My concern the hospital I visited saw us for vitals, then had a consultation, then had blood work, and more blood work. Everything just had 1-2 hr intervals in between I don't understand why the just didn't finish all of the examinations one time and then get rid of me?
Was at the emergency room for 9 hours today. 1 and a half hours in the first waiting room. The next waiting room i was there for 6 hours while the entire waiting room had been completely rotated with new people twice before i got up and asked what is going on. The nurse told me soon. 3 more people go before me. I see the doctor for 15 minutes they seem annoyed i was even there and told me i should be at my primary care doctor for my symptoms. My primary care doctor is the one that told me to go to emergency room in the first place smh. Then wait 40 minutes to get discharged. What a joke. Also the doctor at the er said i should definitely get an X-ray today but the wait would be 8 more hours.
Same thing happened to me today, i called urgent care with a specific issue then they told me go to ER, only they have the technology that can diagnose you. So i go there and its like they gaslight you for listening to your own doctors.
1, the front staff is NEVER transparent about wait times. Often it’s “take a seat and they’ll call you” approach. Perhaps be more transparent about these times and set expectations about service. You are charging the patient thousands of dollars I don’t think it’s unreasonable to say “be advised wait times up to X Hours potentially” Overall your video was thorough thanks for the info.
Another cause for the long ER wait where I live is that DC is overpopulated with people and the ratio of 24 hour healthcare facilities compared to people are few. It’s just sickening.
Why, when a person goes in with a cough, the staff takes the vitals,, an then 2 hrs later wants a Covid test done? Plus, all people that come in with cold an or cough symptoms are all put in a shut in room like sardines or sit outside in the cold?
Hi Linda, that you for watching my channel and thank you for your question. The greatest thing COVID has done for the ER waiting room was expanded it beyond the confines of the building and into cars and other vehicles if one is available to you. Many times we see comments like "the patient is waiting in his/her car" which is a new occurrence as of COVID. One day I could see us handing out buzzers, like at restaurants, or sending text messages to people's phones to let them know when they have a bed assigned. Sadly if we reach the limit for how many people the ER staff can take care of the rest of the people signing in to be seen in the ER will be waiting in the waiting room, whose 4 walls are only so big. As for the 2-hour delay for the COVID test, a couple thoughts come mind. One is that the ER evaluation came back normal but COVID is still a possibility so for completion sake they order the COVID swab. Another one is that the ER provider orders a chest x-ray which comes back abnormal consistent with pneumonia or COVID pneumonia and he/she orders the COVID swab to confirm his/her suspicions and provide appropriate guidance. There are numerous other reasons for the 2-hour delay including they forgot to order it initially also being on that list of possible explanations. Hope this was helpful. Games , movies , gossiping and some reason that would make your blood boil . Patients are made to wait because some individuals are waiting for other individual or individuals . to clock in either to start their shift or from lunch . I’m not embellishing this some techs will not complete an order because there was no aide to help bring the patient . A order from Friday for Saturday morning was postponed till Monday because there was no aide to help bring the patient . It wasn’t busy they had plenty of time to take the initiative and getting done yet the order was held up . They even held up an orders because the paper order was elsewhere . I shit you not they made the patient wait several hours because of a piece of paper that could be reprinted at anytime . They even make patients wait because there’s no side to bring the patient. The tech will not lift a finger to assist to get the order completed. Why ? Because they think they are above bringing patients . You would think working at hospital people would act professional instead . I work with a bunch of immature , unprofessional, incompetent ,vindictive , uncaring adults . there are several individuals that live to ruin your day . What makes it worse he is the staff manager for our department. So this is just one of many reasons that cause delays . What I mentioned wasn’t a one time occurrence this happens several times a week if not daily . going to the HR does nothing just like going . to the supervisor from our department any question he doesn’t like or complaints are taking as a personal insult . And he will get back at you some how . Just to tell you how messed up it is one coworker was suspended with no pay . Because his name was mentioned during the process of making a complaint .
Well said, especially about staffing. You could consider adding the ancillary services, lab & radiology, also may incur staffing issues or equipment problems that will affect everything you said.

I have heard of people going to the ER and They Take an AMBULANCE to ER sp They get Seened Faster!!!! What do ERS do when people do That Take AMBULANCE to get seemed sooner they do not need AMBULANCE?????
You were responsible to call in for back up. You are dreaming that one doctor can handle it all. Call for back up!! I am sorry but I think you are clearly delusional. The way you speak, like you are talking to children gives it all away. Not impressed.
