@@TennCom HEAD Geo Speed Adult Tennis Racket - Pre-Strung Light Balance 27.5 Inch Racquet on USA Amazon for $40 just racquet alone formerly $60 when new model. Yes, racquet is it a Titanium Alloy Head model and not Carbon Fiber but is an All-One-Piece Metal no head bridge of plastic so is good enough for a low-end pro/high advanced level. One can even spend a bit more on a few different options to have a bag or other similar but best option comes with head basic white grip for $43 USA and still have room for restringing if using all same string on entire racquet, however I would go stock just racquet as I like for replacement grip cloth fabric athletic/hockey tape usually in black unless racquet is in m mostly white and stock grip is not black/dark color. Nice part is, Head model is an adult men's/larger women's 4 & 3/4 inch grip and not an older kid/young teen 4 to 4 & 1/4 inch grip like I like or some of Women's specific/cheap models having smaller 4 & 1/2 inch grip. I do not like all one piece racquets and like Jr ones using new 2000 on up style of plastic for bridge on head (vibration dampening) in a midsized/large /95--100 4 & 1/4 grip as I am smaller 105--110 pounds 5 foot 2 inch and in glove size boys XL/XXL & Kids XXL, Men's/Unisex XS, and women's Small. Currently using a Kennex Power Ace Pro Power Contour in red and blue as black and yellow version is a tad stiff. In 2023 got another 2 o same raquet in same color of same Pro Kennex model for backup on e-bay using stock stringing as is stiff . On all 3 racquets I used for over grip on failing stock vinyl grip, black athletic cloth fabric sports/hockey tape in ae single layer only going over firs wrap before doing long spiral wraps done tightly and using Loctite super Glue Ultra Gel Control on end in just enough to keep grip from coming undone. Somehow original 2000's Pro Kennex model racquet I bought new in 2000's had been given a matt poly spray paint on it to keep paint from pealing as was a big issue at the time I did said spray paint. Poly over was in 2023 when fixing grips and putting in a case, sticky but I did a wash on racquet using rubbing alcohol and original racquet still had poly overcoat but was no longer sticky just grippy becuse of being matt.
I just paid $12 for a single 12 inch sub at Subway. The idea that you can get a decent tennis racquet for $50 is pretty unrealistic. It’s 2024, not 1994. There are some good deals on new racquets out there, though. Just wait for a new model to come out and then buy the previous model on clearance while they still have some in stock. Tennis Warehouse actually has brand new 3rd Gen Pure Strikes listed at $119 right now.
Exactly. That is the best way to get an a A brand top of the line racquet at a very decent price AND your new racquet will actually be NEW ! I got my 2017 Pure Drive at TW in 2021/22 and paid about 120 EUROS for it which was almost half off of the regular actual retail price. Same with a Technifibre IGA (same price), and my (2nd) 2021 HEAD Prestige Tour, which I bought November 2023 after the 2023 line was released, for 140 EUROS (again: half off). There's even better deals out there, just check TW (and others) on a regular base.
The x100 japan blue purple one I have is my main. I have a little lead at 12 and some blutac in the handle. It's at about 325gr 328sw 4/5 hl. It is amazing with twaron in it. The new ones have foam too. I have played some of my best tennis with it. Amazing for backhand, the twist magic works just directs it deep. Comfort for 66ra is top notch.my slices are low and dirty, took about 2 weeks to perfect. Serves are bombs! To me it feels like an apd2013 and an ezone ai98 had a big ass baby bastard child. The paint on these JP versions are unreal and durable. After listening to the head prince designer he mentioned control was great and blogs indicated the same, and I must say to me the control is similar to prince 100p.
This idea sounds familiar... 😂 Love to see you guys enjoyed it. Some rackets nowadays are upwards of $200+, and that is not even strung. Not taking into account poor quality control, which can mean poor racket matching. Extra expenses into strings, overgrips, and weighted tapes really make tennis very unfriendly to people looking to make a commitment to it. Most would rather give up to the sight of the prices nowadays. The coolest part about buying a vintage racket is perhaps finding that one racket that really feels perfect. Kind of assures you as to why the pros stick to really old models like Rafa's 2004 Aero, Novak's Liquidmetal, and Fed before getting the RF97, using the 85 and 90. Hopefully, this becomes a series, and Simon actually buys a racket next time. The beef from the one-handed backhand video is still unsettled... 🗿
I find the cost for top rackets absolutely reasonable. You can easily pay $400 for a hockey stick and they break all the time. Top rackets were all over $200 in the 1980s and 1990s so the cost really has not changed much. You can easily find a top end racket on sale for under $150 US.
There are a lot of those kind of rackets at low prices thanks to all those people who fall into the marketing schemes of rackets companies and buy every new release. A friend needed a beginner racket and I found him a Head Insctinct 2017 that costed 60 usd including new poly strings and overgrip
And if you get last year's model and never touch the current one, you won't suffer the agony of determining which one feels marginally better to you with string X but not string Y. 😅
50 us/euro is possible to get a decent 2nd hand racket, but people still have to realise that they have to string it and maybe put a new replacement grip on it. Then your close to 90 us/euro. Some shots sell old stock rackets for about 100 including a new string job. The current prices way above 200 is ridiculous, but between 100 and 200 is "normal" and the are lots of options in that range including last year's rackets
I bought a babolat aero jr 26. I’m a grown man. But it’s my first racket and it cost 65€. The normal version costs like 200€. And the only difference I could see and research was that it literally was an inch shorter and was 18x17 and not 18x18 or sth like that. So maybe buying a jr racket is an option for yall
Maybe Artengo has more affordable options while still keeping some playability, but there’s no magic. If your goal is to just push the ball over the net you don’t need a review to make up your mind on a particular racket. Anyone will do. The purpose of the reviews is to give insight to those who want to develop their game, according to their skills, physical features and playing style.
Used racket market in Japan. I got a 2010 aero storm tour barely used shipped (domestic in Tokyo but still) for $18. Helps that the yen is getting destroyed. 2010 Aero pro drive for $50, 2015 head speed mp for $25. I think this is the only way to actually get a top tier racket within budget.
Honestly, besides used rackets, i think prince even brand new is the best answer for bang for your buck. Amazing quantity for a least a little less than the rest of the market. Other than that brand new, maybe mid level head rackets after the new model comes out?
yeah good point! Head even still produces some old stuff from the XT gen which you can almost always get around $100 which is pretty top drawer for budget
I got an Angell TC95 V3 16x19 for 53€ (35€ the racket and 18€ shipping). Condition 9/10. Super cheap rackets can be found in Europe. 200€+ for a racket? No way! You can find 2021 rackets for 100€ or less.
500 bucks for two racquets and there you go? Strings, shoes, balls, court fee or membership, that will add up as well. Tennis has never been an easy access or low budget sport, never will. But if you can cut the cost, then why not?
As an ancient fossil, I was urged to try pickleball. Of course this makes one crave the real game I enjoyed in my youth . I need to find a couple of beaters so me and my gf can go out and experience some sports injuries. There's got to be a beginners racket or a box store beater that isn't a total nightmare. I do respect your snobbery. We need elitism in all things to maintain excellence but I ain't tryna win the club tourney. We're gonna go the public court with two cans of balls and get in some cardio from chasing wide shots. Sheesh. Appreciate you guys though. Nice vid. Keep up the smart assery. P.S. I'd probaby rather use a Walmart racket than deal with Facebook freaks.
How cool is that TwistPower😅never seen that racquet before…My hitting partner spends half the day everyday on FB marketplace looking for bargains he can make some money on and often finds a steal…last week he picked up an older Pure Drive, Youtek Head Instict, Prince Air Blade, Junior Radical and a bucket of balls all in decent condition for a total of $50Australian😂…he sold the Pure Drive the very next day for $140😅I might start looking🤣…Can I asked how that C5 Corvette racquet goes on single handed backhands?😂
Nothing finalized with Luqi yet. Doing some more long-term testing with the different colours to make sure its a product I want to regularly recommend before sharing affiliate links.
And here comes the suggestions from the worlds tennis neee ahem Entusiasts............. Try the: Head Ti. Radical Elite Head Ti. Instinct Comp Head Speed Graphene XT goes for 99 $
Sory guys, this wasa very shit vid. 1st there are decent rackets out there. Artengo TR990 £90(fantastic racket), Pros Pro blackout and pro-lethal are £50 come right to mind. Add some customisation and matching and your golden. So yes there are options out there. However, you didnt research why rackets are so expencive and why they went up during covid because of fuel and delivery costs, and now they have continued to rise despite those 2 factors returning to pre covid levels. Yep, the companies worked out that as long as we keep paying they will leave them at the higher price to make the shareholders happy. But if your a juior and looking to get 3 frames to compete and your on a lower level finacial income, go play a cheaper sport. Seriously. No racket should cost more than £120. Zero.
Sorry to disappoint you with our shit vid. If you couldn't tell, we made this video for fun. But perhaps the intro was too serious and mislead you. We did show the Artengo TR990 but its not even close to within budget. Not everyone can drop £90, nor should they when there are used options, which offer both a cheaper but also a more environmentally friendly option. Pro's Pro options look interesting but not available to us in North America. Telling people in a tough financial situation to go play a cheaper sport is a disappointing attitude. There are better ways to move forward than just giving up.
