I'm a Patriots fan. Adam Vinatieri is the *sole* player the Pats have moved on from that I regret. He's an absolute legend. Can't recall the year or round but I remember, as a die-hard Pats fan, viscerally cheering when Adam (With the Colts) made a clutch kick against the Jets in the 4th quarter of a playoff game. I'll always love that dude.

While Matt Stover might have made them lost a Super Bowl, he was one of the most accurate kicker in the NFL. He’s no Adam Vinatieri but his accuracy: 83.6% is only slightly below Vinatieri 84.3%, the 25th most accurate kicker in the NFL record.

I don't really think that FG lost them the Super Bowl. 50+ yard FG's are risky, not to mention that the Saints got that onside kick to start the half and Peyton Manning threw the pick 6 to Joey Porter at the end. The FG likely would have helped but I highly doubt that was the reason that they lost. If it was a 30 yarder down 2 then ok.

+JTR also keep in mind it was a long kick in the 3rd right? Adam misses those sometimes. While he is a cold blooded killer in crunch time and never seems to miss the big kick he isn't infallible. He is actually only 7-10 in the Super Bowl!

Don't give me shit at the end abput how Mat Stover missing a FG might have won the super bowl with Adam instead. The Colts lost 31-17. A field goal wpuld have had you lose 31-20. The Manning pick 6 to Porter came against a 7 point lead by the Saints. A field goal by Adam still would have made it a 4 point game and needing to score a TD and still a pick 6.

I understand keeping Stover for the rest of the regular season but in the playoffs I would have changed things up and just gave Stover the bench, make him inactive or release him. He's a kicker. They come in three tiers. Top tiers with Vinatieri then mid tiers which was Stover and the shit ass ones at the bottom. Mid tier kickers aren't a dime a dozen but maybe two dimes a dozen? Good video.

Matt Stover had a terrific career in Baltimore.... But even at the end of that he couldn't kick long.... By that time 52 yards was way out of his limet.....Really only anything inside 40 yards he would be automatic at that point in his career..... But in his prime Stover 80% of the Ravens points LoL

Oh please, if Stover makes the kick Colts still lose handily. The very next drive the Saints scored to go ahead and then Manning sucked it up and sealed the deal by throwing a pick 6. The offense was shutout in the 4th quarter and even if he makes the kick they still lose 31-20.

@@GaryMFNoak They still had to go 58 yards to get a TD after the missed kick, not exactly an easy drive. Also there was 5:35 seconds left with all 3 time outs when Manning took the field on his pick 6 drive. That's PLENTY of time to score and no need to hurry. He folded to the pressure and couldn't seal the deal. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, very rarely do QB's not named Tom Brady have those kind of drives. I'm just responding to Pat making it seem like if Vinatieri is in this game they win no problem.
