I dont think the number of tanks lost really matter much if you consider in comparison the amount lost in the second world war. Russia can afford the steel loss but the human losses are what really hurts.

Tanks are now in the process of adapting to improved missiles , artillery ranges and targeting, plus drones being a threat to them from the air. After this war is over they will roam back into fashion better than before ready to take back the battlefield again.
