You shouldn’t be labeled as that if you have a valid criticism with the government. Every person I talk to when they criticize Israel goes back to the Jesuits as if they were all complying with Israel’s government.
The problem is that most criticism of Israel IS actually just antisemitic. The reason Israel calls people out so much is because a barrage of people hate them simply for existing, not just because they "can't take constructive criticism." Israel is not a perfect nation, far from it, but it is very hard to hear how to improve from outsiders when everything is caught in a noise of "all Jews are greedy, evil, crafty coin grabbers" and "Tel-Aviv should be bombed."
You could say that about any other race out there when somebody criticizes their behavior. The people of that group will just say, "You are just racist towards me blah blah blah"...
So far it seems like just because they can. Because they don't recognize Christ as the savior can be enough to get the idiots going, they can join in on the hate train fun. It's because Anti-Semitic has taken on a social context. In other words, it's like the term African-American. You can be a black person in the US who's NEVER set foot in Africa, yet can legitimately call yourself an African-American. In contrast, someone who's white who's born to American parents in Africa CANNOT legitimately call himself African-American solely because he's white. Why? Because the term no longer literally means what it used to mean, it's taken on a social context.

There are only about 14 million Jews in the world yet by any measure they are an extraordinary race of people who excel in every aspect and level of achievement in all aspects in life from politics to banking and from science to the arts. Antisemeticism dates back to ancient times and that Hitler and Germany exterminated 6 Million Jews (with the agreement and aid from most European countries) is something that I find extremely difficult to get my head around.
This term started because Jews were the only immigrants in the UK for many years and they were considered to be of Semitic origin. Although many Jews are of Semitic origin , many are not. In Modern English Anti-Semitic means anti Jew. Just as we say black and white people , when they are not strictly black or white.

But the word antisemitic specifically means hatred towards jews. You can play with semantics all you want but that doesn't mean antisemitism isn't real. People who try to say they "can't be antisemitic because they are semites" are always Jew haters.
Anti semitism is not just restricted to the Jews it actually means any type of discrimination against the both Jews and Arabs. However!!!! I’ll never understand antisemitism, because the Jewish community ALWAYS had a positive contribution to the country where they lived in. Think of all the important artists and scientists in Europe. The Jewish community never complained and always took care of herself! And what I love most about Jewish people is their sense of humor. If you believe in true egalitarianism and justice, you would be anti-semitic by definition, since you cannot favor one group over another. Seeing as how jews are very tribalistic and practice semitism towards each other, anti-semitism is the natural response from others. Thus, semitism causes anti-semitism.

Israeli is an interesting point of contention. Thousands of years ago, the Hebrew tribes which took Israel from the native Israelites, kinda kept to the precedent of right to conquest. You win by the sword, you lose by the sword, and the Hebrews ended up losing Israel. Obviously that doesn’t justify antisemitism in the slightest sense, but it also puts their original claim to Israel on shaky ground. Many peoples have called the region of Israel home, with many different motives, and many different claims to ownership. Should countries really be formed around these ethnic nations and religious groups, or instead around democratic values? Which will create a more just, stable and sustainable society which works to push the progress of all people? The Israeli policies about the Gaza Strip make it clear that a nation of people can be horribly oppressed and murdered in one generation, and then may proceed to horribly oppress another nation of people in the next. I guess my point is no one is above scrutiny, because we are all human, which is why democracy is more important than nationalism.

And Israel really does a bad job in representing Jews,especially when the rise of the far right has now really fueled anti semitism really badly Just look at any conspiracy theory-most if not all have anti semitism as a crucial point. Palestine and Israel should both exist together since both communities call it their home and Jerusalem is a very important place for both of them and the Christians. Deliberately avoiding the question you yourself posed, leads me to believe there may be valid reasons for hating Jews but you don't want to express them. Apart from doing their best to copy Nazis by their behavior in Palestine, I cant' think of any other reasons. I am not saying that the following impressions are correct but no-one is coming up with a reason why they disagree. Most people would try to protect their country in the best way they can, even if they don't have the enormous wealth and weapons of their aggressor. Most Jews believe Palestine belongs to them so that gives them the right to invade it and kill the people living there who have nowhere else to go. The Nazis had bigger and better weapons and believed Austria and Poland belonged to them. The fact that Jews suffered under the Nazis is undeniable. Do Jews think this gives them the right to copy what was done to them? A great deal of what you say is fair and makes a lot of sense and I am now a lot wiser than I was before about recent history You deserve a response and I am far from certain if I am able to come anywhere near being able to express myself so eloquently.. Before I go on, please allow me to correct something you maybe unaware of. The expression is not “escape goat” but “scapegoat” . One or two of the reasons for the hatred of Jews that you brush off, may very well contribute more than you think, whether or not you think they are fair. Have you asked why the Nazi party was so successful in portraying the Jews as money grabbing and evil? As you say, they successfully earned money that they kept within their gang rather than spending it in the general community. They were ( and probably still are) happy to sell things to outsiders but only buy things from other Jews. This is not dissimilar to trade imbalances we see today between nations. America is unhappy with China for that very same reason. It would have been very hard for the Nazi propaganda to have been so successful if people did not already resent what they could see happening. Not much has changed since the war. Jews look after themselves, often at the expense of others. I am not saying that Jews are not allowed to do this. I merely offer this as a reason some people don’t like them. Stories regularly appear in the press about Jews building settlements on land that does not belong to them and then defending them with a force that Palestinians could not hope to match. This reinforces the impression that Jews are a gang of thieving thugs. Jews control the media which makes it a lot easier to silence dissent. Every time, someone dares to suggest that not everything Jews do is necessarily good, there is always a retraction and apology the next day. To the lay person, this may give the impression that someone in a powerful position has threatened to destroy that persons livelihood, or even worse. Rightly or wrongly people are afraid of Jews, just like they are afraid of the mafia. People do not like the mafia because they make people lives a misery and spread fear, and fear breeds hatred. Is it unreasonable to liken Jews to the mafia? The mafia takes over any property they want , by force if necessary. That is what Jews do. The mafia looks after its own and woe betide anyone who dares to get in their way. That is what Jews do. If Jews stopped behaving like Jews, there would be no reason to hate them, but so long as it profits them to carry on the way they do, they are unlikely to see any reason to change. I do not expect for one second that what I have had to say comes close to explaining why people hate Jews, but it is all I can come up with at the moment. On a final note I have a small anecdote that does not explain anything at all but happens to be true and I have never understood what happened. I once had a good Jewish friend in Australia. A group of us were enjoying an evening together in his flat when a woman knocked on the door selling something. He invited her in to join us and all was happy and convivial for a while. Then someone asked if she was making much money selling that stuff. She replied “I don’t earn much at all because my boss is really Jewish”. Boy did the atmosphere change. In a menacing voice, my friend calmly said “Not all Jews are like that. See I gave you something to eat and drink and welcomed you into my home.” He then warned her to be careful what she said in future and threatened to tell her boss. I do not believe that her remark was intended to be malicious in any way. I was surprised that my friend was so quick to make her feel small but perhaps there is something about the Jewish culture that explains it. That took a lot more effort than I expected :-)
Jews are not a monolithic group. Trump’s approval rating was 70% among Israelis, but only 20% among American Jews. Israel is the Jewish state but some of the biggest critics of Israel have been Jews: Noam Chomsky, Steven Spielberg, Bernie Sanders. Karl Marx was a Jew, but so was Milton Friedman.
My guess is, is that some individuals are just abusive in general, and they are going to give it to somebody, Jewish or not, but there are others who may have had an unfavorable encounter with one who declares him/herself Jewish, and have never reconciled it within his own soul, chomps on the bit, and like a rabid animal, never lets it go. I have had to talk myself off of the ledge when I noticed that I was about to adopt a prejudice also. I needed to remind myself that the person that had treated me without value was just one person among their nationality. I wanted to lash out in a stereotypical fashion. I was wronged, but luckily. with some thought, and a bit of reflection, I knew.....that I was 'better' than that!! Also, I have been discriminated against by those who have other unsettling feelings towards me, personal feelings towards me as a human, having nothing to do with being Jewish or not, but it is just tossed up in the air, like a sordid bag of tricks, and I totally resent them, for not only have they disparaged a part of who I am, but that they have 'also' therefore, disparaged a part of those that I love. The State of Israel, also a Jewish organization, then uses that money to kill Palestinians and expand its borders through the settlement program. The word Anti-Semetism wasn't something the Jews brought up. It was French concept. The Western Church criticism of the Eastern Churches like the Coptics, Syriacs and Assyrians could be argued as a form of Christian against Christian anti-semetism. Being afraid of Muslim Arab refugees from Syria can be a form of anti-semetism.
I have always said they would find someone else to hate probably the Catholics. Personally I have struggle with my Jewish identity I was raised Catholic but have always identified with the Jewish faith. As Israel is concerned I agree it is complex.

Ishmael, the grandfather of the Arabs. And Ishmael had a daughter named Nesma, the wife of Esau, and the grandmother of the European Romans. After all these family ties and blood, even Islamophobia and hatred of Arabs should be considered anti-Semitism.
It's crazy to me that you think these 12 tribes are the origin for the rest of the world, despite the rest of the world having stories of their origins at times when they say these people went out to create these other societies.

I am knowledgeable about the current & history of Anti-Semitism, BUT I can't figure out WHY & HOW this group bothers ANYONE in any way that such hatred keeps continuing. (except the Muslims because of israel/ Palestinians )
It had something to do with the personal lives of these anti-semites as well, many anti-semities became anti-semit due to having alot of trouble in life, weather from bad luck or from their own Irresponsibility that instead of trying to move on and continue on the game, they wanted a scalegoat to make themselves feel better about their failure of a life.
Antisemitism is a long-winded barrage of hate against Jews that has been existent since ancient times, back since they were blamed for killing Jesus (or at least majorly causing the sins that he died for), and then shamed for not following Jesus' "correct" teachings (even though Jesus himself was a Jew). Jews and Arabs have always been in a state of tension via differing cultural/religious beliefs and fights over land, so that mutual dislike makes sense, and is born less out of manipulation and scapegoating and more out of wars and general distaste. However, it was Hitler (and a handful of other antisemitic European government officials before him) that perpetrated the Semitic people as the MAIN reason as to why Germany was falling under corruption (they lost WW1, and the treaty of versailles essentially robbed them of everything they had, and didn't have). Because Jews were not of Aryan race (blue eyes and blonde hair) they were deemed a lesser people, and easy to target (Eugenics played a HUGE role in Hitler's movement). Fingers were pointed at Jews (first by people like Hitler, eventually the entire Nazi party). who ran successful businesses and who gained a far amount of wealth for "running capitalism, banks, and business" which basically created this idea that all Jews are greedy, corrupt coin-grabbers. Some of the first hate crimes against Jews under Nazi Germany were graffitiing and destroying property of Jewish-ran businesses. Germans had REALLY bought into this idea that the Jews were the reasoning that so much was going wrong. remember that this is all via Nazi propaganda; basically everything was made up by said "angry mustache man" to get his people to believe him, feel an emotional response to what he preached, get on the side of the Nazi party, and help the war effort against Britain, France, and the US. The Jews, at the bottom line, were an easy scape goat that Hitler puppeteered in order to manipulate the German population into the hatred and ethnic cleansing of what they thought was an evil, lesser group of people. These sentiments unfortunately have stayed prominent throughout all world history leading up to current day politics and situations. A lot of this is born out of lack of education, or mis-education, which builds into ignorance, and eventually collective hatred for an entire minority of people. It is important to remember that the Holocaust DID happen. Go to any Holocaust museum, any primary source including journals, pictures taken, or literal gravestone memorials that were made after WW2 was over. Read or watch anything about the Hindenburg Trials. It is also important to remember that Zionism does not equal Judaism: One can be a Jew, but not have any connection to Israel, Israeli politics are not existent in EVERY Jewish life. It is also important to remember that Jews do not run all businesses or banks, and are not in control of the US. There are many rich Jews, yes, but there are also many poor ones. The people pointing out rich Jews or complaining about there being "so many Jewish celebrities and CEOs" are usually just ignorant, white nationalists who are using the former excuses for hate, which usually translates to violence. Essentially all Holocaust Denial and Jewish Hatred comes from American ignorance and white nationalism. Look at Germany, they completely accept what happened and took steps to help prevent future atrocities from occurring. It is that sense of hate and extremism that politically charged media has readopted in places like America in order to resurrect scapegoats, such as Jews, in order to continue having a reason to hate, attack, and complain. These people are almost all American far right extremists, I mean it just blows my mind how ignorant and hateful people can be. But yeah, Jews tend to be pretty peaceful and benign people, I have known a lot of Jews who have no connection to Israel and they all are pretty adamant on being against Zionism, instead they just really want world peace and for the hatred against them to stop.

Clearly you have no knowledge of history or of the identity of Jewish people. Go read online about where we came from. We are Middle Eastern, even in Europe the Middle East and North Africa we weren't concidered "White" by white Europeans and Arabs. Israel has been our homeland since 4000 years ago

I started disliking Jews when I learned what jews think about gentiles and how you Jews hurt us gentiles. Suck the milk of the nations/gentiles, etc. I learned the Communism was led by Jews, etc. So I started wishing you would leave us alone. The origins of antisemitism go all the way back to the Old Testament. It started with the story of Abraham and Sarah lying to Pharaoh about Sarah’s status as an ‘unmarried woman’ in order to be 'treated well' and gain access to the highest levels of power in Egypt. Pharaoh and his harem come down with a "mysterious illness" (venerial disease) and Pharaoh confront Abraham about his trickery and kicks Abraham and his followers out of Egypt. So there you have, Pharaoh kicking Abraham out of Egypt was the first act of antisemitism.

Fear, angst, phobia, anxiety creates painfully false sense that certain people try to harm you. So sad, but paranoia is nowadays world religion and more and more people join unknowingly. Anti-semitism is just another form of rejection, false projection of an imagined enemy and as they say you know the best defense is a good offense. Why do they need enemy? Cause they feel useless, lost, total waste, a disaster, or they hate to see others winning or live in harmony or simply a normal life. Lots of people suffer mental health issues, their only hope to find someone to hate to justify their overwhelming feelings. Or they could turn to doctor, but it's too expensive and can't help anyway. No one is antisemitic. If so, that would imply the dislike of many different cultures represented by the word Semitic. Anti jewish would definitely be more accurate to use if the remark specifically refers to the jews in particular. So stop misusing the word Semite and associate it only to jews. Also the Semitic Hebrews are ancient and have nothing to do with modern jews.
Both are still Jewish though. The idea of Judaism as just a religion is fairly modern, but even those who chose to convert, even of they are not considered Jews by blood, are still Jewish
