Had an 87 Silhouette in the early 2000's. Bought a wrecked VL BT1 Turbo, put that motor in front of the '31 manual & had Rajab Brothers work their magic. Sadly, the '31 Silhouette was far too rusted in the A pillars & sills for NSW rego; bought a gold coloured wagon for $300 from a wrecker, moved 98% of everything from sedan to wagon, added the 1990 front end (could still buy NOS back then, at the Nissan dealer in Inverell, NSW) and had fun. Was a great cruiser. Edit: Still have the Nissan Owners Club keyring, the Silhouette badge from the steering wheel and the Silhouette VIN plate somewhere in the shed!
They were never underrated when i was kicking around, they were entry level top of the shopping list, That red over silver one is the best ive seen, beautiful!!
I love the r31 skylines.. ive owned 2 of them, a TI which I put white s2 NSVD r31 GTS wheels and i also owned the red R31 skyline NSVD silhouette GTS.. best cars ever imo
The Aussie R31's are awesome cars. I love my GTS2 gives me a massive grin every time I get in it. I remember meeting you a couple months ago at a random meet at thats alotta donuts and thought your R31 was sweet. Very random your channel popped up in my RU-vid feed.

The r31 is what brought me to this channel originally a few years ago. 😍 I think during the refresh of "washing machine" 😁 Defo one of the most un-loved/unknown skylines.. hopefully it stays that way until I can get my hands on one 🤣
We never got R31 skylines in the uk and ever since i saw one of your videos i have been wanting to come to australia to find one to import, definitely one of my dream cars!
Underrated because they are first gen of skyline, and because as soon as the 32 came out, with what that could do, people forgot the 31 even existed, still great cars bro

Just out of interest, does that mean you might put a manual gear shifter stock Gearknob/AU Fairmont? My AU Ford is still going well too touch wood. My, campervan isn't going to be ready this week, probably not until the end of the year. But it is getting closer.

Would really love a 31. the coupes are one of the cars i would kill to find cheap. hell. i still look at HR31. the best thing imo. are the rear tail lights. they look soo fuckin good at night. in the future. would love a ti. Still think that they should have made a gts turbo or a Silhouette turbo. they had the engine. it fits. mad that they never did one. would have made the 31 more popular then they are now.
Coupes are definitely the one to have! The lights are so iconic 👌 Would be so sick if they made an Aus del turbo, would be VL turbo prices now I reckon haha
if your being honest the r31 was never really a great car in its own right, they will always be in the shadow of the infamous Godzilla R32 GTRs that where dominate over the emissions clogged 90hp v8 holdens and lawnmower engine sierras. they where great as low budget rear drive semi sporty sleeper cars but now with the price inflating even that's going away unfortunately. now P plater hoons pay dumb prices for them just to wrap them around trees inflating prices even more. the r30 is my car, especially the early Japanese coupes with the fender mounted mirrors and such. but they to where dogs when it came to performance. the real underrated skyline is the r33, it has similar performance to the r32 but is overlooked for 32/34s.
They are very easy to pinch! I used to park mine absolutely anywhere years ago and never really worried about it getting broken into but nowadays you can’t let it sit around for 5 mins without someone trying to take it
