Why are the Gamemakers boring? 

Hi friends! A quick reminder not to post spoilers for "The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes". The book isn't out in many countries yet, and won't be for another few weeks, so it's incredibly inconsiderate. Also, many of you have been asking when I'll make videos about it. I won't be making videos about it until the movie adaptation is released, as this firstly gives everyone time to buy and read the book, and secondly will allow us to use the secondary canon that is a movie to base ideas off of. Well in the book it says the game makers also monitor the entire nation too... I believe that they are trained to be more like a military force...in a way...

Coming from someone who really loves psychology, I believe they all look the same so that they are deindividualized, this is when an individual's identity becomes the identity of the group. When people are given a sense of anonymity, they are more likely to do horrible things. The capitol would want this so that the gamemakers are more likely to do things considered morally wrong.

I think the game makers are actually people from district 3 that are more loyal then most others and then sent straight back to district 3

I would wear white because it is the Symbol of Innocent lives being taken away everyday

They don't want chunks of hair and makeup falling into the technology used to create the games like in food factories u cannot wear too much make up.

I've never thought about that, it seems like a stylistic choice for the movie, as to not take the attention away from whatever they are doing, and so that Seeneca stands out. Or to be reminiscent of a lab where people usually wear blouses and tie up their hair. We don't actually know what they look like in the books.

How do people watch the hunger games at night? Do they go to bed and wake up and go straight to the tv or do they stay up and watch it. Where do the head game makers go when they are not in the room that controls the games or do they stay the entire time?

I would wear blue as it's my favourite colour. White is a shade not a colour lol. Also you look AMAZING!

If I could have any job within the Hunger Games universe then it would have to be being a Head Game-maker.

I think that they are not allowed to wear stuff like that because it will distract the other game makers, and because Snow thinks white is perfect

I'd wear a dark green colour

I thought they looked like medical personnel, and it kind of works, as they are the minions doing the grunt work, like nurses following a surgeon’s orders. Perhaps there's some training course for game makers and they are not allowed all the crazy accoutrements of the Capitol, as they might get in the way of the tasks they have to do/impede their movements.

Although the capitol is seen as full of money, it seems apparent there is still a class system within the capitol, like you have the elite which don’t need to stand out because they already do, you have middle class that have enough money to be comfortable but also money spare to spend on fashion and trends which I think makes up the majority (Caesar flickerman) and the working class that compared to districts have money but have low skilled jobs such as you mentioned the games, camera crew, janitors, street cleaners etc etc which would make sense if you look at class systems in this day and age

I would wear either gray or purple, purple is my favorite color but gray could be very similar to black or white so it gives you more combination variables

Even though red is my favorite color I'd wear blue due to it being so interchangeable.

Obviously grey.. It's my favorite colour and grey is also a very subtle neutral color. Black is too dramatic and white is too bright and gets dirty easily. In fact, I am currently wearing an all-grey semi-formal outfit. (I am not planning on going anywhere.. as usual. I'll be watching your videos.)

I’d wear black or a dark navy

It also seems plausible they are from the districts, likely the one of the careers districts. Plus the capital citizens do not exactly seem like the hardest workers, and employees from districts probably cost less.

My favorite color is teal, so I would definitely wear that color if I could only wear one color the rest of my life! 😁

Black. It doesn't show stains as easily as brighter colors.

If I could only wear one colour it would either be navy blue or red because I have a lot of red clothes as it is, though Navy blue is my favourite colour...

They wear white because they work for the capitol just like the peacekeepers. It's their assigned uniform and cant show any individuality while doing so because they are there to follow the orders of the head gamemaker. And in the case of Seneca Crane, he has to show himself quite often to the national tv, so he can be uniform-less to make himself recognizable to the audience.

I would wear green because it is one of my favourite colours and, in my opinion, it goes best with my eyes and hair.

I would wear blue, as it’s been consistently my favorite color for most of my life, and, if this is within the realm of the capital, it also strikes a balance between discipline/maturity, with it being a relatively dark and cold color, while also popping out quite a bit, allowing me to fit in with the other residents of the capital.

SyFy channel is running a marathon today! The so called peace keepers wear all white too, and they are some dangerous people! White could also represent a blank slate that can be manipulated and controlled, which would make sense for the game makers and the peacekeepers. As both are ultimately controlled by president snow. My favorite color I could wear everyday is purple or some shade of violet or indigo. 💙💜

All the dislikes are from the dame makers themselves

I think its just uniform, because, for example, no one who has an office job wears a hoodie and sweatpants to their work, it's formal, (at least in the offices I've been to) or maybe it would take too long to put on over the top outfits when your working as a gamemaker

Also peacekeepers wear full white, probably for the same reasons.

I would wear brown, there’s so many variants and when styled correctly it’s so beautiful, comfy and elegant. I’m thinking of a dark academia style, around there

I would wear pink, not because it suits me well, just because it would make me happier❤️

It's possible that the game makers are forced into that job because they were rebels or "problematic" as a form of torture

I'd wear black. I don't mind wearing bright colours but having teal/pink/green etcetera as my only colour of clothing would make me look like some kind of strangely-formed fruit. Though, of course, if I were a Capitol resident, my view would be different entirely.

I think People from District 3 were forced to work there.

Wearing just one color for the rest of my life is a tough choice. I would puck either white or brown.

I believe it has something to do with keeping their heads down. If you consider the judges and barristers in the UK who wear gowns and wigs whilst in court, it's not just for the sake of ceremony or tradition, it actually conceals their identity. By removing some distinctive features such as the hair and body shape with their legal garments, you wouldn't recognise them out of the court room. I reckon this is much the same here, albeit in reverse. Outside the game maker headquarters, they probably wear all the extravagant fashions and cosmetics, but undress upon entering their job. Those who work in the games have to be neutral; even the stylists, escorts, and mentors who can attach themselves to tributes and have favourites, are forbidden from sponsoring them, sending supplies, or placing bets themselves. Thus if they enter the game maker headquarters in plain clothing, different to how they dress outside, no one will know who they are outside of work, and avoid scenarios where they are approached or threatened to twist the games a certain way.

I would assume that it was simply a work uniform and that they can wear their own styles on their own time. Many jobs have dress codes and codes of conduct in today's world so I assume that practice would continue for serious, hi-tech jobs.

I would probably wear black if i had to wear one colour for the rest of my life as i feel like its pretty hard for me pacifically to look bad in black. but then again i might wear white so either black or white.

i feel like the game makers may be from the districts like d3 d5 or any other district bc they are very smart and they may be bland because they don't come from the capital so they are not used to that lifestyle. Or they may live in their home districts and go to the capital to be game makers and that stuff

I never saw white as a color of innocence... I always saw it as a deathly color. I have yet to meet someone who thinks the same... I would wear red for the rest of my life. I'm wearing red right now too.

It could be that, like the Peacekeepers have their debts forgiven, other government underlings receive some enticing benefits in exchange for their service, the price of which is loss of their freedom of self-expression as they become part of the government machine. In any case, the white does nicely highlight the disconnect between the Capitol and the districts; the districts do the dirty work while the Capitol enjoys the bread and circuses in squeaky clean comfort.

When I was watching the movies for the first time, I actually noticed this as well, and on further speculation, I came to the conclusion that the Gamemakers actually don’t originate from the Capitol, but rather District 3, which is known best for technology. It’d explain why they aren’t a career district like 1, 2, and 4: they all have an initiative to not have these training centers. You’d think a District providing such valuable needs to the Capitol would be able to have Career training, but instead they chose to work as Gamemakers to lower the chances of their children being reaped. In that sense, it explains the lack of individuality and fashion compared to those of the Capitol.

My favourite colour is green so-

I’d likely wear grey. it doesn’t make me look any more emo than I already do, it looks nice on me, and it doesn’t come with the fear of stains, but also isn’t as warm as black if that makes sense?

They are probably all just made to look the same with no opinions because they're not supposed to be biased

We never see the Gamemakers outside of them doing their jobs, so I think one of the big reasons is practicality. If you’re trying to focus on making the main source of entertainment more entertaining, you wouldn’t want your hair in the way or your eyelashes being so heavy that you have to close your eyes.

I think all the game makers are from 3 because district 3 is technology and they need smart tech savvy people to be game makers. So after the games I would think they would just be sent back to district 3.

I know I'm going to sound emo, but I would wear black. I think it looks good on me, and you can wear black to anything. And the outfit doesn't need to be 100% black, so I can utilize accent colors. And I would want to wear white to a funeral.

It's probably just similar to how scientists wear white lab coats in the lab. They aren't out in public, they are doing a job. It might just be the uniform for gamemakers.
