I have the Elliminator 3 on a sako tikka 300 win mag. This scope is right on the money with every shot. Im very pleased with this product. Well done Burris.
Very informative. I've used many scopes in my time. I recently replaced my Vortex Viper PST with a Burris Eliminator III Ballistic Laserscope. Amazing difference and worth the money.
Own 3 Burris scopes: a 5x Pistol, a 12x Varmint, and a Fullfield II 4.5x14. They are very fine, bright and clear. Have shot the variable at all ranges--appears to be no track error and the parallax extremely precise.
I am going to purchase a 4.5x14-40mm today. And mounting it on a Savage Axis in 6.5 Creedmore. Looking forward to trying the combo out at the range next weekend.
I bought an AR-536 a couple of months back. I emailed Burris customer service asking where I can buy the front & rear dust covers because in my observation, this would be the first things to wear out. Got no answer from them, not even an acknowledgement.
I have a Burris Black Diamond 8-32x that I love, Only short coming is the available Minutes of adjustment. I bought a Sightron 10-50 SIII that is also a good scope with nice adjustments. The Burris hands down is a better piece of glass, the cleaner and crisper optics out weighs the gained power in the Sightron..The sun washes out the Sightron while the Burris will show very little effect in image quality..I see Burris is making the XTR-II 8-40 with a good amount adjustment but the FFP reticule is a no go for me on my bench gun..
I agree with most of what is said here, for the non-expert. Lens coating is not the only issue, even if very important; lens thickness, number of surfaces, index of refraction of the type of refractive material. It's not the absorption but index of refraction causing Snell's Law to work, that causes issues. Number of elements to reduce chromatics, coma, abberetions of not just the lower Zernike modes, are all important to quality. In faster f/ratio optics, collimation is probably most crucial.
Burris really does make good stuff, especially for the price. And I'm pretty picky. Do what he says and look through one next to other high-dollar brands. Then look at the prices. Plus they have an excellent "forever" warranty.
honestly i sold my vortex diamond back to go with a fullfield E1 and im disappointed. the FOV is alot more narrow, almost like im looking down a paper towel role, the parallax seems to be a bit off past 150 yards, like everything is a little blurry and over all the vortex seemed brighter, i hate to sell my burris but i think i am going to, the main reason i bought it was the e1 reticle which is really nice, but i prefer a nice sharp clear picture at all ranges, its not that burris is bad as much as vortex is just as good if not better than leupold. they are incredible. i might leave the burris on for a while, it works but the turrets have literally not positive clicks to them which makes it feel cheap, if the turrets were not labeled id have no idea how to gauge my adjustments. not the high end $700 burris scopes are amazing. the XTAC is the clearest scope ive ever looked through.
Vortex isnt anywhere good as leupold. The eye relief sucks, all models white out before reaching highest magnification, reticle wires are not symmetrical. Leupold is hard to beat.
I just got my FourX 3-12x56 LR but the illuminated point in the reticle is so weak I can see it barely in bright daylight. Two batteries was tried, but no satisfying result. I had a Burris Euro Diamond before with much much brighter point suitable for battue. On the under side of the ocular bell is at the front a tiny hole and a very small screw sticking out about 1mm. Is all the described to be tolerated due to the assembly in the Phillipines or did I get a lemon?
@Banane23 Do not buy any Burris scope that features an illuminated reticle. I had a Euro Diamond 3-12X 50 with an illuminated reticle. After mounting it on a 308 Wincheser bolt-action rifle and shooting it 40 times the reticle no longer turned on. Return it to Burris to have it repaired. After getting it back it functioned fined for about a year. Then a new problem developed. The brightness setting would not function correctly. Even with new battery, no matter how high the brightness level is dialed up the reticle would barely light up and sometime will not even light up. Went to the Internet and did some reasearch and discovered Burris illuminated reticle scope are plague with these types of problem.
I have just been thru riflescope college with professor BURRIS He is telling the truth i just purchased a 4.5-14-42 fullfield 11 very bright mounted on a remington 700 bdl varmit i just dont like made in phillippines.
burris glass is low end but looks ok with all their coatings, they say "HD coating" which is misleading because quality glass is HD "High Density Glass" not "HD Coating". so dont let them fool you, it isnt HD glass.
Optics have not changed much in many years so it applies in 2020 as it did in 1970. True some people are easily conned by smoke in mirror talks that feature incorrect information because they used neon lights or rock sound in the video. I think you have tipped your hand to which group you belong.
burris bright and clear? i have the best burris scopes they make and the glass is just doable. if it didnt have the H59 reticle I would of sent it back. my Bushnell tactical and vortex have far better glass.
