@@Svarkomyimo what? Make this comment make sense bc ima put some dirt in your eye is iconic that’s the type of fame tht sticks forever just like homelander Ryan as Deadpool an Robert as iron all roles that made them a level they’d have never ever been an please tell me how it was a bad thing for them considering they made a once in a life profit
I truly think it’s the fact that we the audience knows his cold side so well that we unconsciously either see through the smile or look for hints of darkness in it cause we see a different side. I imagine the civilians in the earlier seasons of the show genuinely see an honest goodie guy smile lol
*I watched "Banshee" when it was prime-time on Cinemax. The ONLY reason I was interested in this show, (And I read the comic years ago) was when I found out HE was playing The Homelander. He earned the Emmy YEARS ago. He's just too talented to get it.
Bruh and he goes through a FULL range of emotions as this character like constantly. Hes amazing. This role really showed everything he’s capable of, I won’t be surprised if we see a lot more of him in other shows and movies now with big fat checks written out to his name.
@@apexv0322 He kinda is. I can already picture him wearing Homelander's outfit and everything. Yeah it might not be better than Antony's, but it is pretty damn close.
According to him, he did it out of spite to his agent. The agent kept pestering him to do it so he said he barely made an effort and sent one in just to show the agent he wouldnt get the job.
He NAILS that role. Every thought going through the character’s head is perfectly conveyed. Slight ticks of his face to raw rage mixed with the sense of being alone with a world beneath him. 👍
Anthony Stahr is one of today’s most versatile actors ever. Just look at the montage here of all the different characters he played so far! He has that De Niro Way about him to convert into any role he chooses to play. This grandmother loves him. Bravo, I’m a fan.
He played identical twins in the New Zealand show outrageous fortune. Both characters are so convincing yet different. One is so sexy and the other is sophomoric and unattractive.
In a way that's how Ford ended up getting Han Solo, he was told he was just reading to help others read because they were not going to use him, but after everyone read for it they realized that the rude stoic don't care vibe was actually the best way to play Han Solo and he got the part.
He said he did the audition out of spite. His publicist was pestering him to audition for a long time. He sent it to prove them wrong so they can get off his back. The rest is history.
That’s how Kazunari Ninomiya got his role in Letters from Iwo Jima! He is a big fan of Clint Eastwood and that’s why he took the audition for the movie, but as he found he wouldn’t be able to meet Eastwood face to face, he acted test scenes with no passions, no impressive expressions. Then later, Eastwood found his emotionless calm action in the audition tape and chose him!
Its pretty crazy but his facial features are actually perfect for the roll, his lip and the shade of his eyes give real serial killer but charismatic type vibe
Watch Outrageous Fortune, he plays two twins who are polar opposites - it's an incredible performances, you'd truly believe that two different people were playing the characters. I've always thought he was an incredible actor since like 2006
Lmao damn ppl are kinda thirsty in these comments, like I understand the compliment but the "so freaking" along with the exclamation mark, like calm tf down lmao this is a RU-vid comment section, just go scream it to his face personally😂
-"Hmm, today I will send a half-assed audition reel to a superhero show production." -"Congratulations! you got the lead role, Mr. Starr!" *Task failed successfully*
*It was an awesome, crazy show on Cinemax with Antony Starr as the lead. *Please, I implore you, if you have not seen this show, make it a priority to do so. *Note: There is no exaggeration, overstatement or over-dramatization in my opinion of this show. Just check out the 1st episode. That's all you need. You deserve it. You'll see EXACTLY why he was chosen as The Homelander. ***Let me know what you think...
That's exactly how Lucius Malfoy got cast too The guy came in and wanted to be Lockhart because he was tired of doing villain roles, so when they asked him to read for Malfoy he did it with low effort and a little disdain.
If you haven't watched banshee it's very good. He plays a convict who goes to a town chasing his ex and thru deception and good/bad luck, takes over for the sheriff. My departed dad used to call him slealing fighting sex man, as every episode he'd usually do all three, but after a couple of episodes he watched it all with me. To Homelander, the stealing fighting sex man.
There are only a few people who are only meant for certain roles, like wolverine for huge jackman or deadpool for Ryan Reynolds. Antony starr was just one of the many few who was actually meant for this very role and was just born into it, which am very happy to have stumbled upon when the show very first started.
He didn’t necessarily NOT want it, he just got asked to send a video audition, he did, without much effort, and they REALLY loved it so he ended up getting it, and he is now very happy he got the role.
I mean, it's a lot of fun and stuff, but he's playing a monster, basically, that can adhere a little to you if you act like it for an extended period of time. I'm sure he worries a little about being too rude out of character or smth like that
i remember hearing something about how Antony Starr originally wanted to play and auditioned as Mother's Milk, but, like this short says, his stoic and don't-care attitude was perfect for the role of Homelander
