I think they like Malaysia because most Malaysian Chinese can speak mandarin. As for Hong Kongers, most people can also speak Cantonese whereas Thailand, Indonesia or Vietnam Chinese have already lost their Chinese roots . Malaysia has basically the most Chinese outside of China.
Correction. There are more Indonesian Chinese than M'sian Chinese. Many M'sian Chinese have emigrated to S'pore, Australia, NZ, US UK ands Canada. - almost 3 million of them

And the Chinese in Southeast Asia have nothing to do with Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau. Chinese in Malaysia, Southeast Asia from Guangzhou, Chaozhou, Fujian

We must careful with coming chinese from mainland china, malaysia must put priorities to the local malaysians,if the chinese from china just come as a tourists it is good for malaysia. But if some of them illegally permanent in malaysia they can become problems for malaysia,do not let it like the migrant to Ukraine, when their numbers are more than the local like in Ukraine, then that state can control by them due to local become minority.
Traditionally, we hv language and culture here protected from changes in the mainland. So many chinese from china are soooooo surprised that ancient practices are preserved here compared to Indonesia or Thailand which have a larger population of overseas chinese.
what surprising me the most is, thai is also a buddhist country while Malaysia is a Muslim country yet the Chinese here have preserved their ancient practices.

Malaysia is a country that is very much raced based in politics and the ruling party would never allow the Chinese to dominate and succeed too highly in anything. And yes, this even applies to Chinese Malaysians. One of the major reason Singapore was expelled from Malaysia was that Singapore “had too many people of chinese decent for Malaysia”.
You're 100% wrong, the main reason singapore got kicked out was bcos LKY was useless and he didn't understand Malaya. If Malaysia was racist, there won't be 7+ mil - 8 mil ethnic chinese in malaysia today living harmoniously with the rest and sg would not even be invited to join. Grow up kid.

Please don't mislead people, they are not immigrating, they just apply special visa called Mm2H to Malaysia. They can stay longer period over here and also their children, parents. They are not allowed to work here and do business here but they can enjoy other things like we Malaysians such as open a bank account, have children studying here and etc. They are not Malaysians and even PR. So your title is totally wrong.

Bro, I don't see that as a problem but, we must not be too dependent on it. For example, even if our tourism boom, we must focus on long term economy like industries, technology etc. Tourism must not exceed more than 15% of our economic GDP.
The latest China arrivals to Malaysia usually settle down in groups. A group usually comprises 50 people or more and they pool their money resources together to buy a spacious bungalow outside KL or outskirts Selangor. Gradually, colonies of China settlements expand with rapid breeding and more and more arrivals.
Moving to Malaysia is Fake News. Free visa mean need no Visa but just for one month and not settle down in Malaysia. Getting citizenship to stay in Malaysia is almost impossible for non Muslim but Malaysian are definitely very nice to tourists and a very safe tourist destination. The rest can be considered as true.
Getting Malaysian citizenship is almost impossible for ALL foreigners, no special case for race or religions.🫡 UNLESS a foreigner being naturalised or had bribed some very high-ranking officers😂
Mainlanders are not moving to Malaysia la, they prefer Singapore. The ones that are here are mainly mistresses living around the Sunway Velocity Cheras area.
I am from NZ and have lived and worked in both China and in Malaysia. I have been married to Malaysian Chinese. Be warned the Malaysian government is only interested in Chinese money and not the Chinese people. Malaysia is politically corrupt and systemically anti-Chinese in their policies to push ahead the Malay Islamic people group. All the Malaysian affirmative action policies tend to discriminate against Chinese and Indian people groups. Many Malaysian Chinese are forced to study and live away from Malaysia because of this. I do love Malaysia and spend one or two months each year in Penang ( my happy place ). Malaysia should be as successful as Singapore, but it is not because of the anti-Chinese political bias. Malaysia for Chinese people is like 'The Little China downsouth'. It has all different types of chinese people from different dialects, cultures, practices and food in one place. I'm a Hokkien (Fujian), and my neighbour is a Cantonese lol.
It is inaccurate to claim that Mandarin is spoken widely in Malaysia, rather the dialects like Hokkien, 😅Teochew and Cantonese are by the citizens. Those Chinese who went to Chinese vernacular schools do so in Mandarin, though the script is common to all Chinese.
Not sure if you are currently leaving in Malaysia, nor you speak Chinese. The new generation of Malaysian Chinese are mostly speak Mandarin regardless of their family dialects spoken.
mostly because of economic reason, actually Malaysian cost of living is lower than Singapore. but mostly chinese from china want to move to Singapore, but because cost of living high in Singapore, they choose to stay in place near the Singapore border, like in Johor Bahru where you can accross border to Singapore using Causeway. Thats why Johor want to developed Forest City, to avoid Johor Bahru real estate price become much more expensive for Malaysian. Its not Malaysia who welcoming people from china to stay in Malaysia, it is Singapore who attract chinese from China to stay singapore and it effected Malaysia.
There are also 7 reasons why Malaysian Chinese are HUGE different people from mainland China people. So overall Malaysian are NOT pleas3 to see dramatic changes of more mainland people to flux in.
