Society has taught women that they come last. Children and men are often put first traditionally. Lack of self worth make them think they dont deserve better than what they already have.

People that can't be single are afraid of that awkward silence.But that awkward silence is where you find yourself and growth begins.

Most people are codependent and seek validation and value of self from the acceptance of a significant other. We are conditioned to believe that success and happiness are the by products of a relationship. I've been single for 4 years as well as celibate and I've never been so centered as I am today. I would like a healthy relationship with a man who respect and love me but most of the relationship that I see are superficial, manipulative, emotionally abusive and shallow. Almost in every case someone is giving more to sustain the relationship than their partner so the union is fragile because there's no reciprocity. # Fake Love # Narcissistic Society! # Spirit having a human experience! Some people just don’t want to live alone. I have known people who actually lived with relatives in between relationships. They have never lived alone.

I don’t want children or marriage so the idea of getting into a relationship has always been moot to me. I like being on my own time and doing my own thing. I do like the idea that more married people are having separate households and coming together when then want to be together. Myself speaking, I like being on my own and doing my own thing.

Nelly said the same thing-- his Grandparents were married for 60 yrs but his parents were married for a shorter time and it was toxic...he says he was stuck in the middle😕😕

Good topic, I completely agree. It’s all about setting those standards and being honest with yourself. Some people aren’t strong enough to be with someone else and should work on themselves first. Where’s the lie???!! All facts! When I was in my early 20’s I found myself being dumb af 1 time and that’s all it took! Let the dude stay with me, he had no car, and barely kept a job. That situationship lasted almost a year, but when I was done I was DONE! Got in another relationship and had my daughter...long story short has her and have been single for almost 7yrs now(no dating/celibate). I refuse to deal with anybody if it’s not in the best interest for she and I. Lord willing eventually I’ll find love and get married, but until then I’m alright.

I've been single pretty much all my adult life. I do want to be in a relationship, but I want it to be the one for me. I don't the point in being in a relationship just to be in one. I guess some people get into these relationships with men who are physically their ideal, and they sadly think they can't find better

There are so many broken hurting people forging unhealthy toxic relationships with others whom are broken! They pass down generations of trauma, unhealthy patterns, and dysfunction is why these relationships are so unstable and unhealthy. One must become whole, healthy, and find self love& worth first and foremost if they want to forge with another successfully that must also be whole and love themselves

I will answer for myself why I seemingly can’t stay single for more than a few months. I know my worth, and I have basic insecurities about my body like most women but nothing major. All around I know I am beautiful and I know I’m a good girl. I have BPD and DPD. Both stem from abandonment and dependency. I don’t like being alone period. I noticed the pattern in high school and stopped dating at 17/18 didn’t start dating again until 20. I haven’t been single for more than 3 months since. I’m working on it. I have faith in myself. Anyone going through similar, I see you. I am you. We will get there. If you have the resources find a therapist and be transparent. Knowing WHY you put up with certain things is the first step.

My parents were married for 36 years. I am 37. My mom filed for divorce last year. And i always wondered what took her so long. TBH I’ve been technically single for 5 years now and i sometimes like it. Yea i want the companionship but looking at a lot of relationships around me married and unmarried I’m good right now. I have no urgent desire to get married or be with someone right now. It feels good being single. I lived with a boyfriend for 13 months and that was 10 years ago. He left a bad taste in my mouth.

Right on time! I’ve never understood this either. Growing up, plenty of my friends were serial daters, and that was always so foreign to me. I thought it was because I was tomboyish. Either way, as an adult, I’ve been single for over 4 yrs now and I sleep so much better at night, while my serial dater friends are now married to the aint shit nigga that they used to complain about. And guess what, they’re still complaining because a ring didn’t change them. Nobody talks to young girls about self love and self esteem. I had no concept of these things until I had been through some shit. Definitely took in a hobosexual at 23 lol That was the dumbest thing I did. But most young women are still reeling from the damage done to their self esteem from their teen years. When that never heals your inner growth is stunted and next you know, you're putting up with all sorts of BS. Like you I've been single for years and loving it but to those who can't function in life unless they have a man, they look at my single life as "boring" "lonely" "can't keep a man" "miserable". The dumbest thing that I did was staying with a man that I had an idea he was not only seeing me even though there were signs. Had to move stayed with him for two months now I'm free sun rise 2014- sun set 2017. That's why it's hard for me to accept a man who comes to the table light.

What I've learned in my almost 50 years on this earth is that everyone is wired differently and handle life's trauma, believe and absorbed not feeling worthy somewhere down the road. They look to people to validate their worthiness and existence because it's easier than looking in the mirror and going through the painful process of growth towards loving yourself. IT'S TOO PAINFUL to be alone, and gain a relationship with God. Loving God is loving yourself. People don't want to face their trauma and see the reality of who they really are. I went through a brief time in my life where I lowered my standards and allowed disrespectful behavior from people who weren't loving me back. I treated them better than they deserved. But you eventually get tired and want a change. Stay prayed up and eventually your eyes will open to the truth and your days and life get better. it takes time. We live in a world of instant gratification. If you ask God to help you love yourself, and trust him with all your heart. Life becomes amazing.

When I was in my 20’s I let by boyfriend use my phone and I was at work. At the time I had 300 minutes on my phone and after nine pm my minutes was free. Come to find out he was talking to his ex girlfriend and ran my minutes up on the phone. Never again smh

I have a relative who did stupid stuff like allow a guy she was with for several years to live with her while she worked and he stayed home sleeping and playing video games. And being alone, I never really had a problem with. But now that I'm single, I absolutely have no problem waiting for the kind of love that I want.

I have always been the sounding board for my friends too. I will often have some come to me for advice about their mate. Whether if I liked them or not my question is why are they still with their mate if they are constantly hurting bc of their actions or inaction and it's always the same.....bc "I love him." And to that I come back with, "We'll what about you?" "Who's going to love you?" Usually I get a "You just don't understand" response (with a slight attitude) and that I agree with them, I truly don't! They want to vent and bash him, when really they are allowing it to continue. The dumbest thing I did while in a relationship was staying with my ex-girlfriend AFTER she cheated on me AND had a baby behind it… I sometimes SMH at myself for being so stupid. lbVs

I've been done some stupid things for men. One stupid thing I did was let a man move in for a place to stay. I let him ease his way in. He lived in another county, but worked in my county. Overall, he used me for money, sex, food, dumping grounds got anger and list goes on. I finally left him and he was furious. Eventually, I ended up getting a restraining order on him......I made a poor mistake, but never again.
