In all honesty, as an artist myself, Murakami’s flower is again also based on already existing images, like most art, which he gave a twist. It always reminds me of the NBC logo.
@@TC-rc1zf agreed. I'm a serious collector of hats and there are so many streetwear brands that make insane hats. Whereas his hats are just "meh", plain, bright colors & nothing special whatsoever about them. Deftly not Great.
@rawsanity27 Recommend any brands in specific? Potentially up and coming brands but honestly quality and having a unique piece is almost always a way to catch my attention.
@@flowscs6835 For Hats Clinkroom, Dionic, Chamuco, Capologists, Frank 151, Tokidoki, Flying Coffin, King Stampede. For Hats + Streetwear SSUR, Rebel Eight, Mishka, Crooks & Castles, 10 Deep, Undefeated, Kid Robot, Stussy, Acrylick, Johnny Cupcakes just to name a few off top of My head.
I never bought a Saucony prior to this, both the colorways just stood out to me and I had to have them. The flower on the back plays a major part and if it wasn’t there idk if I would’ve grabbed them.
Nice cop. One more fun fact about Jae Tips no one ever mentions is he’s half-Puerto Rican. There aren’t many Latino creators and brands (like Awake NY, Bueno, KOI) that get the shine they deserve. I’m an artist. I’m familiar with the works of Murakami-san. One could easily state Murakami-san ripped off children’s drawings - especially how kids draw flowers. The flowers petals, to me, aren’t a big deal. The smiling flower is problematic unless Jae Tips is using it to give Murakami his flowers. Andy Warhol often used newspaper images to create his most noteworthy prints. Jean-Michel Basquiat (also half-Puerto Rican) drew a lot of obvious inspiration from Grey’s Anatomy. I’m shocked people who supported YZY as “original” - crediting the musical artist over the adidas archives and the actual design engineers - are so bent out of shape about this. ✌🏽💙👟
Sort of fair point, but his shoe isn't entirely inspired by the flower just that part is. I dont think its illegal for using inspiration just curious how the original creator feels about it being used
honestly these shoes are 🔥 🔥. i just got these in hand the colour scheme materials etc are so good if these had a nike tick probably be reselling for 100s of dollars people need to look further than nike, jordan, adidas etc not that im complaining got these at a great price 👍🏼
I totally agree about buying shoes without knowing anything about the person who created them - I see nothing wrong with owning a pair of sneakers for their aesthetic or performance, independently of knowing the artist, i.e. in this case Jae Tips, or the brand for that matter. Besides, isn't that a way to get to know brands/artists, by buying their products?
I think the blue pair is better then this color-way but not a bad shoe neither. Also the flower inspiration came from his love with flowers and putting a bright / happy imagery to show positivity from a dark upbringing he went thru. Living in the Hood and dealing with drugs, murder, negativity and so on. So he like to put flowers on stuff to bring the brighter side to that area. It was never inspired by marakami.
Nothing is truely original in the world of art. Inspiration factors in almost everything and thats ok. He is likely paying homage to murakami and putting his style on it. To me it reminded me of the rainbow badge from pokemon so you cant know for sure what he was thinking when making the shoe.
So no one can use a flower with colorful petals in there art when it comes to apparel now, wow. It would’ve been really different if this was his first shoe. And he probably got his inspiration from giving folks their flowers. You really kind of went ham on him a little bit there.
