One thing to note about making it at home is that it’s not a good source of calcium compared to the store bought almond milk. So just keep that in mind if you have kids, which need calcium while they’re growing
The store bought almond milk uses a man made calcium supplement. Simply add in your own calcium supplement. You can even make your own homemade from egg shells.
Was looking for this comment. Cause I can’t keep regular cow milk down so was about to go buy almond milk till I started researching and see stupid videos like this 🤦🏼♀️ everything is bad for you now days. Not only that my sister told me about the huge ass gerber lawsuit going on
Failing to point out that homemade almond milk is Also mostly water.... you are not squeezing milk from a nut, you are making a slurry with water and a handful of nuts and squeezing out water with nut residue. its only sugary if you buy the stuff with, wait for it.... added sugar. If you add sugar to it it will have added sugar, duh, whether the sugar is from the factory or from your cabinet!
He conveniently left out the part about squeezing the almond slurry through a cloth. Just put almonds in a blender with water? A little bit harder than that.
I make my own almond milk, cashew milk, nut milk. Yall it’s so easy. Look it up on RU-vid. Just overnight soak it, then add to blender, add vanilla extract(pinch), salt(pinch), a lil honey. Drain that thang. I eat it with my cereal, cookies you name it.
i think there's a false statement in your video about carrageenan used as food additives. generally carrageenan is made from seaweed and is a good source of fiber for digestion. carrageenan added to almond milk or other foods serves as a thickening agent and stabilizer, so if used in sufficient doses it is not harmful to the body. i am not trying to take sides with almond milk, but in the composition of almond milk that you show, carrageenan is not in the initial order so it can be ascertained that the dose used is small. correct me if im wrong 😊
I think In conclusion..if you can do it yourself, better do it than buying the readymade product from the supermarket... it's cheaper and way healthier for you !! Thanks for the tips 😣✨ ..I see no reason to pay for those extra ingredients and additive lmao😂
Some people aren't happy with the taste of their own homemade milk, and they're already enjoying store-bought almond milk, idk what's the psychological principle or something behind it but apparently it was true🤔
I just started making my own almond milk and it’s so much better. It is def a different taste but in a good way and for most, if you’ve been having store bought almond milk, will need to get used to. I sweeten mine it’s dates and a vanilla bean (or you can extract). I use 2 cups of almonds per half gallon so I’m get the most out of it. I do not use any emulsifiers and a good shake of the glass bottle works perfect. It lasts up to 5 days, I’ve had mine in the frig for 3 days and it’s still as fresh as day 1! I recommend storing in a glass airtight container and in the back of the frig for the coldest spot. Don’t leave it out on the counter, put it back as soon as you’re done with it. If you can’t drink a half gallon in 5 days, you can use 1 cup almonds (soaked overnight), 4 dates, one or half a vanilla bean will all depend on your preference. Blend everything up and pour through a sieve, cheese cloth, or nut bag. Only 3 ingredients vs store bought which is also loaded with cane sugar!
Checking labels carefully (and doing their own research on which ingredients are unhealthy) should definitely be a skill taught more often - same with cooking.
This video ain’t correct. Most almond milk, at least in Australia, has limited yet healthy additives. It’s usually calcium/vitamins, vegetable gum, sunflower letchin & salt, all natural and good for you! Y’all need to start worrying about eating takeout every week that’s probably hormone injected.
You can use a couple of dates when blending any plant milk to add some healthier sweetness. Healthier natural sugars with a lower glycemic index. You could use raw honey, agave or maple syrup. Healthier sugars like piloncillo , Mexican cane sugar, which contains a lot of nutrients. Adding a little cinnamon, vanilla or other sweet spices will also add some sweetness. Keep in mind that all animal milk contains lactose, which is a natural sugar. @@bernardinotorres4182
Vegetable gums have been well studied in both human and animal models and have been proven to cause issues in the gut. For the vitamins most of the time they are going to be in very poorly bioavailable forms.
I think it’s different in the states cause they have less regulations on what ingredients cannot be used. I know in Canada we have a bit more regulation but not that much 🥴💀
Carrageenan is made from seaweed, similar to agar-agar. The "digestive problem" is probably because it makes you poop. Carrageenan is a form of fiber, it creates more volume to your poop, attracts some water so the poop is softer, and gets out easier.
I was about to say that too. Carageenan is added to a lot of foods - I see it a lot in ice cream and dairy beverages. I suppose it could cause issues for people with IBS if they consumed a lot? And it's always possible for people to have intolerances and allergies. But in general, it's a safe texture enhancer/stabiliser derived from a natural source
Start to eat good fruit to eradicate the bad radicals from your body. That will delay the dorm cancer. Probably you wont get any cancer. As the previous comment said it's over time.
My almond milk literally says water and almonds are the first ingredient, so when I go to make it at home, it's still going to be more water than almonds lol right?
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته قال النبي الدين النصيحه لمن يرغب بنصيحه كل المعلب غير صحي كله مواد حافظه وصناعيه والسكر والزيت غير صحي هذه مسببات الامراض للناس
Well isnt that fucking great. Today was my first time buying and trying almond milk and i loved it. Then i see this.🤦🏽♂️ well, atleast thanks for telling me tho! Making my own after this carton is done. That SILK one is the EXACT one i bought lol
do more research than just accept this video as the full truth. The almond milk I drink is by blue Diamond: Almondmilk (Filtered Water, Almonds), Honey, Cane Sugar, Calcium Carbonate, Natural Flavors, Sea Salt, Potassium Citrate, Sunflower Lecithin, Gellan Gum, Vitamin A Palmitate, Vitamin D2, D-Alpha-Tocopherol (Natural Vitamin E). I see nothing wrong in this milk. and tbh it tastes really dang good with no iLL effects
Or you could just buy almond milk that has only almonds in it. I buy almond milk from aldi. It's original, no flavors, no sugars, just almonds and water. There, now you don't have to make it yourself.
I am going to continue drinking almond breeze dark chocolate. I am not concerned. Because like anything I do in moderation.its like when I was kid "saccharine bad it gives cancer to laboratory mice" yes when you give it 100,000 times the recommended amount. Same here ..anything to an over amount will cause problems.
I don’t have almond milk very, often, though as the only time I would have is for breakfast often with cereal and that’s about it. I don’t usually drink it like very often. I’m more of like a sparkling water kind of guy myself.
Disingenuous claim about almond milk being mostly water, as all milks are mostly warer, whether you buy it, make it, or drink the kind made by cows who drink water to produce it. Making almond milk is easy and delicious, so there's no need to fearmonger about store bought. Before making my own, I bought commercial almond milks, always unsweetened and never with carrageen.
What about soy milks? Is it more "safer" because they're not popular as the almond one? But personally I'd like to grind my own almond or soybeans to make a milk from it
but buying that amount of almonds and adding water is giving you the same thing (still majority water) except it costs a lot more. might as well just buy pure almond milk.
Notice all the same comments about backroom ppl coming out ? Notice how not one person seems to disagree? Yeah that’s how you know who is behind videos like this . Do your own research ppl . In a world where nobody gets along you have 233 comments with zero disagreements?🙄
Trying to make and grow food at home that is healthy for you. The government is actually against it. They rather you grow cannabis instead of food supply that’s healthy .
Wtf this is why my stomach hurts after plant based protein I’ve used for years I started using almond milk to give it a creamer taste and smh I’ve been dying of stomach pain
