"they have to do this to entertain" they're tiktokers. TIKTOKERS. they can make a 5 second video sitting alone in their room and get millions of views. it is literally the EASIEST JOB TO DO ALONE AT HOME.

I always love that Ben does not give a crap about how he speaks regarding influencers, and calling them out on their bullshit. It’s really cute how Cristine goes “BENNN!” Because she knows that it would be bad for her to talk shit, even though she wholeheartedly agrees with him, and they definitely talk about this stuff in private frequently.

I agree with you. I don't have the means to stay at home since I work in healthcare, but I do my best to social distance and limit my going out (aside from work and groceries). I'm immunocompromised, as are my parents. I'm scared of bringing something home. I've already lost a family member to covid. All the influencers throwing these parties really make me frustrated. They're putting themselves and those around them at risk. Sorry for the rant.

Nearly all the trending videos are people coming together to collab with other people, sometimes in large groups. There are also loads of hauls, where they've actually gone out for frivolous purchases for views.

Did anyone heard what Ariana grande said in an interview, she called out tiktokers and other people for going to restaurants and partying, at least Ariana being the responsible adult but some people still don’t listen, I agree with Christian, Ben, ari, and the rest of people who could be affected really badly by covid

It's so frustrating to watch all these young people partying. I am (thankfully) young and healthy and have been essentially taking care of my grandparents since March. They are high risk and I want to keep them safe, and seeing people putting the most vulnerable at risk is really infuriating.

I appreciate your realness through the veil of the internet and social media. The way you talk about your everyday life that is not shown in your videos and how that can change the perception of how viewers see their own lives and how not to compare to the edited version of what you show as your life. These real conversations are very refreshing

I don’t know if anyone else thinks / sees this, but I find as things reopen influencers on Instagram and RU-vid seem to have picked up and going about their day as it was before- like a couple of the ones I follow on Instagram are posting them going to their local gym and out to the mall and doing road trips around their province.... like it seems like companies are paying them to make it look like all is good. I’ve noticed this get worse as school is heading back.... but things aren’t normal, we are on a very fragile foundation of improvement and it makes me so uncomfortable to see these people pushing “normalcy” when you know it’s not.....

I know so many adults in between the ages of 20-60 who refuse to wear a mask. It makes me so angry. My family had to do a six month quarantine 10 years ago when our son was born. If he were to get this he would be no more. It just blows my mind how selfish people are, or the people who are trying to justify why this pandemic isn't as bad as the scientific community and the rest of the world says it is. You aren't magical because you haven't caught this virus and died from it, you are lucky or you may have it and are walking around asymptomatic spreading it willynilly to your loved ones and random essential services workers and their families.

I am happy right now, that Cristene and Ben are people that I look up to for such things. If I watched one of bad influencers that do things like going to parties and not wearing masks or social distancing, that would have been bad. I appreciate that Cristene is an responsible person and sets a good example for young people. She knows about things and isn’t an hypocrite like some of those influencers. I wish that online influencers were more responsible and know that so many young people take them as role model.

I know why. These rich influencers don't care about the rest of us who will suffer from it, and don't have the money for skyrocketing medical costs associated with the disease (if we can even survive it). They're selfish brats who see others as beneath them, and they don't care what happens to the rest of us.

It’s so frustrating seeing people my age (22) be so irresponsible and selfish. I go to UCSB and literally the last weekend there were a bunch of houses throwing BIG (~100 people) parties, obviously no masks and social distancing. Like why can’t people give up partying for a bit, there’s plenty of ways to socialize and see friends in a safe way
@JimAllen-Persona

sit_on_me_kWeEn_INGRID SUNY Oneonta closed up dorms before classes even started. Why? Over 200 cases. Call it coincidence, but there were parties weekends before. All these people got moved into dorms and now have to go home. The state started mass testing in the town last Wed. Let’s talk about the economic and social costs of that. My friends sister tested negative but now she loses out on the “dormimg” experience she had wanted. At least SUNY is taking some punitive steps towards students and organizations sponsoring parties. I believe the reaction you’re talking about in young people, from what I’ve read, is a “cytokine storm”. Your immune system goes into overdrive and changes the surface of the lung tissue preventing air from being absorbed. If there any med students out there, feel free to correct me if I’m wrong. They Army back in 1918 couldn’t figure out why some of the healthiest people (18 yo men) were dying at such a high rate.

im an introvert at heart so im definitely not a party person, so seeing influencers party at this time is annoying as hell. You still risk of the virus no matter what when you get in public. PLUS, when the pandemic is over and everyone is safe, they can go party all out at ANY DAY. ITS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD IF U CANT PARTY, its not a necessity. That’s what I don’t get.

I think this is a good place to talk about this, so here we go: My cousin celebrated his wedding last weekend. I live in Germany, and although the numbers are rising again, it was totally legal to do this. It was a gathering of ~50-70 people, a lot of those did not wear masks. Me and my mother went, but wore the mask the whole day, excpet when the food was served. Now please read the rest before telling me what you think and I hope you can tell me your opinion without being unkind. My cousin has started planning this wedding almost two years ago. It was scheduled for May at first and then postponed until now. If they hadn't celebrated, they would have basically just lost all the money. and it was very meaningful to them as a couple, especially because even without covid, it would have been unsure whether our grandparents could still witness this moment (and our grandparents wanted to see it very much, too) if they had waited longer. Other than family celebrations once a year at most, I NEVER see this side of my family, even though we were very close when I was a child. I was very mad when most people didn't wear a mask and was also very confused why they didn't. I would have been a lot more comfortable if they had worn them, especially because the grandparents were there and most of our family is in the risk goup (including me, my mother, my uncle- the grooms father, and my father and brother who didn't go). This has been weighing on my mind but I don't regret going, I just regret not asking why they didn't ask the guests to wear masks. Also, I am self-quarantining for 2-3 weeks to make sure I don't spread anything i could have gotten there. If it had been anything but this wedding, that they had announced almost a year before they had planned it to happen, I would not have gone.

I get you. Our whole family had a big gathering in June, while cases were low, but the virus obv didn't disappear. I went to the gathering too, simply because it had been planned for a year & I had already missed the year before because I was in hospital. None of us really wore a mask, because the requirement was lifted. We (about 25 people total) spent all of the time outside at the lake, but still, luckily all of us are completely fine.

I think you’re speaking very broadly and overall being very deductive with young people. I am 21, and I am taking this situation very seriously. Every one of my friends are also taking this very seriously. It’s unfair to say that a lot of young people are going out and partying because that frankly isn’t true. We already get a bad wrap from older generations, we don’t need this shit too. We denounce being apart of any generation that involves those people who do not take COVID seriously.

I’ve always thought that ignorant was the word that described whether someone doesn’t know any better or don’t understand. Stupid is a lack of intelligence and common sense. Which I think covers it. They are selfish as well. Stupid because they don’t seem to be smart enough to comprehend why it’s the best for them and others and selfish because they’re just doing what they want to.

People who act on selfish needs during the pandemics such as going to parties or large gatherings of more than 10 people really don’t understand the severity of their actions. I haven’t seen my grandpa and he died last month, alone because of COVID-19 restrictions. I was hurting so bad from the news and I still am angry today that because people couldn’t at least try to stay home and isolate themselves until numbers go down baffles me. The United States is a joke. Everyone has been affected by the virus in so many ways even if you are not tested positive with it. We are all in the same boat in this pandemic, but some of us are deciding to run us to rough waters by their own selfish needs.

Let me just explain my level of rage: I was turning 17 in April this year, and we were in self isolation because my father had covid and we had to live in the same 3 bedroom apartment. I couldn't even celebrate with the people I live with because my father was trying not to give us the virus and was living in a 6 square meter room for the past 15 days. A birthday party is not that important to me but this still sucked. So when I hear that idiots have a million people over for a stupid birthday party, it makes me very angry, because it reminds me how I couldn't even have the people I love the most with me.

I, myself, am immuno-compromised (I have Secondary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis). In the kitchen, I share space with my staff and 3 other people. Throughout the pandemic, I have considered these people my "bubble" and we wear masks, wash hands, sanitize areas, and keep our distance. Not one of us has had the first sign of symptoms. Until the college kiddo went out for a week for her birthday with her friends a couple weeks ago... Guess who has tested positive?! The 19 year old college kid who isn't social distancing and is instead using Air B&B to have get togethers with her friends. Yeah. Parties are an awesome idea.

Please don't attack me for this, as I'm not sure everyone will agree. Being clear, I think the parties and large gatherings are ridiculous. Not wearing a mask (by choice) is selfish. Going to the mall is so dumb. All of these things and more are so stupid to me. I also live in Austin, Texas. Normally not wearing masks isn't a problem. But, 30 minutes outside, wearing a mask is the exception, not the norm. It makes me mad. Just to make all of that clear. With that being said, I think socializing can be okay. Like I've met up with friends where we've socially distanced, sat/stood/stayed +6ft apart, always wore masks, were in our yards (so not a public place), and were outside (even in the Texas heat). I've only done this once and it massively improved my mental health. I think it's something that isn't necessarily a bad idea. Being clear, I'm only talking about this will all of those rules being strictly followed. So to people couped up this might work for you, but it might not. BUT FRIGIN PARTIES MAKE ME SO MAD. I've seen what it has done to Texas. The University of Texas at Austin is back in-person and I'm waiting for the spike from Labor Day (college kids and adults alike). SOCIAL DISTANCE. DO WHAT YOU CAN. Don't be selfish.

There's absolutely NO excuse for being out and about no matter what your situation is. We are fortunate to be in a time where we have technology to be able to entertain ourselves. How hard is to stay home with your love ones and wait till it gets better? I always think about how hard it must have being for people back in for example WWII hiding in tiny little spaces, with no internet, no cellphones, no tv, etc... Not even being able to shower on a regular basis or go to the restroom. And here we are, having every luxury we could possibly have but still going out. And even worse this famous youtubers and celebrities that have the possibility to work from home and live in big houses. I rent a small room in Brooklyn, my entire family is in a different country, I am unemployed and haven't been able to meet ends since March. And I'm still not going out if is not absolutely necessary. No birthdays, no Thanksgiving, no nothing. I spent Xmas and new years by my self inside my tiny room. People don't see beyond their noses and that's infuriating.

I do get that a lot of young people haven’t taken this as seriously as they should’ve, however, I can’t say I agree with the generalisation that it’s mainly young people. I work in a popular bar chain in the U.K., cheap booze, cheap food, and pretty good for drinking with friends. Unfortunately the main people I see breaking rules are usually the 50+ age group, they won’t wear masks, socially distance, and they seriously do not like the drink limit in some parts of the U.K. As a 19 year old living alone, I don’t leave the house unless it’s for work, because I understand that the virus is incredibly serious. All of my close friends also understand the risks so we stick to video calls. Young people are definitely a reason this is spreading, and I’m not entirely sure how different the situation is in America and Canada, but I think people are completely overlooking the older generation who are, at times , incredibly stubborn.

I’m 19, I work and go to college. I was in quarantine for about 3 months and I’m still afraid to go out to places I don’t go to normally. I live in Texas and there are still people who refuse to wear masks, social distance, or do anything to stay safe. I’m pretty I’d be ok, but my dad is at pretty high risk due to some health issues he’s had since he was a kid. I could never forgive myself if I was the one who got him sick by being a carrier. Do these influencers have anyone like that? Anyone who could be in danger? Anyone who they care about? Them partying tells me that they don’t care if their loved ones die. I’m sure they would care, but as they say actions speak louder than words and I’m tired of listening to their words bc they just repeat the same crap over and over again. I’m sick of it, fuck these people and fuck this year.

I am an extremely extroverted and tactile person so this pandemic hasn't been the easiest. But because I HAVE to go into work, I get my social interaction there. If I can handle social distancing, people should be able to too. Those people who are completely disregarding social distancing are just selfish assholes who don't give a shit about anyone else. And don't get me started on people who don't believe COVID is real...

There are 5 adults and no kids in my house. 4 of us are immunocompromised. The one who is not is in the service industry, and nearly wiped out her savings on a motel nearby when there was a potential contact scare at her restaurant. There was a two year plan in place for a 40th birthday party in July. We cancelled it. I haven't seen my brother or sister's families since March. We're trying to figure out how to Zoom Thanksgiving, since the only decent cooks in my family live in my house. It's hard. It sucks. We're paying a small fortune in grocery delivery fees. We have no regrets.

me and my friends relationship is so at risk due to this pandemic and seeing these "influencers" party and go out with their friends HURT ME. me and my friend has been SO close to breaking up cause we no longer have this physical or mental bond together and it seems like we have also changed due to covid, our moods and temper get the best of us and it could lead to a break up we will regret. we are okay right now, trying to talk and reconnect through face time BUT again, these people who go out just to hang out with their friends and "do their job" makes me so frustrated ITS NOT even funny😫🤬😡

I've been to my brother's place and to my relatives house during this pandemic, even though they aren't infected I still feel wrong for visiting them. I even went to my bf's sister gender reveal, which I was hesitant about but felt like jerk if I didn't attend. I feel guilty of socializing too much, and it's good to bring awareness to the issue.

I think the stems from a sense of entitlement and being told and shown throughout your whole RU-vid career or whatever that you are invincible and that money means you're untouchable. So even though there's a pandemic they think "oh the rules don't apply to me" plus they have that adolescent invincibility idea anyway so it cant be them who gets sick. I think a lot of social media people don't realize that just because your state or country doesn't have as strict of rules as another doesn't mean that you shouldn't also abide by the strictest rules. I've seen a lot of instagrammers not wearing masks and not social distancing because their state says they don't need to despite their state being one of the highest transmission rates. If you wanted to be a social media star so badly when you could live the high life, you should want it while not going to huge parties and wearing a mask everywhere you go.

I appreciate y’all validating people who live alone going out sparingly. I work in retail but have been working at home for 6 months and recently went to a beer garden with one friend, sat outside, and sat in my friend’s section. I feel guilty but it gave me such a morale boost. It was my first social outing since March 1st. My company mails us tests weekly so I know I’ve been in good health for months but that in no way affects my behavior. My friends at the beach or parties make me sad and I no longer can even get mad. They know. I can’t yell anymore. We can only control ourselves. my insta stories stay pretty lit tho 🔥

We live in a small house, there’s four of us, my husband, my two kids, and I. We’ve been quarantined since March. We don’t go out unless it’s necessary. To the grocery store, to work, or school (when it’s face 2 face). And I’m going completely crazy. But I’m still staying home. People with money going on elaborate vacations and having parties with 100’s of people makes me so mad. Especially when all we’re trying to do is survive.

But my parents and I are more compromise, so my family take care of us. My nephew got COVID, thankfully it was a minor issue. @@Angelaaa1015 even if you get sick of the situation, it is not right to expose your family member and hundreds of individuals bcoz you just want to party. Every body is bloody sick if this pandemic but not everybody parties. Think of the greater good rather selfishly thinking about self gratification. Health workers are dying, thousands of individuals have already died. Who will take care of the sick when the hospital shuts down bcoz of insufficient staff? Among all the illness of the world, it's not only covid. People suffering from lifestyle related diseases, pts of vehicular accidrnts need health workers. Think about it. Everything is bat crazy right now but at least you can minimize incidents of infection if you just pause and think.

I think the problem is these kids are told from the beginning that covid-19 is dangerous for babies, elders, and immuno-compromised. They're neither, so hell yeah parties. That plus the way people value their freedom and individuality can really make them uncaring and hard headed about the pandemic.

✨James Charles✨Charlie and Dixie✨ People with HUGE platforms, you never see them really wearing masks. All have attended parties. All have never really apologized or set a good example. Still haven’t. James posts videos of them all together. James continuously has done collabs through the whole year and has not done a virtual collab like other respectable YTers. Also went on vacation and didn’t quarantine like you’re supposed to in Hawaii 👍🏻👍🏻 but people still idolize him. I think he has his comments filtered or something because mine always disappear and so do other people who call him out. Absolutely ridiculous.

It's also easy to lull yourself into thinking it's someone else's problem, until the problem comes to you. For over a year, there was a small family living in the apartment next door to me and they very rarely made any noise that I could hear. Then at some point during the pandemic they moved out, and they were replaced with a bunch of silicon valley tech bro losers, who invite groups of people into their apartment constantly to have loud parties with the music practically thumping through the walls.... I am also someone who currently works 7 days a week. I wish there was a caveat to the national eviction policy that excludes disrespectful losers like my current neighbours. Having parties is not a priority, or allowing people who may be infected into a community that's trying to protect themselves. I say evict them all; I haven't got time for the selfish. 😡🤬

What's the worst is when people have no remorse for what they're doing. You see stories practically weekly now on different celebrities who are defying the orders, and the basic rules of decency, and just don't give a crap. They think it's no big deal to go out and visit with their friends that they've been seeing all along their whole life. And was even more wrong about it is effect that they are bragging on social media and posting a ton of pictures. But when fans try to call these people out they clearly try to manipulate the situation and deny what actually happened. I'm glad that you came out and acknowledge does and called people out for doing this. It is one thing to still be word gay and posting videos and having your immediate people around you. But it's a whole different thing to be actively going out to the mall and out for ice cream and out with your friends everyday just because you are bored. I just wonder what it's going to take to get people to wake up and realize that what they're doing is a part of the problem, and not part of the solution.
