Mind-blowing animations, I could have just stayed in India 🤯 But seriously, thank you for this unforgettable experience. 🙏 Whenever you need someone to go into the middle of absolutely nowhere again, I’m ready!
Thank you for going there and taking us with you! Danke und liebste Grüße aus DE! P.S. Also loved seeing you in the Carpathians, my mother country, very pleased to see your fascination with the beautiful nature!
As a Kenyan Subscriber, I am actually happy to see you guys do this... The rifts have happened severally in the lower rift valley with little to moderate weather changes. I must say, without flogging a dead horse, you guys really do a good Job, research and production! This is why I'm subscribed!
I am a teacher and today I was teaching continent - continent drift. I was looking for good videos to show in my class. Surely I am going to use this one, and will also recommend your channel to my students.
Fun fact. Landlocked Ethiopia is currently in a struggle to get sea access by Somalia. One of Somalia’s ministers joked to Ethiopia that they should be a little patient bc they’ll get ocean access in a few million years 😂
I'm from ethiopia and I've been watching you for a while. Earthquakes are obviously normal around these places but now the tremors are frequently being felt all the way in addis ababa. thank you for covering afar
What a gorgeous documentary video, as always fern delivers but this time, it really moved me, it had a wonderful human touch to it and I feel Vali was the perfect person to send there, his gratefulness was so touching! Thank you for taking us on such a journey to a place we will never visit!❤
Thank you for the statement on 19:06 they really embrace the spirit and resilience of their home. As an Ethiopian, seeing one of my favorite RU-vid channels covering the Afar region was the best thing ever. Thank you Fern and @valilevi
Ich finde es mega nice, dass ihr das konzept jz igw chilliger und humorvoller gemacht habt. Eure videos sind halt wirklich Filme inzwischen !!! Und Unfassbar ist euch auch extrem gut gelungen!
I stumbled onto this channel a few months back, and i am surprised how fast the videos are improving. It's really a pleasure to watch these really high quality videos for absolutely free! Thank you fern!
Guys!! This video is definitely steps ahead of the usual Fern Stuff!! So happy to see you guys grow!! Kudos and All the best. Hope to see more videos of this calibre!!! 🙌
I was just looking into this subject a couple weeks ago and i was so annoyed that i couldn't find recent in-person videos of the fissure. Im super happy that u covered it and went as far as to send someone there to film and show us how it actually looks and how the people their are living. Thank you so very much ❤️
Ich finde ihr habt euch mit diesem Projekt selbst übertroffen. Das ist meilenweit die beste Doku, welche ihr je geliefert habt, 2bg miteingenommen. Hut ab!
Fern, I can't thank you enough for the amazing work you do! Your videos are beyond high-quality, and the level of research and detail you put into them really shows. This video really stands out, it was an eye-opening experience; crazy good animations and the fact that you guys set up to travel to the actual locations just to make these videos for us to watch for free is mind-blowing. Honestly, it's like I'm getting way more value than even a RU-vid Premium subscription. Keep up the incredible work! 🙌
I could hug all of you. Seeing you making a video about this just makes me ridiculously happy. I spend my days reading up (the disableds version of researching) about the geological history of earth, specifically about what we can read from the geological structures (mountain ranges, etc) we have today. It's special watching it happen in real time and you of all people making this video is just... Thank you
I am from Ethiopia, and this month only, just five 4.6 magnitude earthquakes occurred in that region, and earthquakes are not that often for us, therefore I believe something significant is happening.
Wow, I love how you've not only given a geological overview but even a look into the culture of the Afar people, and giving them a voice! I'm amazed, seriously.
You guys’ production quality always blows my mind, yet you continue to improve more with every video. No one else on RU-vid right now holds a candle imo
I had goosebumps watching that intro. I always love your videos they just have such a unique energy of informing about interesting niche topics combined with a young humour. Pls keep this up the internet needs more of such high quality content.
Just as I went to your channel to see if there were any new uploads, I get blessed with another incredibly intruiging story! Thank you Fern for the continuous top notch documentaries.
this production quality is something i've never seen on youtube before. felt like a nat geo documentary. heck it felt better than some nat geo documentaries..
Fantastically composed documentaries like this is exactly why I've been subscribed to you lot for the longest time - I'd be very surprised if this doesn't get a million views in the next few days
That's an absolutely amazing video to watch. The amount of effort put in this video is really incredible. Trip to Ethiopia, interview with an earth science professor, animation, renders. 🤯
the only thing missing from these videos are subtitles but amazing videos nonetheless :) ive only been watching since a couple months ago but the increase in the quality of these videos is actually seriously impressive
As a Geophysics student it is so funny to see how excited you get about discovering the East African Rift, I didn't know how little knowledge people outside of the field have about things like this, I just assumed it was known because everyone around me does. Even more important then, that you are covering topics like this
Superb video truly went above and beyond with the interviews and the collaboration with the incredible traveling Vlogger Vali. This this is the standard that other content and documentary series on RU-vid should strive to be like because this is easily Hulu or Netflix material. Bravo.
Thanks for this, seriously, now i can just share this video to people as its kind of hard to explain this all. And if Netflix ever offers to buy your channel please don’t, love your content ❤
The fact that Ethiopians already knew about this so many years ago😂 (because of the Ethiopian orthodox bible) "yet has a lot of undiscovered mysteries" It is fascinating that Ethiopia has been a Christian since 4th century, long before Christianity spread to many other regions of the world
What a great film! I did a project on the East African rift system ten years ago and later studied similar rift volcanic intrusions here in Finland, even though they are 2.6 billion years older than those in East Africa. Thank you for showing geology in a unique way, where people live around a special ever-changing landscape attributed to active plate tectonics.
I knew about the rift and the whole thing, but I'll watch literally anything by Fern team. Guys 💅🏻 Going on a location is some new level of dedication. Thanks Dr Keir and Vali for taking part in this.
This was the least fern-ish video you ever did. I never would have expected a travel/geology video from you guys. I really liked it! Great job guys, you are going in a really good direction with the channel! 💚
