Hey man thanks for the video. I was missing and eager to see how much Moncton has changed. I graduated from the Moncton flight college now renamed to MFC training. Been there from late 2009 till early 2012. Loved every bit of it, still consider it my second home. Greetings from the kingdom of Bahrain 🇧🇭

people move to nb because they sold their homes in bc and ont for 1 million dollars and they can buy a nice house in the suburbs for 400k
@rps1689
@rps1689 2 года назад
Yep, and for more than a million for many, but those that have nicer homes that are two million plus usually move to other areas in their province and buy something for a million or just under. Also we have been seeing news stories about folk from BC and ON going back, as it is not what they expected and realized owning a house isn't everything.

Ok that was a really awesome video. You guys need to do a travelling series of other cities. Well researched with funny interjections. When I was in Moncton I knew it was truly a bilingual city because at the Mcdonald's when you arrived at the cash register they would wait for you to say either "hi" or "bonjour" before they'd start serving you in the language you started with. Very cool.

Being born in Moncton NB when I left I heard it became diverse which I was very happy to hear about. Moncton used to only have small percentage of other cultures. I live in Winnipeg Manitoba very diverse here. Thanks 😊 for doing this video of my hometown. When I lived there last no casino and high field square mall was still there.

@cfaviator Generally speaking I find small cities boring. I never thought of Moncton as boring because if there was nothing going on in Moncton, something fun to do in Dieppe or Riverview. I do miss Moncton defently visit there someday. Even though I don't consider Moncton boring, I really like bigger cities and like how Winnipeg is way bigger. I would defently recommend Moncton or Saint John New Brunswick to someone that wants to live in smaller city than Winnipeg.
@wiseman4160
@wiseman4160 2 года назад
@cfaviator Even if I wanted to my mom and my grandma would never move back to Moncton and I don't want to live in different city than my mom. But if I won lotto max tonight lol I could own a condo or house in Moncton for when I visit defently won't need hotel. I'm trying to remember if Moncton even has condos I think they do. I know they have apartments. But I remember the winters in Moncton being very cold in the winter. Maybe I just can't stand winter anywhere.

@cfaviator My Grandma she moved here, so my mom eventually moved here then I eventually moved here. My Grandma finds it hard to get around Moncton without a car and likes the bus transportation here. My grandma knew cousins here so moved here when she no longer wanting to live in Moncton. My mom also has bad memories for how I was treated in Moncton bullied ect she's used to living in bigger cities now.

@cfaviator Me and her have some bad memories of Moncton she doesn't want to go back. But she's open to moving to Edmonton if I move there. But she would prefer to live in Winnipeg and never move. One reason she likes Winnipeg and don't want stress of living in new city.

Growing up I've looked at New Brunswick (including Moncton) as a boring place too and its made me want to travel. I'll be curious though of what I think when I'm older after I've seen more places which I can compare it to and then maybe begin to understand the appeal. I think we're all just trying to get away to be in someplace new, and sometimes that's all we need.

Hi buddy! Moncton is becoming the most beloved city in Canada for Brazilians, both for those who are already in Canada, within the other large cities in the country, and for people who are still in Brazil, and planning to immigrate to Canada. We are arriving in great proportions, to add with the beautiful province of NB and the city of Moncton, with the workforce, with the community, and also with the taxes, so that in the future we have an even more beautiful city and with great services for your community. I will probably be arriving in mid 2023.

Hey Diego, thanks for this comment! Before this video I didn't know that Moncton was such an interest to Brazilians and I'm intrigued by it. There is plenty of opportunity in Atlantic Canada, without a doubt. The spotlight on Moncton still surprises me but it's exciting for sure. I hope the move works out for you and the province I've called home for nearly 19 years is all you could have hoped for!

@@nancypelosi480 , Hi Mrs. Pelosi, I hope you're all right. Just the other day was a report by a local economist who was saying there is now effectively NO rental housing available in Moncton. For a city thats growing there has been VERY little actual housing development. Thats in large part because the province is fairly small so has always been run by oligopolies, particularly in housing. A shortage of housing keeps rents high, thats not my opinion, thats what the economist said. Lots move to Moncton THINKING that its cheaper than other parts of canada, and if you know somebody or can crash somewhere then maybe thats an option but wages here are fairly low and rents increasing. NB often sees this when there is a perception of lower housing costs, but then after a year or two people head to ontario where there is housing problems, but at least more housing and higher wages. LIke most of the world, its a nice enough place to live IF you have money or skills. If not, then the rents are rising way faster than the minimum wage with not nearly the amenities you will find in larger cities. Many businesses are trying to get people here because they are having a harder time finding staff, but at the low end they don't pay well, so people don't tend to stick around long. However, best thing about Moncton is that it is becoming more diverse. Specialty food stores like those in ontario are popping up all over Moncton.

I HAVE SOME SERIOUS QUESTIONS ABOUT NEW BRUNSWICK - I hear that New Brunswick has some concerns. 1. New Brunswick has the highest Radon Gas levels in Canada. I hear that when you buy a home the you must sign a waiver that you understand that you may have this gas in your house. 2. Most of the province is sprayed several times a year with glyphosate ( round up). This is done in the forests with helicopters and or planes. 3. New Brunswick has that Neurological brain disease that has affected around 38 people 6 of which has died. These things are a big concern. I was wondering if it is safe to live there?

Fun fact: Moncton has 4x-8x more economic growth than any other city in NB and has been trading blows with Halifax in that front in the last decade. 2021 building permits exceeded 420 million vs Saint John 100 Million. In 2022 so far Moncton has surpassed 100 million Vs Saint John 30 million. *note theres about 6-8 downtown skyscrapers(10-25 stories) planned in the next 5-7 years and closer to a dozen total planned over the next decade. @rps1689 ok "high-rise" then. 9+ are planned right behind main street 2 of which could be 20-30 stories. Once completed in the next decade, Moncton's downtown area will completely dwarf SJ or Fredericton. There's currently over a 2 years+ wait time just to access a construction crane ATM. The COVID thing has made many people want to move out of the big metropolitan areas. I didn't know about NB being officially bi-lingual: today's educational takeaway. Looks like Moncton, New Brunswick needs millions of construction workers, architects and engineers, creating more houses, apartment buildings including tall apartments and business buildings. Even if Moncton, New Brunswick reached more than 1 million population in the future, that might happen as soon as possible.
@rps1689
@rps1689 2 года назад
NB reaching more than 1 million will take a lot of years, considering last year it only had a net migration rate of half of one percent; basically almost as many people are leaving as coming here.

Just in 2021 greater Moncton has 420 million + in building permits which is 4-8x more than any other city in the Maritimes (including Halifax). Tons of projects lined up for the next 5-10 years but there's not enough cranes available. For 3+ years there's been 8+ cranes active at all time.
@rps1689
@rps1689 2 года назад
@@marcgallant5270 Nothing to brag about. There are suburbs elsewhere in the country with more active cranes and building permits. It's all relative.
@marcgallant5270
@marcgallant5270 2 года назад
@@rps1689 it IS relative, Moncton is literally growing at the same economic rate as a city 4-6 times the size (Halifax). That economic growth is on average 4-8x times higher than Saint John NB and at times 20 times. That is significant and nothing to scoff at. 2022 economic growth has past 520 million for Moncton while SJ didn't even break 50 million.
@rps1689
@rps1689 2 года назад
@@marcgallant5270 It will be interesting to see how this will effect locals in regards to housing an the already poor access to primary healthcare. If only NB could attract those really needed.

Moncton is no longer a safe place to live, in fact it ranks 3rd in crime in all of Canada! thanks to what’s being imported. After a long lockdown the once beautiful city of Moncton was no longer recognizable, it’s like visiting Somalia/India now. It’s a cesspool of a mess.

@@Tonyx.yt. What would New Brunswick and communities like Moncton do about labour shortage if we didn't welcome immigrants? I see signs up all over advertising their need for help. Young NB locals and "snowflakes" like me are hard in short supply. I struggle to see how immigrants from less developed countries automatically translates to Canadian communities becoming third world. I'd appreciate your insight

@@OliverPriemer many of them are not suitable for living in first world countries without bring crime, squallor and lowering overall quality of life. Add some "religion' like the one that kill infidels in order to fack 72 goats and you just add insult to injury. Is not about luring cheap manpower you solve the situation, or you can but not at the idiotic rate Canada his doing now and in past decades. My grandfather bought an home (not a room shader with strangers inside a rat infested basement) in Toronto doing manual labour, now with a comparable role you barely didnt starve to death living paycheck to paycked inside a basement. And ever cheaper provinces like NB are getting more and more expensive because real estate speculation is everywhere and is in fact the most detrimental burden on society in developed countries. Liberals want more immigrants for getting votes, capitalist want cheap manpower and real estate speculators want more peoples fighting for a roof over the head. Mass immigration is detrimental for every single common people, but again, snowflakes didnt get this, too busy getting fancy coffee at Starbucks (or Hortons if you prefer) and sitting on their ass "studing" liberal studies and bullshit like that, beign more concerned about chosing the right prinouns and not hurting the emotions of the next freaktard.
