Love the way one steering wheel is worth more than a brand new 2022 car, and when max gets pissed he just chucked it out of the car like its nothing lol.
another great video PJ. wonder how much money Williams saved not having their screen on the wheel? and 10 meters of cable was very surprising, id assumed it would just be some massive circuit boards inside!
It's a combination of boards and wiring, based on the videos I've seen. if you check the Aston Martin video in the description you'll see one opened up. As for the screen, having it on the chassis means less inertia and weight in the wheel, but it also makes it trickier for the driver to get in/out. Mercedes in one of the source articles said that the screen and electronics was the most expensive part of the materials.
I don’t think Amalgam’s model is functional, but a sim-racing version would be pretty cool. Thrustmaster do make a Ferrari wheel based on the 2020 car though.
@@PJTierney yea i bought one from myles better design a long time ago and it’s basically a one to one merc wheel and the screen and buttons are all functional so yea
@@PJTierney yea i he used to make them but he stopped he’s gonna start making them again this may i think but it wasnt a cheap wheel lol it was $800 but i honestly think it’s worth it
Glad you liked it 🙂 There's a big gap between sim racing wheels and real wheels but it's getting a lot closer these days. Fanatec for example have started making wheels that you can use both in your sim and in the real race car. That's pretty cool.
Do you remember Hamilton’s steering wheel change in a race? Can’t remember what race it was or even when, but a fault meant he had to switch it out during a pit stop. Didn’t lose much time for it aswell.
@@PJTierney Yes India! I knew it was in Asia cause it was a really hot race I remember. But yeah, they’d practiced for it before hand but still really impressive
Can you do a thing about Moto gp I really want to get into it I just want to know some more information about it and I couldn’t learn better than from you thank you for all the videos and I love them
Never seen a youtuber do a video about how to change brake bias and diff during race or quali lap.. Would be very interessting to see you do one for us.. Plz PJ ☺️
