A real sports journalist commented on a video I saw on the subject, clarifying that the conditions that those guys played in were vastly different than today. Smoke filled auditoriums, playing five to six nights in a row, travelling in rickety buses, playing on terrible floors, sleeping in dumpy motels, playing in low top Chuck Taylors etc etc. These were the pioneers of basketball that without them carrying the torch, there would be no NBA that these primadonnas nowadays take for granted. Their narrative is that they (modern players) are the reason the NBA exists and makes so much money. No sorry Nick and JJ et al. The foundation was laid decades ago and built upon by each successive generation. These guys play on floors that others built. They just had to show up. The Lebron regime has worked very hard to destroy what those guys built up. Mine and others disgust for these POS for their entitled selfish behavior is entirely deserved and then some. I hope JJ gets that gig with the Lakers and he finally gets to reap what he has sown. That is to say, his just deserts. I heard NO ONE on television talk about his 7 turnovers in game #1 loss to Denver and they all talked of how well he played. Now that he is out of the playoffs I've heard several comments about players having turnovers that are hurting their teams. All of a sudden turnovers are critical because they are not Lebron turnovers!! It really is pathetic.

What's interesting is fast food workers began demanding more money. So McDonald's began installing AI driven computers and robots. Is because having Lebron on your team means you will get no fouls called on your team and get fouls called every time they get touched. The most disappointing people to me is Reggie Miller and Shannon Sharpe. I had the misfortune of watching an episode of Gil's Arena for the first time and it had John Salley on it doing his usual schtick of pretending to be objective but consistently trying to chip away at MJ's legacy. This time the argument was that the triangle is what got MJ six rings and the implication was that LeBron got four rings with no system and how that might be more impressive. They even have one guy on there who makes half-baked arguments for Jordan as the supposed "LeBron hater" but he doesn't give the obvious counter arguments to the nonsense coming from Arenas which makes it appear as if he's just clinging to some sort of irrational Jordan fandom in the face of better evidence for LeBron being the GOAT. It reminds me of how Shannon would give more specific and disingenuously nuanced pro Lebron arguments on Undisputed and instead of calling out the lies or correcting Shannon's misleading framing, Skip would look like he had no answer and just double down on "6-0 in the finals" and "killer instinct". It's all so blatant how these shows treat their audiences like morons and yet it seems to work on a lot of people. It's no better than the BS you see in politics with corporate owned news like MSNBC, CNN, and Fox News all manipulating people to vote dem or repub for bad faith reasons. As long as it's like this, there will always be a place for detailed and honest pushback against the LeBron narrative.
The other night at the end of the Knicks-Pacers game, they were explaining how the last time the Pacers played in a game 7, it was against the Cavaliers. And of course they had to glaze Lebron and throw in how he scored 45 points or some amount in that game. An individual statistic which was completely irrelevant and would never be mentioned in that context if it wasn’t their golden boy Lebron.
