, the 1bet thingy was there and that random cough that scared my soul out of me was there too. did you also get that random add with an alien shooting laser beams?
I expected this movie to be trash but when it came out I decided to watch the movie for fun and see if I was right But I was wrong. THIS MOVIE IS A MASTERPIECE
Do you think it retreaded too much from the first movie? I just saw a review saying that. I watched the movie so I already know but I want to know what you think.
No not really like Gwen for example we got more depth behind her conflict in the first movie, and we see that she’s still struggling to get close with people throughout this movie. The characters that have similar writing are either growing or being more fleshed out from what the first movie did
Off topic but is it possible for one to be faster than Peters spidey sense? Wally outran death itslef, the speedforce and the big bang but some group of guys keep telling me Peter spidey sense is faster than all of it and he can easily dodge wally's attacks(even if wally wanted to kill pete). Maybe i lack knowledge but i do want the truth about this. I know pete is not easy picking but really?
@@C0LIN. THANK YOU. Do you honestly think he could react to wally? They bring up precognition and how Pete's body moves on it's own but they don't realize wallys has it to and he can see the future of any timeline he wants. I called it a un-even fight but they say it's because of Pete. I honestly don't think Pete's body is capable of moving faster than the speedforce which wally has already done.
Aside for the confrontations that miles had with both antagonists, i wouldnt say the story us best or really top notch, solely because of how they wanted to squeeze together two antagonists and stories into one movie resulting into splitting it into 2 parts in 1 movie
Only character i didnt like was Ben Reily, he was less of a character and more satire of his era of comics. Which is a shame because its still one of the greater spiderman costumes and if they were going to make him funny i wouldve liked it done a different way than just commentary on his comics being overly detailed and posey. I get that they couldnt make him super serious, being next to miguel, but man... Anyway, ill consider this movie a master piece depending how the next one goes, cause this movie honestly is perfect buildup to the next one. And its all going to rely on how it sticks that landing.
Ngl, Hobie might be a better mentor than Peter. Also people gotta stop complaining about Peter and Jess endangering children when we got Peter endangering 3 kids and an animal in ITSV And miguel may just be working with what he has. Why would he hide details about canon events that can save people
Yo can u do a response vid to anomaly inc’s vid trashing this movie? It’s vids like those that make me question if they even pay attention to the goddamn movie. Honestly it’s as bad as sk’s video
