With the increasing attention players receive as global celebrities, having control over their public image has become increasingly important. But has it gone too far? This video essay breaks down two components of contemporary football PR: crafting a PC image and crisis management. Using Manchester United player Marcus Rashford as a case study, I explore how relying on PR has become more complicated in the modern-day as audiences have become more privy to it.
