3 trips to tokyo, 1 to osaka, and 1 to shirahama... And photographically and artistically its just so different and so clean. But atmosphere wise... Ive never felt, on a holiday, that just existing somewhere could be so pleasant. Everything i need is just there. Everywhere i want is easily accessed and everyones so helpful. Maybe thats why street photos are so good, you can spend all day wandering and shooting and your never more than a street away from vending machines or public toilets and theyre all pristine. Youre never worrying about where your next loo break is because you know the toilets are horrific nearby.

Really hope I get to Japan one day. Not just for photography, but just visiting some cool places from my favorite Murakami novels, cook spaghetti in a small flat while listening to jazz would be neat too haha

My partner and I love Japan and Japanese culture (for many different reasons), and we had a trip booked for cherry blossoms in 2020 but you can imagine how that turned out lol. But we are finally planning a trip again for 2025 and I'm beyond excited! So much to look forward to, in both traveling to a few cities and also rural areas, but what I'm most looking forward to (other than the food lol) is to just wander the streets and get lost in the urban landscape and take photos. I have really enjoyed your Japan/Asia series so far and hope you had a wonderful trip!

Problem is, most go to the same places and almost 90%+ are taking the same or too similar typa shot. If you put work from 10 different artists up you won't be able to tell much difference.

I think the great transportation system is another factor as it's so easy to get around. I was there for 3 weeks in 2021 and rarely a day goes by where I don't think about that great city and country.

I was just in Japan in march and it was the trip that inspired me to get back into photography and I bought myself a fujifilm camera. I agree, whatever you want to find, it’s there! So respectful. Easy to get around. So clean. And just absolutely crazy how quiet and peaceful a temple is and a couple blocks down there so many people. I loved it and definitely want to go back. Ps: Kyoto is definitely worth visiting as well. Idk from a street photographers perspective, but in general, so beautiful.

the last 3 weeks ive seen so many tokyo uploads from photographers i follow, which is funny because i also went a month ago and have stacks of photos to edit. so on one hand its kind of annoying because you want to see these places for the first time without getting spoiled, but on the other hand you might find out some tips or hidden places that arent the typical tiktok or instagram spam.
