This is an excellent video. Unfortunately it didn't solve my issue. I'm not sure why but all my subfolders in outlook are hidden, despite IMAP being enabled.

Very timely video, seeing Mail for Windows updated to Outlook New, which I don't want to use as it is loading my work email. I don't want to see my work emails on my days off this is why I prefer to use 2 different apps. Another free apps work well with Gmail for laptops.

Hi Leo, love your presentations as always...the Outlook icon you clicked on the from the Start menu, is that the full blown desktop app or the web-based version of Outlook, or do they work similarly ?

I took the plunge and changed to New Outlook. But..... Why cant I open old saved .eml files in new outlook? I cant 'save as' to store current emails either. Enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work

I am either confused or lost track within the presentation. Is your example using a POP account for "show in imap"? (edit) at six min twenty-one seconds into vid, answer seems to be enable IMAP in GMail settings.

Hello Leo, Thanks for another educational video. However, I have another problem. This concerns the synchronization between Outlook and Gmail. It sometimes happens when I move a message from Inbox to another folder in Outlook that the email is no longer visible in Outlook, but is visible in Gmail. Thanks in advance for your answer. Greetings from Belgium

Thank you for creating this video, Leo. Unfortunately, this solution does NOT work for my situation. My gmail automatically defaults to “show in iMAP” for every folder I’ve created in Outlook 365--i.e., those folders automatically appear as labels in gmail with “show in iMAP” enabled. So with computer 1 I’ve never had a problem seeing both the folders in Outlook and the labels in gmail. This “invisible folders” problem is only occurring on the 2nd computer I use (I toggle back & forth between computers 1 & 2), on which I need to be able to see and access those same folders/labels to keep them in sync. FYI: I’ve only ever used iMAP on these 2 computers. Any suggestions for this set up?

It is confusing that Gmail calls them labels while other emails such as Outlook/Hotmail and Yahoo call them folders

It's now how they call them, it's how they work. What Gmail calls labels and Outlook call folders, are technically different concepts, hence why the different names.

This is the reason I use other email providers and never Gmail. They don't have folders, they don't have aliases, basically worthless product that uses your emails to train their AI

"Worthless product" that something like 1/4 of all email users use. Gotcha. Wondering how they can possibly use this "worthless" product.

@@askleonotenboom Well I can't be critical of Gmail on Google's RU-vid due to filtering of comments so suffice is to say that from my experience most Gmail users that I know of live in a tech bubble. I'm from India so here we've even bigger market share of Google products than US. And for many the primary device of accessing the internet is Android mobile phone and in most cases have no idea anything other than Gmail exist. If you use VPN and access RU-vid India you'll find videos explaining the difference between Gmail and Email. That's the power of being default and the economic / psychological phenomenon of Bandwagon effect. Anyway, my comment of being totally worthless was perhaps too harsh, given it's the medium of email for so many people but Gmail was great and all back when it launched in 2004 or 2005; then it was revolutionary but not anymore.
