Im guessing, with this economy. This sounds...cost effective.

Since companies are shrinking their packaging, we might just as well not buy it, true. 👀

Yes, but usually you need to replace shampoo with something. For example, I use oils and scalp serums to lubricate the scalp and scrub off dead skin and dandruff before rinsing it out in the shower. This is a very old method. People also use eggs, rice flour, apple cider vinegar, clay, etc. Not many people can do water only, but if you can, then I'm jealous ❤

tbh i know one day i will just quit shampoo. I already wash my hair only once a week. People don't realize the more they wash it the more oil their scalp will produce.

I definitely recommend to be thoughtful when using shampoo.

I did no shampoo for over 3 years. At first it was great. My hair seemed to like it. But over time my hair just got flatter and more and more unmanageable and stringy. I recently went back to using shampoo and I will keep using it because my hair is soooo much better. Maybe it would be fine for people with short hair or different hair types but it definitely isn't for me.
@MichalMujgos
@MichalMujgos 5 месяцев назад
Thanks for sharing your story. What is your current frequency? I was thinking to maybe just significantly reduce the frequency and wash with shampoo few times a month

@@MichalMujgos - I wash my hair twice a week now. Just doesn't need it any more than that. When I was without shampoo I tried everything from every other day to just once a week. Blowdrying and air drying. A bit of conditioner, no conditioner. I really gave it a good run but, honestly, my hair is so much better with shampoo that I will never give it up again. I'm sure it was technically healthy without shampoo because I did nothing to damage it, but it didn't look very good. Now I'm back to blowdrying it and it looks and feels healthier, shinier, and bouncier.

Thanks, I think I might end up on the same path. Still, better for me than before when I was washing it almost every day without giving it any thought.

I personally have had a lot of problems with dandruff, though my scalp never itches. I think this is completely due to using shampoo since I don't remember having this issue when I was a lot younger. I'm edging towards the no shampoo movement myself because I feel like that is what is going to solve my scalp problem. It is absolutely humiliating to have flakes in your hair, KNOWING you are washing your hair and doing everything you are supposed to do. I've also read that a lot of people have had good success with their hair health after they stopped using shampoo. I don't think we actually need to use shampoo.

I think mindful experimenting can't hurt. Everyone should try what works for them specifically

What a BS. There are hair doctors and shampoo is not for hair! It is for scalp, Jesus. I have an oily scalp, I tried to manage it somehow without a professional and I failed. All your shit about "stop washing it and it will get better" just never works for ppl with oily scalps. Not only my hair was dirty and unpleasant, I also got painful ackne on my skin under hair. The problem is - all those advertised products are dogshit and do nothing to your scalp or hair. That is why it is safe to use them everyday, u see. You gotta spend money to actually get a product for your scalp type that will fit you. It is about hygien yes, and shampoo should be about hygien and not about looks. And there are many professional products you can get in specialised shops, and not in any cheap food market
@MichalMujgos
@MichalMujgos 5 месяцев назад
I mean you kind of just underline my points. I said most people don't visit hair doctor (I don't know anyone around me who did). Which is true. I said marketing around shampoos are based around hair not scalp. Which is true. So what exactly you disagreed? Maybe you just disagree with the movement, which is understandable and for which I just provide point of views from both sides.

Ever try baking soda + apple cider vinegar rinse? My hair is really thick, when I had it very long my scalp would get kinda gross in the summer months. That rinse worked well for me.

Shampoo is not the problem, the ingredients in shampoo may be a problem, just use a sulphate free shampoo and you'll be fine.

I have not been using shampoo for last ~15 years and have never felt a need to go back to it. Normally I just wash it daily with water. No idea if this would work for everyone though, I have short hair so I don't how tangled it would get if it was longer. Since it's so long ago I don't remember how long it took to "settle", but I think it was matter of months.
@MichalMujgos

Wow 15 years! I did breake the streak after 2,5 months, because I didn't feel comfortable to go to barber with just water. But now I am again no washing with shampoo. Hopefully it doesn't have bad impact to wash with shampoo once a month.

Yup I tried washing my hair less for about 8 years. I’d go 2 -3 weeks sometimes without washing my hair. I then started noticing hair loss and went to my dermatologist. Found out that the sebum your scalp produces is within carbon chain lengths of 12-24 which makes it appetizing for yeast. Yeast then makes the scalp environment less optimal for hair growth so that’s how I lost my hair. It’s been a few years now of daily washing and my hair hasn’t looked this good since early highschool. It doesn’t work for everyone. I tried as long as I could to go low shampoo but everyone’s scalp is different.

I used a natural method for a while for my hair, at first it worked wonders, my hair grew from bra strap to waist length. After a while I got pimples and started noticing less hair in my edges (where is the greasiest), that whole time I was shedding a lot of hair. I went back to shampoo, one with gentler sulfates and I wash it once or twice a week, my hair looks healthy and long 😊 wouldn’t go back to no shampoo methods tho.

tribes from amazonia don´t use shampoo and their hair is amazing... yeah right but we live in cities and polluted areas.. not to mention the virus and bacteria we ´collect´ from 1 day... of course we need to be more cleaner

I've dated men who tried doing "no-poo" and it made their scalps stink to high heaven. What you say in the introduction isn't how shampoo works. The function of shampoo is removing oil and bacteria from the SCALP. Not washing the scalp can cause a range of skin conditions. Conditioner doesn't add oil back in, it adds silicones which coat and protect the hair. Silicone-free conditioners use less effective conditioning ingredients. Conditioner isn't applied to the scalp. The lengths of long hair naturally dry out severely between washes without additional conditioning products being using during that time, and the oil from the scalp will never reach that hair. There are people who claim you can distribute the sebum using a boar bristle brush, but it's BS because of the nature of sebum. It's thick and sticky. Marketing is relevant when it comes to the unrealistic claims companies make about their shampoos. There are basically two types of shampoo: those that contain SLS and those that don't.

I stopped using shampoo and conditioner in 2014. I repriotized and simplified my life and what I was spending money on. Shampoo leaves your hair dry, frizzy, and stripped of natural oils.

@@MichalMujgos I have thick hair, when it's long I'll do an apple cider vinegar (you can add baking soda if extra grimey) rinse on occasion, esp. if it's hot and humid where I am at the time. Whith shorter hair in the summer months, esp. if active outdoors, I'll wash my hair once in a while (once a month, if even?) with Dr. Bronners or some very natural soap with no sulfates, or chems. Like a natural black soap that'd I already be using for my body. And with really short shaven hair, never feel the need to use soap. 2014 was the last time I bought any shampoo.

I am on the same path, but I am just 3,5 month in. I used shampo twice or so just when I feel I need it. I also use hair clay. Based what I read and saw, I think if your scalp don't have problem what, you might as well just continue.
