Shipping in China is much faster and cheaper than in the U.S.. The shipping speed is linked to a seller's rating, so they have to offer free and fast shipping to stay competitive. Usually, if a product is not received in two or three days, the seller has a potential to receive a low rating. For bigger seller like Ray Ban, Nike, ...the official stores. They have to use 1 or 2 day shipping. Do your job, journalist.

World was so dependent on US ! New/ better technology , new/ better services... big companies - all USA. Alibaba has shown the way to Asian countries that they too can be bigger better !

One interesting feature of Alibaba is the Taobao online marketplace. This is where entrepreneurs and consumers meet and strike a deal. Sellers are paid only when buyers are satisfied. Vendors in the marketplace depend heavily on the rating system as good marks there ensures your continued survival or dropout entirely if your ratings are poor. Good to know this.

There's nothing original about Jack Ma's work. All are just copies from other companies that aren't popular in China and he exploits this by making it culturally enjoyable to use

Linnyboy paypal is an online payment, but alipay functions as a "mobile" wallet. I'm sure you can't pay for vending machine or subway ticket with paypal.
