As of 2023, Ukraine ranks 89th in the world in terms of the rule of law, and the number of court verdicts in cases that result in actual punishment does not exceed a few percent. The lack of the rule of law is a key problem that prevents the economy from developing and attracting foreign investors. In this video, we will explain why the judicial system in our country is so weak and whether it can be improved, using the example of punishment for fatal road accidents and other crimes. In Ukraine, courts pass only 7.6% of sentences with a real term to the number of proceedings resulting from the victim's death. This is despite the fact that 13% of such accidents are committed under the influence of alcohol or drugs. In the video, we tell you how to fix this, including the launch of the index of inevitability of punishment.
The Price of the State would like to thank Mykhailo Zhernakov for his expert advice in preparing this video.
