Good to see an Rs being returned to standard. I run a Milltek system inc sport cat, I've both centre sections res and non res , and prefer the louder non res, I also have the standard pipe for the future. Hammertoe Kriust is good start on subframe, however rubbing down, painting with primer and then satin black gives it the 'showroom' finish.
@@CarFocused one feature of not having a booming exhaust is all the extra noise you hear from the cars intake and bov. I have an aftermarket plenum and a K&N open filter with a stage 1 Superchips tune. I really love the in cabin intake noise through the still connected symphoser.
Thats the next best thing that you've done with the exhaust system. I remember the cold start and drone noise (especially around 70mph) on the Scorpion system on my RS!😅
@@CarFocused I'm still on stock exhaust but I have done a de res, sounds great mate just a bit louder than stock but has a nice deeper burble to and sounds great under load, I have a 200 cell sports cat to put on next week to
Those are the same mats as mine, it will keep the dust down and as a by product of it sinking down where the tyres sit you could keep the handbrake off and it won't go anywhere lol. My ST is also oem plus, under the bonnet is a bit more of a party though 😊
That's more or less the way I also tried to build my RS too 😉 - except from the exhaust and the stuff under the bonnet. 😁 These floor mats should be quite good for the garage, I think, mine are a bit thicker but it should work ... you'll see in a few months. 😉 Unfortunately for the rust- treatment issue I can't give you any tips, because in Germany we simply have completely different products AND particularly different requirements for the sale of these products in trade. 😶
I have some goodies under the bonnet, and will have the sports cat to go with the downpipe - but that’ll probably be it, unless I can get a good deal on a high flow fuel pump 😁 Hopefully the matts will last...we shall see!haha. Thanks for watching!
I’ve still got the standard exhaust on mine. I bought a Mongoose & sports cat at the beginning of last year, didn’t put it on as there was no point, couldn’t go anywhere or do anything. Now I’m not sure to put it on or not especially as you have to cut the original off. Might just go with sports cat & downpipe too & see how it is first.
Yea lockdown really doesn’t help - but I guess you have more time on your hands to get it fitted maybe? Yea you’ll have to cut it off - I had to sleeve mine over the rear axle!
I agree Gary the standard exhaust does sound really good i have the Mountune system and that sounds really nice too. If i could get a decent standard exhaust for a good price i would get one too to try out with the Milltek downpipe and sports cat i have 🤔
Great vid ..... have you thought of a Milltek system .... top quality and just enough of a subtle noise change .... I love mine (Mk4 ST)..... you do exactly what you want with your car .... it’s stunning...and keep the vids coming....if you ever fancy reviewing my car Gary ....if the world ever gets back to normal !!!... Mk4 Focus ST , Milltek exhaust , H&R lowering springs, Judd wheels, uprated intercooler, Dreamscience remap, Maxton body kit 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I love the RS, dream to own one, I took the scorpion exhaust of my ST which was on it when I brought it as it droned and was to aggressive for me, I’m 33, I brought a standard exhaust and done a de-res and it’s perfect for me 👌
She's a cracking car. I love your passion Fella. The stock exhaust is a looker and it sounds decent. Your Son is going to be chuffed when he is older to have his own RS. ATB Reeco
I reckon you had a non resonated system which is why it 'droned'. Instead of going for a downpipe and sports cat, I'd have gone for standard downpipe and cat and combined it with a milltek euro spec resonated system
It’s more beneficial in terms of power to change the downpipe and catalyst though - the standard items are quite restrictive. I may add a Milltek cat back to complete the system at a later date though...
Good to see you are still getting out the content even though you now have a new born. I’m still living with having little to no free time, my sons 5 now but had a heart condition so takes about it looking after. That said, I still have my mk3 Rs and I have no intention of putting it back to stock. My son loves the pops it makes. I do love the Electric RS toy car, your son will love it. 😂
I wouldn’t bother with those mats all over - they will come up, hold water & generally get on your nerves. I sealed my floor with concrete sealer, the. Painted grey with floor master vinyl paint, with some cheap carpet tiles for the tyre runs to protect the paint. 3 years later, it’s still great. Carpet tiles just need a Hoover now & again. Wish I could post some pictures in here to show you
You can defo review my rs in the summer mate👍 and can't go wrong using anything hammerite, I've used it for all my cars in the past for things like inside wheel arches, had an astra vxr nurburgring before and painted all inner arches in smooth white and it looked professionally done and the finished lasted with no stone chips or anything
They do a rust inhibitor to if you have any bad corrosion otherwise it's clean up and paint straight on, I nearly kept the standard exhaust on mine, I had a plan on just to do the de cat section and then go get some custom tips made
I’m at the stage now where I can’t be doing with loud exhaust - the standard one may not be loud to some people but to me it sounds sweet, plus you still get the pops 😁
@@CarFocused I don't mind the noise, it all adds to the fun of it for me, intake is as loud as it can get, it's on poly bushes and Bilstein suspension, so it's a bit of a raw experience. I love it. A turbo'd five pot open at both ends is a mechanical symphony to my ears haha. BTW, I totally agree with you on the RS. I would have one as a drool car and restore every nut and bolt to factory new if I could. I rode motorbikes a lot up until a few years ago, the one I got most compliments with on the sound of it's exhaust at full gas was a GSXR1000 K5. It had a standard exhaust. The exhaust was ugly to some but it was beautiful to me. Full titanium. Everyone was fitting Yoshimura systems to k5 and K6s at the time. I bet they wished they had kept the standard ones.
I can understand you. You are not 25 years anymore, and everybody modified the shit out of this cars,to get a original one is getting harder and harder, and you try to keep yours as closely as possible to standard with some little modifications and i like it 😁💪🏻
Good shout with the Mountune / Rally Armour flaps Gary, got them on my Mk2 and they're so much better than the cheaper versions - the fittings are much better quality and they sit so much better in the arches.
@@yaminasli www.mountunestore.com/collections/mk3-focus-rs/products/mud-flaps Just here mate, though looks like they're sold out for the mk3 rs! I would imagine that more stock will be available soon
@@yaminasli Ah ok, sorry, I mis-read your message. Looks like Mk2 rs flaps are out of stock as well, I don't think the Mk3 ones fit the Mk2 - the holes for mounting them are different
Mate, if you want to complement the rest of the car (stunning) with an epic underside restoration (Get it done right first time) I can only recommend one man for the Job. Peter Williams at Demon Performance Centre his underside restorations are incredible I’ve known the guy for 11 years and he’s the only guy I’d trust with my Mk1 RS.
I bought some of the Halfords mats too, great value for money. Good call on the exhaust, those clips sounded like a group B Quattro rally car 👍👍. I’d be going for Bilt Hamber for the rust stuff, not sure you’ll get it in Halfords mind.
Good video, rs looks sweet. Build the car how you want mate your car your rules! I have a 3 year old and you so right about having kids leaves you with no time haha. Enjoy
Standard is the way forward my friend it looks great Mines totally standard too just short of 8000 miles an what an occasion to drive I dare say I told you so about the focus badge 😂🤣
@@CarFocused yes it’s not bad pal just picked up 2 very minor scratches from our little freinds along the way whilst in the garage not noticeable at all but I know they their Would be shame to show it the spray gun for very minor damage Keep up the good work m8
Hi, what make is the car cover and would you recommend it? I have a MK3 that's barely seen the light of day this past year and would like to do the same. Thanks.
I should think you are still removing mods because so many were made to try and make it quicker, when they first came out people were deeply upset by them and nearly all of them were made at least an extra 80bhp more to try and get the performance up a bit, in my opinion the looks were bang on from the start, no need to chav them up, but motor needs to be 400+ but no more than 450 as it's just lost, 4x4 conversation and 500+ would be the ticket, but ford dropped a bollock and then came the even worse mk3. Would love to speak to ford one day in the future and ask them who was to blame for the mk3 lol
@@CarFocused in that case it will be in my opinion basically perfect, they will do 375 without upsetting clutch/gearbox/driveshafts/turbo and best of all it will continue to put the power down,, so many people hunt for big numbers and it make them worse lol,, anyway you know this, thanks for reply nice to have conversation with you
Yes it is but the flanges are compatible between the after market 3 inch stuff and the standard cat back - the Mountune MP350 kit and RS500 ran a bigger downpipe couple with the standard cat and cat back system.
